Optimized one-pot synthesis of monoarylidene and unsymmetrical diarylidene cycloalkanones
AbstractIonic liquid dimethylammonium dimethylcarbamate (DIMCARB) catalyzed reaction for the synthesis of monoarylidene and unsymmetrical diarylidene cycloalkanones has been developed. Catalytic amount of DIMCARB was used in green solvent (water and ethanol) for different reaction of cyclic and acyclic ketones with different electron donating and withdrawing substituted aldehydes. Yields were recorded from low to excellent. This synthetic methodology provides mild, efficient, and environmentally friendly access to unsymmetrical curcuminoid analogs, avoiding the use of excess catalysts, chlorinated organic solvent, and high temperature reaction. It is green and environmentally sound alternative to the existing protocols for the synthesis of pharmaceutically important unsymmetrical natural product analogs
Identification of dynamic capabilities in open innovation
Purpose – This study aims to understand the interaction between capabilities inherent in open innovationand dynamic capabilities (sensing, seizing and transforming) as a source of competitive advantage.Design/methodology/approach – Qualitative method and grounded theory were used as guidelines fordata collection and analysis.Findings – The study identifies a set of capabilities in the practice of open innovation related to dynamiccapabilities, which indicates the importance of developing dynamic capability in the strategic management ofinternal and external knowledge in the company.Research limitations/implications – The number of interviewees approached herein do not allowgeneralizations, but the use of grounded theory through various strategies of data collection in the interviewsallowed the triangulation of the data, increasing the credibility, validity and quality of the research.Originality/value – This study presents capabilities identified in open innovation and their relationshipwith dynamic capabilities, identifying the importance of the dynamic capability in the strategic managementof internal and external knowledge in the company as a source of competitive advantage
Viability of Production and Application of Concrete with Addition of Fibers of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Bottles for Construction
Concrete is the main material used in the construction industry not only for the ability to produce infinite variety of shapes for precast forms and for its characteristics of high resistance to compression, but primarily for their low manufacturing cost. Nonetheless, the production by mixing cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate and water, using natural raw materials such as stone, sand and water, despite being plentiful, represent the consumption of millions of tons of natural resources. Thus, the continuous search for new solutions is fundamental in order to not only further lower the manufacturing costs of this essential component in construction, but also to seek alternative materials, those of origin in processes of sustainabilit
Periapical cyst repair after nonsurgical endodontic therapy : case report
This article presents the procedures that must be considered for periapical cyst repair after nonsurgical endodontic treatment. The case
of a periapical cyst associated to the left maxillary lateral incisor is reported. Nonsurgical root canal therapy was performed and lesion
healing was confirmed radiographically after 24 months. Differential diagnosis, endodontic infection control, apical foramen enlargement
and filling of the cystic cavity with a calcium hydroxide paste were important procedures for case resolution
Structure of cobalt (II) perchlorate adsorbed on silica gel surface chemically modified with benzimidazole molecule
Covalently attached benzimidazole molecules on silica gel surface, ≡SiL (where L = N-propyl-benzimidazole), adsorbs Co(ClO4)2 from non-aqueous solvent by forming a surface complex according to the reaction: m ≡SiL + Co(ClO4)2 → (≡SiL)mCo(ClO4)2. The equilibrium constant and the adsorption capacity, determined by applying the Langmuir equation were b = 3.0 × 103 L mol-1 and Ns= 0.098 × 10-3 mol g-1, respectively. The metal is bonded through the nitrogen atom and the perchlorate ion is not coordinated. The ESR study indicated that the complex has essentially an octahedral geometry with tetragonal distortion, with the electrons of the four nitrogen atoms interacting with the cobalt central metal ion in the equatorial plane. Only one complex species was detected on the surface
CARBOHYDRATE METABOLISM IN FISH ERYTHROCYTES: BLOOD GLUCOSE COMPARTMENTALIZATION
tropicais continentais, Prochilodus scropha e Piaractus mesopotamicus.
Abstract
With the aim to study the problem of erythrocyte glucose permeation and blood
compartmentalization in fish, a comparative study has been carried out on blood parameters from fish adapted
to different aquatic environments: Antarctic seas, marine subtropical seas and continental tropical waters. One
Antarctic fish, Notothenia neglecta, four marine subtropical fish species, Menticirrhus litoralis, Rhinobatus
percellens, Netuma barba and Mugil spp, and two tropical fish species, Prochilodus scropha and Piaractus
mesopotamicus, were de fish studied. Values for hematocrite, hemoglobin and plasma and whole blood
glucose were assayed
