Logic Negation with Spiking Neural P Systems

Nowadays, the success of neural networks as reasoning systems is doubtless. Nonetheless, one of the drawbacks of such reasoning systems is that they work as black-boxes and the acquired knowledge is not human readable. In this paper, we present a new step in order to close the gap between connectionist and logic based reasoning systems. We show that two of the most used inference rules for obtaining negative information in rule based reasoning systems, the so-called Closed World Assumption and Negation as Finite Failure can be characterized by means of spiking neural P systems, a formal model of the third generation of neural networks born in the framework of membrane computing.Comment: 25 pages, 1 figur

Indicadores para el control y evaluación de las acciones técnico-tácticas defensivas en el baloncesto.

The research process carried out with the first category women\u27s basketball team in the Guantánamo province was projected towards the elaboration of a system of indicators for the improvement of the process of control and evaluation of defensive technical-tactical actions in real game situations. During the investigation, a set of theoretical and empirical methods were applied. The specialists surveyed consider that the indicators are pertinent and cover the current needs of coaches to evaluate the technical-tactical performance of athletes in competitions, corroborating with the results achieved.El proceso de investigación realizado con el equipo primera categoría femenino de Baloncesto en la provincia Guantánamo se proyectó hacia la elaboración de un sistema de indicadores para el perfeccionamiento del proceso de control y evaluación de las acciones técnico-tácticas defensivas en situaciones reales del juego. Family Climate and Adolescent Aggression: An Analysis of their Relationships

The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between family functioning (problem solving, communication, roles, affective responsiveness, affective involvement, behaviour control and general functioning) and the development of different expressions of aggressive behaviour in adolescents. Data were collected from a sample of 722 Spanish adolescents who completed the Family Assessment Device and the self-report form of the Children’s Social Behavior Scale. Regression analyses confirmed the specific influence of different dimensions of family functioning on specific types of aggressive behaviour in adolescents. These findings pointed out that a better understanding of family functioning dimensions is necessary in order to design specific interventions for aggressive adolescents

Cultivating biodiversity : stakeholders and strategies in the context of the new rural life in Spain

La recuperación de las variedades cultivadas locales es un ámbito de creciente interés, y en él están presentes diferentes actores sociales e instituciones con intereses y motivaciones distintas. Las iniciativas son un proceso de construcción de un nuevo estatus de relevancia social, al presentar a las variedades autóctonas como biodiversidad, un concepto y un problema a él asociado asumidos como cruciales a escala internacional. Igualmente, las variedades locales son objeto de un proceso de patrimonialización y utilización como imagen del territorio, igual que otros elementos de la cultura popular y la historia relacionados con lo idiosincrásico, lo vernáculo y lo natural. Todo ello se relaciona con las formas concretas de producir ruralidad y redefinir los territorios en las sociedades contemporáneas y dar contenido a las agendas políticas. Analizar los intereses y la actuación de distintos grupos implica dos en este proceso es el objetivo principal de este estudio, fruto de dos proyectos de investigación realizados en el sur de España mediante un trabajo de campo antropológico que incluía observación participante y entrevistas. El proceso de recuperación de variedades locales es una manifestación de las diversas formas en que el medio rural vive el proceso de su configuración, de resignificación de su cultura y revalorización de sus potenciales, hasta hace poco desacreditados e invisibilizados. Esta investigación muestra cómo son posibles alianzas entre diversos actores sociales para la defensa del medio rural, teniendo como campo de disputa y negociación a la biodiversidad, elemento clave para la pervivencia de la vida y uno de los activos principales de la sociedad rural para un nuevo contrato social con el campoThe recovery of local varieties is an area of growing interest, in which different social actors and institutions with various interests and motivations are present. The initiatives consist of a process of building a new status of social relevance by introducing native varieties as biodiversity, a concept and a problem associated with it and assumed as crucial worldwide. Similarly, local varieties are subject to a process of patrimonialization and as image of the territory, like other elements of popular culture and history related to the idiosyncratic, the vernacular and the natural. All this is related to the specific ways of producing rurality and redefining territories in contemporary societies and fleshing out the political agendas. To analyze the interests and actions of different groups involved in this rocess is the main objective of this study, resulting from two research projects carried out in southern Spain through anthropological fieldwork, including participant observation and interviews.The recovery process of local varieties is a manifestation of the various ways in which the rural context undergoes a process of reconfiguration, of resignification of its culture and appreciation of its potential, which until recent times remained discredited and invisible. The McMaster Family Assessment Device (FAD) dimensions involved in the prediction of adolescent depressive symptoms and their mediating role in regard to socioeconomic status

Family functioning plays an important role in explaining the high prevalence of depressive symptoms in adolescents and it is necessary to identify the family functioning characteristics responsible for this relationship. In turn, while socioeconomic status (SES) is associated with adolescent depressive symptoms, the mechanisms that explain this relationship are largely unknown. In this study, we used the McMaster Family Assessment Device (FAD) to obtain a picture of the family functioning dimensions that genuinely contribute to explaining the relationship between family functioning and adolescent depressive symptoms and analyzed the mediating effect of family functioning on the impact of SES on depressive symptoms. Regression-based conditional process analysis was used with a sample of 636 adolescents aged 12–17 years. Pratt's measures in regression analyses showed that 95% of the variance in depressive symptoms was accounted for by three of the six FAD dimensions: the ability to experience and express emotions appropriately—Affective Responsiveness— the ability to maintain adequate involvement among family members—Affective Involvement—and the ability to set and abide by rules and standards of behavior— Behavioral Control. Results also showed that the impact of SES on depressive symptoms was mediated by the existence of clear expectations about standards of behavior and behavioral patterns for handling family tasks—Behavioral Control and Roles—and, for the boys, by experiencing and expressing emotions appropriately. The results emphasize the importance of affect and clear-cut family rules to prevent adolescent depressive symptoms and suggest that the existence of family rules and roles buffer the impact of SES on adolescent wellbeingFunding for open access charge: University of Malaga/CBU

Nursing Care Plan for Patients Undergoing Bariatric Surgery at the Iess Ambato Hospital

Aim: Bariatric surgery has emerged as the most effective option in the treatment of obesity, but it is important to recognize that it also involves significant changes in the patient's lifestyle. Psychology plays a crucial role in helping the patient understand and adapt to these changes to improve their health. Material and method: The objective of this study is to develop a nursing care protocol that allows optimal management of patients undergoing bariatric surgery at the IESS Ambato Hospital. This research employed both a quantitative and qualitative approach since the quality of care is linked to the level of knowledge and competence of the nursing staff in the care of bariatric surgery patients. The study sample consisted of 30 nurses and 44 patients, and being a limited population, all participants were included. Nursing staff interviews and patient surveys were conducted. Statistics and Result: The results revealed that 100% of the patients surveyed underwent a gastric sleeve without adequate preparation for this type of surgery. Therefore, the proposal of this research focuses on the implementation of a nursing care protocol that improves the quality of care provided to patients

Mirabegron role in urolithiasis management: what you should know

El propósito de este trabajo fue desarrollar una revisión narrativa de la literatura describiendo la evidencia disponible sobre la eficacia del mirabegrón en tres escenarios: como terapia médica expulsiva, como tratamiento médico antes de la ureteroscopia para incrementar el acceso exitoso al cálculo, y en el manejo de los síntomas asociados con el uso de catéter doble J. Solo dos estudios originales han evaluado su uso como terapia médica expulsiva, con resultados contradictorios en términos de tasa de expulsión del cálculo; sin embargo, ambos demostraron mejor control del dolor en el grupo de mirabegrón. Un estudio aleatorizado multicéntrico encontró un aumento en el acceso exitoso al cálculo durante la ureteroscopia cuando el mirabegrón era administrado una semana antes del procedimiento. Adicionalmente, dos estudios aleatorizados controlados demostraron eficacia del medicamento para disminuir los síntomas relacionados con el catéter doble J. El uso del mirabegrón como parte del arsenal del tratamiento para urolitiasis tiene un rol prometedor, tanto en la terapia médica expulsiva como antes de la ureteroscopia, para aumentar la posibilidad de acceder exitosamente al cálculo, y en pacientes con catéter doble J, para disminuir los síntomas asociados. Sin embargo, se requiere estudios más grandes, prospectivos, doble ciegos y aleatorizados antes de que podamos utilizarlo con estos fines en un escenario clínico.The purpose of the present study was to develop a narrative review of the available evidence of mirabegron efficacy in three scenarios: as a medical expulsive therapy; as a medical treatment to increase a successful access to stones before ureteroscopy, and management of double-J stent-related symptoms. Only two original studies have evaluated its use as a medical expulsive therapy, with contradictory results in terms of stone expulsion rate; however, both demonstrated a better pain control in the mirabegron group. One randomized controlled trial (RCT) found a higher successful access to ureteral stones when mirabegron was administered 1 week before the ureteroscopy. And two RCTs demonstrated its efficacy in diminishing discomfort related with double-J stent. There is a promising role for the use of mirabegron in the arsenal of urolithiasis treatment, even as a medical expulsive therapy, before ureteroscopy surgery, to increase the successful access to the stones and after the placement of ureteral catheter to reduce the related symptoms. However, larger-scaled prospective double-blinded RCTs are needed before it can be used with these purposes in the clinical scenario
