Searching for the dual of the Maxwell-Chern-Simons model minimally coupled to dynamical U(1) charged matter
The possibility of dual equivalence between the self-dual and the
Maxwell-Chern-Simons (MCS) models when the latter is coupled to dynamical, U(1)
fermionic charged matter is examined. The proper coupling in the self-dual
model is then disclosed using the iterative gauge embedding approach. We found
that the self-dual potential needs to couple directly to the Chern-Kernel of
the source in order to establish this equivalence besides the need for a

No cosmological domain wall problem for weakly coupled fields
After inflation occurs, a weakly coupled scalar field will in general not be
in thermal equilibrium but have a distribution of values determined by the
inflationary Hubble parameter. If such a field subsequently undergoes discrete
symmetry breaking, then the different degenerate vacua may not be equally
populated so the domain walls which form will be `biased' and the wall network
will subsequently collapse. Thus the cosmological domain wall problem may be
solved for sufficiently weakly coupled fields in a post-inflationary universe.
We quantify the criteria for determining whether this does happen, using a

Caring for people with Alzheimer's disease who show defensive behaviours. Part 1: Four essential pieces of nursing knowledge
When caring for people living with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and showing aggressive behaviours, nurses must perform a knowledge-based nursing practice to better understand the people's needs and support them. This article aims to present a structure for the knowledge essential for nurses caring for people living with Alzheimer's disease who show defensive behaviours. People living with AD some times show defensive behaviours that have disastrous consequences for them, their family members, the other residents, and the formal caregivers. Rather than considering these behaviours as being aggressive and disruptive, nurses must understand that they are protective and defensive. Because of the important role that nurses have in the care of people living with AD, they must possess specific knowledge. This discursive paper is based on the literature of defensive behaviours and integrates the Fundamentals of Care Framework. We use Kim's perspective regarding the knowledge-based practice and the knowledge-use in nursing practice. Several dimensions that must be considered for the nursing practice for the elderly living with AD are introduced. This permits to present a clinical gerontological nursing process centred on the relationship with the person living with AD and their family. Moreover, a mid-paradigm for nursing care of these people is introduced. Then, essential nursing knowledge for the care of people living with AD is presented in four parts, which are 1) Characteristics of AD, 2) Goals of the behaviours, 3) Contributing factors, and 4) Ecobiopsychosocial and pharmacological interventions related to the person and family's needs. The specific structure of knowledge permits to precisely identify pieces of knowledge nurses should possess and nursing students should learn in order to take care of people living with AD and their families
Nonlinear Realization of N=2 Superconformal Symmetry and Brane Effective Actions
Due to the incompatibility of the nonlinear realization of superconformal
symmetry and dilatation symmetry with the dilaton as the compensator field, in
the present paper it shows an alternative mechanism of spontaneous breaking the
N=2 superconformal symmetry to the N=0 case. By using the approach of nonlinear
transformations it is found that it leads to a space-filling brane theory with
Weyl scale W(1,3) symmetry. The dynamics of the resulting Weyl scale invariant
brane, along with that of other Nambu-Goldstone fields, is derived in terms of
the building blocks of the vierbein and the covariant derivative from the
Maurer-Cartan oneforms. A general coupling of the matter fields localized on

Topological Inflation
We consider the possibility that higher-curvature corrections could drive
inflation after the compactification to four dimensions. Assuming that the
low-energy limit of the fundamental theory is eleven-dimensional supergravity
to the lowest order, including curvature corrections and taking the descent
from eleven dimensions to four via an intermediate five-dimensional theory, as
favored by recent considerations of unification at some scale around GeV, we may obtain a simple model of inflation in four dimensions. The
effective degrees of freedom are two scalar fields and the metric. The scalars
arise as the large five-dimensional modulus and the self-interacting conformal
mode of the metric. The effective potential has a local maximum in addition to
the more usual minimum. However, the potential is quite flat at the top, and
admits topological inflation. We show that the model can resolve cosmological
problems and provide a mechanism for structure formation with very little fine

Multimeric single-domain antibody complexes protect against bunyavirus infections
The World Health Organization has included three bunyaviruses posing an increasing
threat to human health on the Blueprint list of viruses likely to cause major epidemics and for which
no, or insufficient countermeasures exist. Here, we describe a broadly applicable strategy, based
on llama-derived single-domain antibodies (VHHs), for the development of bunyavirus
biotherapeutics. The method was validated using the zoonotic Rift Valley fever virus (RVFV) and
Schmallenberg virus (SBV), an emerging pathogen of ruminants, as model pathogens. VHH building
blocks were assembled into highly potent neutralizing complexes using bacterial superglue
technology. The multimeric complexes were shown to reduce and prevent virus-induced morbidity
and mortality in mice upon prophylactic administration. Bispecific molecules engineered to present
two different VHHs fused to an Fc domain were further shown to be effective upon therapeutic
administration. The presented VHH-based technology holds great promise for the development of
bunyavirus antiviral therapies
