    The complement of proper power graphs of finite groups

    For a finite group GG, the proper power graph P(G)\mathscr{P}^*(G) of GG is the graph whose vertices are non-trivial elements of GG and two vertices uu and vv are adjacent if and only if uvu \neq v and um=vu^m=v or vm=uv^m=u for some positive integer mm. In this paper, we consider the complement of P(G)\mathscr{P}^*(G), denoted by P(G){\overline{\mathscr{P}^*(G)}}. We classify all finite groups whose complement of proper power graphs is complete, bipartite, a path, a cycle, a star, claw-free, triangle-free, disconnected, planar, outer-planar, toroidal, or projective. In addition to the language, analysis and design concepts are integrated into the course. A topic outline for the course is described. Course materials used to teach such a course and the projects assigned are presented. Concepts that need to be stressed such as encapsulation, inheritance and polymorphism are reviewed. The impact of OO approaches on databases, software development are discussed. The teaching of C++ in a DOS based environment as opposed to using GUI based methods is briefly discussed

    Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in Indian women and 4th most common cancer in women world-wide. Over nearly two decades, we have carried out epidemiological and molecular studies in cervical cancer, with an intent to identify potential early diagnostic biomarkers, predictive and prognostic markers, develop newer therapies against cervical cancer and identify potential new targets for therapy. Our studies had identified 14 high risk and 10 low-risk human papilloma virus (HPV) in our cervical cancer patients for the first time; had identified life style related cofactors in the development of cervical cancer (paan chewing, parity, early age at first sexual intercourse and first childbirth, husband with two or more sexual partners). We have developed a p16 ELISA kit for cervical cancer screening for use at point of care like PHC's; identified a 7 gene signature which help identify patients who can be treated with radiotherapy alone; identified potential prognostic markers for use in the clinic; developed the country's first Dendritic cell vaccine therapy for cervical cancer and completed the phase 1 study; have identified newer potential therapeutic targets for treatment of cervical cancer

    iQuantum: A Case for Modeling and Simulation of Quantum Computing Environments

    Today's quantum computers are primarily accessible through the cloud and potentially shifting to the edge network in the future. With the rapid advancement and proliferation of quantum computing research worldwide, there has been a considerable increase in demand for using cloud-based quantum computation resources. This demand has highlighted the need for designing efficient and adaptable resource management strategies and service models for quantum computing. However, the limited quantity, quality, and accessibility of quantum resources pose significant challenges to practical research in quantum software and systems. To address these challenges, we propose iQuantum, a first-of-its-kind simulation toolkit that can model hybrid quantum-classical computing environments for prototyping and evaluating system design and scheduling algorithms. This paper presents the quantum computing system model, architectural design, proof-of-concept implementation, potential use cases, and future development of iQuantum. Our proposed iQuantum simulator is anticipated to boost research in quantum software and systems, particularly in the creation and evaluation of policies and algorithms for resource management, job scheduling, and hybrid quantum-classical task orchestration in quantum computing environments integrating edge and cloud resources.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figure
