Averages of b-hadron, c-hadron, and tau-lepton properties as of 2018 Heavy Flavor Averaging Group (HFLAV)

This paper reports world averages of measurements of b-hadron, c-hadron, and τ -lepton properties obtained by the Heavy Flavour Averaging Group using results available through September 2018. In rare cases, significant results obtained several months later are also used. For the averaging, common input parameters used in the various analyses are adjusted (rescaled) to common values, and known correlations are taken into account. The averages include branching fractions, lifetimes, neutral meson mixing parameters, C P violation parameters, parameters of semileptonic decays, and Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa matrix elements

International audienceA search for the decay BS0→K‟∗0ÎŒ+Ό− {B}_S^0\to {\overline{K}}^{\ast 0}{\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-} is presented using data sets corresponding to 1.0, 2.0 and 1.6 fb−1^{−1} of integrated luminosity collected during pp collisions with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, respectively. An excess is found over the background-only hypothesis with a significance of 3.4 standard deviations. The branching fraction of the BS0→K‟∗0ÎŒ+Ό− {B}_S^0\to {\overline{K}}^{\ast 0}{\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-} decay is determined to be B(Bs0→K‟∗0ÎŒ+Ό−)=[2.9±1.0(stat)±0.2(syst)±0.3(norm)]×10−8 \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}\left({B}_s^0\to {\overline{K}}^{\ast 0}{\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-}\right)=\left[2.9\pm 1.0\left(\mathrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.2\left(\mathrm{syst}\right)\pm 0.3\left(\mathrm{norm}\right)\right]\times {10}^{-8} , where the first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The third uncertainty is due to limited knowledge of external parameters used to normalise the branching fraction measurement

A study of B and Bs meson decays into J/ψ η and J/ψ ηâ€Č final states is performed using a data set of proton-proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, collected by the LCHb experiment and corresponding to 3.0 fb−1 of integrated luminosity. The decay B0 → J/ψ ηâ€Č is observed for the first time. The following ratios of branching fractions are measured: B(B0→J/ψηâ€Č)B(B0s→ J/ψηâ€Č)=(2.28±0.65 (stat)±0.10 (syst)±0.13 (fs/fd))×10−2,B(B0→ J/ψη)B(B0s→ J/ψη)=(1.85±0.61 (stat)±0.09 (syst)±0.11 (fs/fd))×10−2, where the third uncertainty is related to the present knowledge of fs/fd, the ratio between the probabilities for a b quark to form a Bs or a B0 meson. The branching fraction ratios are used to determine the parameters of η − ηâ€Č meson mixing. In addition, the first evidence for the decay Bs → ψ(2S)ηâ€Č is reported, and the relative branching fraction is measured, B(B0s→ ψ(2S)ηâ€Č)B(B0s→ J/ψηâ€Č)=(38.7±9.0 (stat)±1.3 (syst)±0.9(B))×10−2, where the third uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the branching fractions of J/ψ and ψ(2S) mesons
