Similarly, in Latin America, the e-learning market is expected to generate revenues of over $3 billion by 2023 (“Latin America E-Learning Market - Industry Outlook and Forecast 2018-2023”, 2018). However, we see that by 2022, virtual education platforms in the market are mainly targeted towards adults or young professionals. According to the National System of Evaluation, Accreditation and Certification of Educational Quality (SINEACE, 2018), 70% of students still do not know what to study and approximately only 30% of young people enter higher education after finishing high school. The objective of this thesis is to present the business plan of Masterability, an education platform that seeks to offer a close and enriching learning experience, with practical application for the development of skills and exploration of interests of young students from 3rd to 5th year of secondary education, through the Internet, with excellent quality of service and a sustainable approach. Throughout the seven chapters of this thesis, the origin and motivation of the project will be presented; the development of the strategic plan; the marketing plan focused on the three brand pillars of closeness, practicality and enrichment with advertising in digital media to achieve business objectives; the operations plan with the detail of the value chain of the company; the organizational structure; and finally, the economic-financial plan of the business. At the conclusion of the economic-financial evaluation we will observe that the Masterability project will be viable with an initial investment of PEN 908,376 in a pessimistic scenario. Therefore, resulting in a positive NPV in a five-year analysis period, where the WACC is 14.08% and the EIRR is 44.34%

The objective of this study was to estimate the genetic diversity and the paternity of Brycon orbignyanus offspring’s obtained with the extrusion and semi-natural reproductive systems, by microsatellites markers. The four loci used produced 11 alleles, being observed three alleles (BoM1, BoM5 and BoM7) and two alleles (BoM2) for locus present in the parental and in the offspring of both reproductive systems. In the offspring of the extrusion system low frequency alleles was observed for the locus BoM5 (allele B = 0.095) and BoM7 (allele C = 0.059) and there was a decrease of genetic variability (observe heterozygosity-Ho = 0.900 and 0.823; Shannon index-IS = 0.937 and 0.886; Nei genetic diversity-DGN = 0.604 and 0.566, respectively). For the offspring of the semi-natural system the allele frequencies stayed stable being verified an unequal frequency for each locus. The genetic variability in the offspring was preserved, being corroborated by the Ho values (0.975 and 0.945), IS (0.927 and 0.924) and DGN (0.593 and 0.581) for parental and offspring, respectively. Deviations were observed (P <0.01) in the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and linkage disequilibrium for the two reproductive systems. The inbreeding coefficient (Fis) it showed deficit of heterozygote in the offspring of the extrusion system. Multiple paternity and differed reproductive contributions in the composition of the families in the offspring in the two reproductive systems was observed, with the presence of reproductive dominance in the semi-natural system

    Get PDF
Mechatronics and Robotics (MaR) have recently gained importance in product development and manufacturing settings and applications. Therefore, the Center for Space Emerging Technologies (C-SET) has managed an international multi-disciplinary study to present, historically, the first Latin American general review of industrial, collaborative, and mobile robotics, with the support of North American and European researchers and institutions. The methodology is developed by considering literature extracted from Scopus, Web of Science, and Aerospace Research Central and adding reports written by companies and government organizations. This describes the state-of-the-art of MaR until the year 2023 in the 3 Sub-Regions: North America, Central America, and South America, having achieved important results related to the academy, industry, government, and entrepreneurship; thus, the statistics shown in this manuscript are unique. Also, this article explores the potential for further work and advantages described by robotic companies such as ABB, KUKA, and Mecademic and the use of the Robot Operating System (ROS) in order to promote research, development, and innovation. In addition, the integration with industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing, architecture and construction, aerospace, smart agriculture, artificial intelligence, and computational social science (human-robot interaction) is analyzed to show the promising features of these growing tech areas, considering the improvements to increase production, manufacturing, and education in the Region. Finally, regarding the information presented, Latin America is considered an important location for investments to increase production and product development, taking into account the further proposal for the creation of the LATAM Consortium for Advanced Robotics and Mechatronics, which could support and work on roboethics and education/R+D+I law and regulations in the Region. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2023-07-04-025 Full Text: PD

Antimicrobial resistance among migrants in Europe: a systematic review and meta-analysis

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: Rates of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) are rising globally and there is concern that increased migration is contributing to the burden of antibiotic resistance in Europe. However, the effect of migration on the burden of AMR in Europe has not yet been comprehensively examined. Therefore, we did a systematic review and meta-analysis to identify and synthesise data for AMR carriage or infection in migrants to Europe to examine differences in patterns of AMR across migrant groups and in different settings. METHODS: For this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched MEDLINE, Embase, PubMed, and Scopus with no language restrictions from Jan 1, 2000, to Jan 18, 2017, for primary data from observational studies reporting antibacterial resistance in common bacterial pathogens among migrants to 21 European Union-15 and European Economic Area countries. To be eligible for inclusion, studies had to report data on carriage or infection with laboratory-confirmed antibiotic-resistant organisms in migrant populations. We extracted data from eligible studies and assessed quality using piloted, standardised forms. We did not examine drug resistance in tuberculosis and excluded articles solely reporting on this parameter. We also excluded articles in which migrant status was determined by ethnicity, country of birth of participants' parents, or was not defined, and articles in which data were not disaggregated by migrant status. Outcomes were carriage of or infection with antibiotic-resistant organisms. We used random-effects models to calculate the pooled prevalence of each outcome. The study protocol is registered with PROSPERO, number CRD42016043681. FINDINGS: We identified 2274 articles, of which 23 observational studies reporting on antibiotic resistance in 2319 migrants were included. The pooled prevalence of any AMR carriage or AMR infection in migrants was 25·4% (95% CI 19·1-31·8; I2 =98%), including meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (7·8%, 4·8-10·7; I2 =92%) and antibiotic-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (27·2%, 17·6-36·8; I2 =94%). The pooled prevalence of any AMR carriage or infection was higher in refugees and asylum seekers (33·0%, 18·3-47·6; I2 =98%) than in other migrant groups (6·6%, 1·8-11·3; I2 =92%). The pooled prevalence of antibiotic-resistant organisms was slightly higher in high-migrant community settings (33·1%, 11·1-55·1; I2 =96%) than in migrants in hospitals (24·3%, 16·1-32·6; I2 =98%). We did not find evidence of high rates of transmission of AMR from migrant to host populations. INTERPRETATION: Migrants are exposed to conditions favouring the emergence of drug resistance during transit and in host countries in Europe. Increased antibiotic resistance among refugees and asylum seekers and in high-migrant community settings (such as refugee camps and detention facilities) highlights the need for improved living conditions, access to health care, and initiatives to facilitate detection of and appropriate high-quality treatment for antibiotic-resistant infections during transit and in host countries. Protocols for the prevention and control of infection and for antibiotic surveillance need to be integrated in all aspects of health care, which should be accessible for all migrant groups, and should target determinants of AMR before, during, and after migration.
