Kolkata Restaurant Problem as a generalised El Farol Bar Problem
Generalisation of the El Farol bar problem to that of many bars here leads to
the Kolkata restaurant problem, where the decision to go to any restaurant or
not is much simpler (depending on the previous experience of course, as in the
El Farol bar problem). This generalised problem can be exactly analysed in some
limiting cases discussed here. The fluctuation in the restaurant service can be
shown to have precisely an inverse cubic behavior, as widely seen in the stock

Doubly charged Higgs from - scattering in the 3-3-1 Model
We studied the production and signatures of doubly charged Higgs bosons in
the process , where is a heavy lepton,
at the International Linear Collider (ILC) and CERN Linear Collider
(CLIC). The intermediate photons are given by the Weizscker-Williams
and laser backscattering distributions. We found that significant signatures
are obtained by bremsstrahlung and backward Comptom scattering of laser. A
clear signal can be obtained for doubly charged Higgs bosons, doubly charged
gauge bosons and heavy leptons
Higgs sector and R-parity breaking couplings in models with broken U(1)_B-L gauge symmetry
Four different supersymmetric models based on SU(2)_L X U(1)_R X U(1)_B-L and
SU(2)_L X SU(2)_R X U(1)_B-L gauge symmetry groups are studied. U(1)_B-L
symmetry is broken spontaneously by a vacuum expectation value (VEV) of a
sneutrino field. The right-handed gauge bosons may obtain their mass solely by
sneutrino VEV. The physical charged lepton and neutrino are mixtures of
gauginos, higgsinos and lepton interaction eigenstates. Explicit formulae for
masses and mixings in the physical lepton fields are found. The spontaneous
symmetry breaking mechanism fixes the trilinear R-parity breaking couplings.
Only some special R-parity breaking trilinear couplings are allowed. There is a
potentially large trilinear lepton number breaking coupling - which is unique
to left-right models - that is proportional to the SU(2)_R gauge coupling g_R.
The couplings are parametrized by few mixing angles, making the spontaneous
R-parity breaking a natural ``unification framework'' for R-parity breaking

The screen representation of vector coupling coefficients or Wigner 3j symbols: exact computation and illustration of the asymptotic behavior
The Wigner symbols of the quantum angular momentum theory are related to
the vector coupling or Clebsch-Gordan coefficients and to the Hahn and dual
Hahn polynomials of the discrete orthogonal hyperspherical family, of use in
discretization approximations. We point out the important role of the Regge
symmetries for defining the screen where images of the coefficients are
projected, and for discussing their asymptotic properties and semiclassical
behavior. Recursion relationships are formulated as eigenvalue equations, and

Systematic Study of Fermion Masses and Mixing Angles in Horizontal SU(2) Gauge Theory
Despite its great success in explaining the basic interactions of nature, the
standard model suffers from an inability to explain the observed masses of the
fundamental particles and the weak mixing angles between them. We shall survey
a set of possible extensions to the standard model, employing an SU(2)
``horizontal'' gauge symmetry between the particle generations, to see what

Basic kinetic wealth-exchange models: common features and open problems
We review the basic kinetic wealth-exchange models of Angle [J. Angle, Social
Forces 65 (1986) 293; J. Math. Sociol. 26 (2002) 217], Bennati [E. Bennati,
Rivista Internazionale di Scienze Economiche e Commerciali 35 (1988) 735],
Chakraborti and Chakrabarti [A. Chakraborti, B. K. Chakrabarti, Eur. Phys. J. B
17 (2000) 167], and of Dragulescu and Yakovenko [A. Dragulescu, V. M.
Yakovenko, Eur. Phys. J. B 17 (2000) 723]. Analytical fitting forms for the
equilibrium wealth distributions are proposed. The influence of heterogeneity
is investigated, the appearance of the fat tail in the wealth distribution and
the relaxation to equilibrium are discussed. A unified reformulation of the

PESTICIDE RESIDUES IN INDIAN MAJOR CARPS REARED IN WASTEWATER
The use of pesticides in agricultural fields and public health care has led to transport and accumulation of
pesticide residues in different environmental compartments including the water bodies like ponds, lakes, wetlands, rivers
and estuaries are quite often found to be contaminated with pesticides as a result of run–off and discharges from different
sources. Since pesticides are toxic chemicals, they adversely affect the non target organisms including fish, a common
protein source to human. The present study was undertaken with the objective to find the extent and level of any persistent
organochlorine pesticides (OCP) residue in edible fishes grown in waste waters, namely Mudiyali Fisheries Co-operative
society and Rahara fish farm, West Bengal, India. The results revealed the presence of DDT and endosulfan in muscles
and gills of Indian Major Carps (IMC) like Rohu (Labeo rohita), Catla (Catla catla) and Mrigal (Cirrhinus mrigala)
reared in wastewater. However, the level of the pesticide residues found in IMCs were below the tolerance limits (TL) set
by FSSAI which indicated that those fishes were safe for consumption. But, emphasis should be laid on continuous
monitoring program from food safety point of view
