Fractional and unquantized dc voltage generation in THz-driven semiconductor superlattices

We consider the spontaneous creation of a dc voltage across a strongly coupled semiconductor superlattice subjected to THz radiation. We show that the dc voltage may be approximately proportional either to an integer or to a half- integer multiple of the frequency of the applied ac field, depending on the ratio of the characteristic scattering rates of conducting electrons. For the case of an ac field frequency less than the characteristic scattering rates, we demonstrate the generation of an unquantized dc voltage.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, RevTEX, EPSF. The article discusses a data processing method for geomagnetic field of the earth on a distributed network of geophysical observatories. The proposed method allows to detect and monitor irregular disturbances of the geomagnetic field, evaluate their options, determine the epicenter of the occurrence of disturbances and to estimate the parameters of the epicente

    Time-dependent angularly averaged inverse transport

This paper concerns the reconstruction of the absorption and scattering parameters in a time-dependent linear transport equation from knowledge of angularly averaged measurements performed at the boundary of a domain of interest. We show that the absorption coefficient and the spatial component of the scattering coefficient are uniquely determined by such measurements. We obtain stability results on the reconstruction of the absorption and scattering parameters with respect to the measured albedo operator. The stability results are obtained by a precise decomposition of the measurements into components with different singular behavior in the time domain

System In this paper, an approach to the organization of spatial-temporal processing of geoelectrical data in the system of automated geodynamic control is considered. It allows combining methodical, algorithmic, program and information support of the processes of collecting and processing of geodynamic information at subjects to contro

Gallus GBrowse: a unified genomic database for the chicken

    Get PDF
Gallus GBrowse (http://birdbase.net/cgi-bin/gbrowse/gallus/) provides online access to genomic and other information about the chicken, Gallus gallus. The information provided by this resource includes predicted genes and Gene Ontology (GO) terms, links to Gallus In Situ Hybridization Analysis (GEISHA), Unigene and Reactome, the genomic positions of chicken genetic markers, SNPs and microarray probes, and mappings from turkey, condor and zebra finch DNA and EST sequences to the chicken genome. We also provide a BLAT server (http://birdbase.net/cgi-bin/webBlat) for matching user-provided sequences to the chicken genome. These tools make the Gallus GBrowse server a valuable resource for researchers seeking genomic information regarding the chicken and other avian species

The article considers the experience of optimizing the slag adjustment mode in the Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) and reducing the proportion of oxide non-metallic impurities in steel. The article presents the results of a research on the separation of slag from metal during the starting period of carbon semi-product tapping, on the elimination of an emergency situation when the hole is shut up at any degree of slag viscosity, the use of the device at any tap hole diameter after the heat, the simplicity of the design. The use of the device makes it possible to increase the durability of the taphole lining, reduce repair costs, and improve the quality of steel by reducing non-metallic impurities. The innovative devices proposed by the author can be useful for metallurgical enterprises
