Mosquitos’ species of Diyala province, Iraq
In the present study; the electrical mosquito\u27s killer collection method was used for adult mosquitoes. Two different stations for fixing electricalmosquito\u27s killer were chosen in the study area of veterinary college of medicine of Diyala University,Baquba, Al-muradia. Total number of 553 insects collected ; total number of mosquitoes n = 70 ;Two genera Anopheles n=21 and Culex n= 49 adults were recorded with no significance difference P-Value = 0.565; Three spp. were identified and classified as followsCx. (Cux.) pipiens Linnaeus 1758 , An. (Cel.) stephensi Liston 1901 and An. (Ano.) sacharovi Favre 1903.
There was significant difference p=0.010 between monthly distribution in favor of March 2017 , were the total number of the insects (n=507)and the number of mosquitoes(n=64 ) , and lowest number were in January and February (n=0)reported ; Results revealed alsono significant difference p=0.248 between the monthly total number of mosquitoes and other insects and monthly total number of mosquitoes; Mosquitoes were captured indoors more Anopheles than outdoors; Culex recorded in November, December and March, while anopheline reported in March only in time of study.
Our present study entomological data calls the health authority to conduct further survey for Mosquito species in the province to its great role as vector of malaria

MedZIM: Mediation analysis for Zero-Inflated Mediators with applications to microbiome data
The human microbiome can contribute to the pathogenesis of many complex
diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease by mediating disease-leading
causal pathways. However, standard mediation analysis is not adequate in the
context of microbiome data due to the excessive number of zero values in the
data. Zero-valued sequencing reads, commonly observed in microbiome studies,
arise for technical and/or biological reasons. Mediation analysis approaches
for analyzing zero-inflated mediators are still lacking largely because of
challenges raised by the zero-inflated data structure: (a) disentangling the
mediation effect induced by the point mass at zero; and (b) identifying the
observed zero-valued data points that are actually not zero (i.e., false
zeros). We develop a novel mediation analysis method under the
potential-outcomes framework to fill this gap. We show that the mediation
effect of the microbiome can be decomposed into two components that are
inherent to the two-part nature of zero-inflated distributions. The first
component corresponds to the mediation effect attributable to a unit-change
over the positive relative abundance and the second component corresponds to
the mediation effect attributable to discrete binary change of the mediator
from zero to a non-zero state. With probabilistic models to account for
observing zeros, we also address the challenge with false zeros. A
comprehensive simulation study and the applications in two real microbiome
studies demonstrate that our approach outperforms existing mediation analysis

Casimir Forces for Robin Scalar Field on Cylindrical Shell in de Sitter Space
The Casimir stress on a cylinderical shell in background of conformally flat
space-time for massless scalar field is investigated. In the general case of
Robin (mixed) boundary condition formulae are derived for the vacuum
expectation values of the energy-momentum tensor and vacuum forces acting on
boundaries. The special case of the dS bulk is considered then different
cosmological constants are assumed for the space inside and outside of the
shell to have general results applicable to the case of cylindrical domain wall

Chronic Nicotine Cell Specifically Upregulates Functional α4* Nicotinic Receptors: Basis for Both Tolerance in Midbrain and Enhanced Long-Term Potentiation in Perforant Path
Understanding effects of chronic nicotine requires identifying the neurons and synapses whose responses to nicotine itself, and to endogenous acetylcholine, are altered by continued exposure to the drug. To address this problem, we developed mice whose α4 nicotinic receptor subunits are replaced by normally functioning fluorescently tagged subunits, providing quantitative studies of receptor regulation at micrometer resolution. Chronic nicotine increased α4 fluorescence in several regions; among these, midbrain and hippocampus were assessed functionally. Although the midbrain dopaminergic system dominates reward pathways, chronic nicotine does not change α4* receptor levels in dopaminergic neurons of ventral tegmental area (VTA) or substantia nigra pars compacta. Instead, upregulated, functional α4* receptors localize to the GABAergic neurons of the VTA and substantia nigra pars reticulata. In consequence, GABAergic neurons from chronically nicotine-treated mice have a higher basal firing rate and respond more strongly to nicotine; because of the resulting increased inhibition, dopaminergic neurons have lower basal firing and decreased response to nicotine. In hippocampus, chronic exposure to nicotine also increases α4* fluorescence on glutamatergic axons of the medial perforant path. In hippocampal slices from chronically treated animals, acute exposure to nicotine during tetanic stimuli enhances induction of long-term potentiation in the medial perforant path, showing that the upregulated α4* receptors in this pathway are also functional. The pattern of cell-specific upregulation of functional α4* receptors therefore provides a possible explanation for two effects of chronic nicotine: sensitization of synaptic transmission in forebrain and tolerance of dopaminergic neuron firing in midbrain
Nicotine Activation of α4* Receptors: Sufficient for Reward, Tolerance, and Sensitization
The identity of nicotinic receptor subtypes sufficient to elicit both the acute and chronic effects of nicotine dependence is unknown. We engineered mutant mice with α4 nicotinic subunits containing a single point mutation, Leu^(9′) → Ala^(9′) in the pore-forming M2 domain, rendering α4* receptors hypersensitive to nicotine. Selective activation of α4* nicotinic acetylcholine receptors with low doses of agonist recapitulates nicotine effects thought to be important in dependence, including reinforcement in response to acute nicotine administration, as well as tolerance and sensitization elicited by chronic nicotine administration. These data indicate that activation of α4* receptors is sufficient for nicotine-induced reward, tolerance, and sensitization
In vitro activity of daptomycin, linezolid and rifampicin on Staphylococcus epidermidis biofilms
Owing to their massive use, Staphylococcus
epidermidis has recently developed significant resistance to
several antibiotics, and became one of the leading causes of
hospital-acquired infections. Current antibiotics are typically
ineffective in the eradication of bacteria in biofilmassociated
persistent infections. Accordingly, the paucity
of effective treatment against cells in this mode of growth
is a key factor that potentiates the need for new agents
active in the prevention or eradication of biofilms. Daptomycin
and linezolid belong to the novel antibiotic therapies
that are active against gram-positive cocci. On the other
hand, rifampicin has been shown to be one of the most
potent, prevalent antibiotics against S. epidermidis biofilms.
Therefore, the main aim of this study was to study
the susceptibility of S. epidermidis biofilm cells to the two
newer antimicrobial agents previously mentioned, and
compare the results obtained with the antimicrobial effect
of rifampicin, widely used in the prevention/treatment of
indwelling medical device infections. To this end the in
vitro activities of daptomycin, linezolid, and rifampicin on
S. epidermidis biofilms were accessed, using these antibiotics
at MIC and peak serum concentrations. The results
demonstrated that at MIC concentration, rifampicin was the
most effective antibiotic tested. At peak serum concentration,
both strains demonstrated similar susceptibility to
rifampicin and daptomycin, with colony-forming units
(CFUs) reductions of approximately 3–4 log10, with a
slightly lower response to linezolid, which was also more
strain dependent. However, considering all the parameters
studied, daptomycin was considered the most effective
antibiotic tested, demonstrating an excellent in vitro
activity against S. epidermidis biofilm cells. In conclusion,
this antibiotic can be strongly considered as an acceptable
therapeutic option for S. epidermidis biofilm-associated
infections and can represent a potential alternative to rifampicin
in serious infections where rifampicin resistance

Electromagnetic Casimir densities for a wedge with a coaxial cylindrical shell
Vacuum expectation values of the field square and the energy-momentum tensor
for the electromagnetic field are investigated for the geometry of a wedge with
a coaxal cylindrical boundary. All boundaries are assumed to be perfectly
conducting and both regions inside and outside the shell are considered. By
using the generalized Abel-Plana formula, the vacuum expectation values are
presented in the form of the sum of two terms. The first one corresponds to the
geometry of the wedge without the cylindrical shell and the second term is
induced by the presence of the shell. The vacuum energy density induced by the
shell is negative for the interior region and is positive for the exterior
region. The asymptotic behavior of the vacuum expectation values are
investigated in various limiting cases. It is shown that the vacuum forces
acting on the wedge sides due to the presence of the cylindrical boundary are

Left ventricular remodeling and hypertrophy in patients with aortic stenosis:insights from cardiovascular magnetic resonance
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is the gold standard non-invasive method for determining left ventricular (LV) mass and volume but has not been used previously to characterise the LV remodeling response in aortic stenosis. We sought to investigate the degree and patterns of hypertrophy in aortic stenosis using CMR.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Patients with moderate or severe aortic stenosis, normal coronary arteries and no other significant valve lesions or cardiomyopathy were scanned by CMR with valve severity assessed by planimetry and velocity mapping. The extent and patterns of hypertrophy were investigated using measurements of the LV mass index, indexed LV volumes and the LV mass/volume ratio. Asymmetric forms of remodeling and hypertrophy were defined by a regional wall thickening <b>≥</b>13 mm and >1.5-fold the thickness of the opposing myocardial segment.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Ninety-one patients (61±21 years; 57 male) with aortic stenosis (aortic valve area 0.93±0.32cm2) were recruited. The severity of aortic stenosis was unrelated to the degree (r<sup>2</sup>=0.012, P=0.43) and pattern (P=0.22) of hypertrophy. By univariate analysis, only male sex demonstrated an association with LV mass index (P=0.02). Six patterns of LV adaption were observed: normal ventricular geometry (n=11), concentric remodeling (n=11), asymmetric remodeling (n=11), concentric hypertrophy (n=34), asymmetric hypertrophy (n=14) and LV decompensation (n=10). Asymmetric patterns displayed considerable overlap in appearances (wall thickness 17±2mm) with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>We have demonstrated that in patients with moderate and severe aortic stenosis, the pattern of LV adaption and degree of hypertrophy do not closely correlate with the severity of valve narrowing and that asymmetric patterns of wall thickening are common.</p> <p>Trial registration</p> <p>ClinicalTrials.gov Reference Number: NCT00930735</p
