    Individu memiliki kecenderungan untuk munafik secara moral ketika memiliki kekuasaan. Mereka menilai pelanggaran moral yang dilakukan oleh dirinya lebih ringan dibandingkan orang lain meski berada dalam kondisi yang sama. Namun bagaimana jika individu diancam oleh kematian? Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen, bertujuan untuk melihat lebih lanjut gejala kemunafikan moral pada mereka yang berkuasa. Peneliti menggunakan dua prosedur dalam mengukur kemunafikan moral berupa Skala Pelanggaran Moral (studi 1) dan Dilema Pembagian Tugas (studi 2). Sumber kekuasaan juga dimanipulasi berdasarkan kepribadian (studi 1) dan kedudukan (studi 2). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ancaman kematian dapat membuat tingkat kemunafikan moral pada individu yang berkuasa mengalami penuruna

We propose an agent-based environment, which we call E-Commerce through Wireless Devices (E-CWE), that allows users, stationary or mobile, to submit their requests for services offered by providers. The E-CWE environment consists of a reception platform including a repository of service descriptions. A supervisor-agent is in charge of this repository. Acting on behalf of their users, user-agents are dynamically created in this platform. In the E-CWE environment, security is achieved in two steps: securing service access and securing payment.     By adopting technology, enhancing productivity, and fostering economic growth in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), owners and managers can improve their innovation management methods. Owners and managers can optimize their innovation management approaches in small and medium-sized firms (SMEs) by incorporating technology, improving productivity, and promoting economic growth. Despite heightened knowledge of technology, productivity, and economic growth, innovation management has not been adequately examined. This study presents a theoretical framework for evaluating the effects of technology, productivity, and economic growth. A quantitative methodology was utilized, and questionnaires were sent to employees in small and medium-sized enterprises in Erbil, Iraq. This research involved 260 Iraqi workers, and 242 were analysed in Smart PLS. SMEs can address constraints in technology, productivity, and economic growth by implementing these strategies, as indicated by the results. Identifying opportunities for improvement, efficiently allocating resources, and fostering an innovative culture are essential for your company.     Highly sensitive and selective Love mode surface acoustic wave ammonia sensor based on graphene oxides operated at room temperature

    It is crucial to develop highly sensitive and selective sensors for ammonia, one of the most common toxic gases which have been widely used in pharmaceutical, chemical and manufacturing industries. In this study, graphene oxide (GO) film was spin-coated onto surfaces of ST-cut quartz surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices with a resonant frequency of 200 MHz for ammonia sensing. The oxygen-containing functional groups (such as hydroxyl and epoxy ones) on the surface of GO film strongly absorb ammonia molecules and thus increase the film stiffness. This is attributed to the main ammonia sensing mechanism of the Love mode SAW devices, which show not only a positive frequency shift of 620 Hz for 500 ppb ammonia gas, but also an excellent selectivity (as compared to other gases such as H2, H2S, CO and NO2) and a good reproducibility, operated at room temperature of 22 oC

    Allele-specific miRNA-binding analysis identifies candidate target genes for breast cancer risk

    Most breast cancer (BC) risk-associated single-nucleotide polymorphisms (raSNPs) identified in genome-wide association studies (GWAS) are believed to cis-regulate the expression of genes. We hypothesise that cis-regulatory variants contributing to disease risk may be affecting microRNA (miRNA) genes and/or miRNA binding. To test this, we adapted two miRNA-binding prediction algorithms-TargetScan and miRanda-to perform allele-specific queries, and integrated differential allelic expression (DAE) and expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) data, to query 150 genome-wide significant ( P≤5×10-8 ) raSNPs, plus proxies. We found that no raSNP mapped to a miRNA gene, suggesting that altered miRNA targeting is an unlikely mechanism involved in BC risk. Also, 11.5% (6 out of 52) raSNPs located in 3'-untranslated regions of putative miRNA target genes were predicted to alter miRNA::mRNA (messenger RNA) pair binding stability in five candidate target genes. Of these, we propose RNF115, at locus 1q21.1, as a strong novel target gene associated with BC risk, and reinforce the role of miRNA-mediated cis-regulation at locus 19p13.11.     Bacterial cellulose coated ST-cut quartz surface acoustic wave humidity sensor with high sensitivity, fast response and recovery

    A Love mode surface acoustic wave (SAW) humidity sensor based on bacterial cellulose (BC) coated ST-cut quartz was developed in this study. The BC film is composed of ultrafine interwoven fibers to form a highly porous network, and its surface contains a large amount of hydroxyl groups, which significantly improve the adsorption capability of SAW sensing layer for water molecules. This results in significant mass loading effects and enhanced responsivity of the SAW sensor. The resonant frequency of the sensor changes linearly with RH at lower relative humidity (RH) values (e.g., RH30%), but when RH80%, an exponential increase in frequency shift as a function of RH is obtained due to the enhanced mass loading effect. A frequency shift of 89.8 kHz was measured using a sensor with a BC film with a thickness of 148 nm thick when the RH was increased from 30% to 93%. The frequency of the sensor can be fully shifted back to the original reading when the RH was returned back to 30%, with the response and recovery times of 12 s and 5 s, respectively. The SAW sensor also exhibits good short-term repeatability and long-term stability for humidity sensing

    Short-Term Treatment with Bisphenol-A Leads to Metabolic Abnormalities in Adult Male Mice

    Bisphenol-A (BPA) is one of the most widespread endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC) used as the base compound in the manufacture of polycarbonate plastics. Although evidence points to consider exposure to BPA as a risk factor for insulin resistance, its actions on whole body metabolism and on insulin-sensitive tissues are still unclear. The aim of the present work was to study the effects of low doses of BPA in insulin-sensitive peripheral tissues and whole body metabolism in adult mice. Adult mice were treated with subcutaneous injection of 100 µg/kg BPA or vehicle for 8 days. Whole body energy homeostasis was assessed with in vivo indirect calorimetry. Insulin signaling assays were conducted by western blot analysis. Mice treated with BPA were insulin resistant and had increased glucose-stimulated insulin release. BPA-treated mice had decreased food intake, lower body temperature and locomotor activity compared to control. In skeletal muscle, insulin-stimulated tyrosine phosphorylation of the insulin receptor β subunit was impaired in BPA-treated mice. This impairment was associated with a reduced insulin-stimulated Akt phosphorylation in the Thr308 residue. Both skeletal muscle and liver displayed an upregulation of IRS-1 protein by BPA. The mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway was also impaired in the skeletal muscle from BPA-treated mice. In the liver, BPA effects were of lesser intensity with decreased insulin-stimulated tyrosine phosphorylation of the insulin receptor β subunit

    Activation of the Canonical Wnt/β-Catenin Pathway in ATF3-Induced Mammary Tumors

    Female transgenic mice that constitutively overexpress the transcription factor ATF3 in the basal epithelium of the mammary gland develop mammary carcinomas with high frequency, but only if allowed to mate and raise pups early in life. This transgenic mouse model system reproduces some features of human breast cancer in that about 20% of human breast tumor specimens exhibit overexpression of ATF3 in the tumor cells. The ATF3-induced mouse tumors are phenotypically similar to mammary tumors induced by overexpression of activating Wnt/β-catenin pathway genes. We now show that the Wnt/β-catenin pathway is indeed activated in ATF3-induced tumors. β-catenin is transcriptionally up-regulated in the tumors, and high levels of nuclear β-catenin are seen in tumor cells. A reporter gene for Wnt/β-catenin pathway activity, TOPGAL, is up-regulated in the tumors and several downstream targets of Wnt signaling, including Ccnd1, Jun, Axin2 and Dkk4, are also expressed at higher levels in ATF3-induced tumors compared to mammary glands of transgenic females. Several positive-acting ligands for this pathway, including Wnt3, Wnt3a, Wnt7b, and Wnt5a, are significantly overexpressed in tumor tissue, and mRNA for Wnt3 is about 5-fold more abundant in transgenic mammary tissue than in non-transgenic mammary tissue. Two known transcriptional targets of ATF3, Snai1 and Snai2, are also overexpressed in the tumors, and Snail and Slug proteins are found to be located primarily in the nuclei of tumor cells. In vitro knockdown of Atf3 expression results in significant decreases in expression of Wnt7b, Tcf7, Snai2 and Jun, suggesting that these genes may be direct transcriptional targets of ATF3 protein. By chromatin immunoprecipitation analysis, both ATF3 and JUN proteins appear to bind to a particular subclass of AP-1 sites upstream of the transcriptional start sites of each of these genes

    Microporous polysaccharide hemosphere absorbable hemostat use in cardiothoracic surgical procedures

    BACKGROUND: Topical hemostatic agents are used to reduce bleeding and transfusion need during cardiothoracic surgery. We report our experience with Arista® AH Absorbable Hemostatic Particles (Arista® AH), a novel plant-based microporous polysaccharide hemostatic powder. METHODS: Data were retrospectively collected for patients (n = 240) that received cardiothoracic surgery at our institution from January 2009 to January 2013 with (n = 103) or without (n = 137) the use of Arista® AH. Endpoints included protamine to skin closure time (hemostasis time), cardiopulmonary bypass time, quantity of Arista® AH applied, intraoperative blood product usage, intraoperative blood loss, chest tube output 48 hours postoperatively, blood products required 48 hours postoperatively, length of stay in the intensive care unit, 30-day morbidity, and 30-day mortality. RESULTS: 240 patients (176 M: 64 F) underwent 240 cardiothoracic procedures including heart transplantation (n = 53), cardiac assist devices (n = 113), coronary artery bypass grafts (n = 20), valve procedures (n = 19), lung transplantation (n = 17), aortic dissection (n = 8), and other (n = 10). Application of Arista® AH led to significant reduction in hemostasis time versus the untreated control group (Arista® AH: 93.4 ± 41 min. vs. Control: 107.6 ± 56 min., p = 0.02). Postoperative chest tube output in the first 48 hours was also significantly reduced (Arista® AH: 1594 ± 949 mL vs. Control: 2112 ± 1437 mL, p < 0.001), as well as transfusion of packed red blood cells (Arista® AH: 2.4 ± 2.5 units vs. Control: 4.0 ± 5.1 units, p < 0.001). There was no significant difference in 30-day mortality or postoperative complications. CONCLUSION: Use of Arista® AH in complex cardiothoracic surgery resulted in a significant reduction in hemostasis time, postoperative chest tube output, and need for postoperative blood transfusion

    Association of breast cancer risk with genetic variants showing differential allelic expression: Identification of a novel breast cancer susceptibility locus at 4q21

    There are significant inter-individual differences in the levels of gene expression. Through modulation of gene expression, cis\textit{cis}-acting variants represent an important source of phenotypic variation. Consequently, cis\textit{cis}-regulatory SNPs associated with differential allelic expression are functional candidates for further investigation as disease-causing variants. To investigate whether common variants associated with differential allelic expression were involved in breast cancer susceptibility, a list of genes was established on the basis of their involvement in cancer related pathways and/or mechanisms. Thereafter, using data from a genome-wide map of allelic expression associated SNPs, 313 genetic variants were selected and their association with breast cancer risk was then evaluated in 46,451 breast cancer cases and 42,599 controls of European ancestry ascertained from 41 studies participating in the Breast Cancer Association Consortium. The associations were evaluated with overall breast cancer risk and with estrogen receptor negative and positive disease. One novel breast cancer susceptibility locus on 4q21 (rs11099601) was identified (OR = 1.05, P\textit{P} = 5.6x10−6^{-6}). rs11099601 lies in a 135 kb linkage disequilibrium block containing several genes, including, HELQ\textit{HELQ}, encoding the protein HEL308 a DNA dependant ATPase and DNA Helicase involved in DNA repair, MRPS18C\textit{MRPS18C} encoding the Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein S18C and FAM175A (ABRAXAS)\textit{FAM175A (ABRAXAS)}, encoding a BRCA1\textit{BRCA1} BRCT domain-interacting protein involved in DNA damage response and double-strand break (DSB) repair. Expression QTL analysis in breast cancer tissue showed rs11099601 to be associated with HELQ \textit{HELQ } (P\textit{P} = 8.28x10−14^{-14}), MRPS18C\textit{MRPS18C} (P\textit{P} = 1.94x10−27^{-27}) and FAM175A \textit{FAM175A } (P\textit{P} = 3.83x10−3^{-3}), explaining about 20%, 14% and 1%, respectively of the variance inexpression of these genes in breast carcinomas.Information regarding funding can be found in the published article or the publisher's website.
