© 2017, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC. We analyzed changes of intracellular RNA level in breast cancer cells using BT-20, BT-474, and MCF-7 cell lines. It is the continuation of our former studying the effect of bacterial ribonucleases on physiological and biochemical parameters of breast cancer cells. For the first time, we tested ability of Bacillus pumilus RNase (binase) to effect the level of intracellular RNA in these cells. Differences in total RNA level under of the binase action on the cells of triple negative, triple positive, and double positive breast cancer during 48 h of treatment were not detected. The sensitivity of cells to binase was not associated with a reduction of the intracellular RNA level

The authors consider the processes of social and cultural adaptation of migrant children and their integration into the host society in the context of Norway’s immigration policy in the article. Particular attention is paid to the specifics of the country’s immigration policy, strategies for working with immigrant children in the host society, as well as the social consequences of these strategies for Norwegian society. It is emphasized that immigrants and the native population of the country exert mutual influence on each other. Establishment of effective social interactions between them, assimilation of elements of new culture by immigrants has a favorable effect on the internal political stability of the state. It is noted that this is especially important for Norway, which adheres to the policy of multiculturalism. It is concluded that the integration of immigrants into the host community does not happen automatically. The authors also highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the Norwegian immigration policy in relation to children, which to a certain extent calls into question its effectiveness in the long term

During April-July, 2003 39 specimens of clinical material from six patients and three dead men with suspected «atypical pneumonia» who were detected on the territory of Khabarovsk, Primorski and Sakhalin regions were investigated. The inoculation of clinical material to cell culture Vero E6 did not show the cytopathogenic effect for coronavirus SARS. The amplificate with sought for molecular weight was obtained in RT-PCR assay with primers SAR1 and BNI in sputum and blood specimens of one of the patients, but it was not cDNA of coronavirus SARS. As a result of additional studies there were established the following diagnosis: HFRS, bronchopneumonia with Clebsiella etiology (postmortem) and leptospirosis (postmortem). The terminal diagnosis for the rest patients were: bronchopneumonia of inferior lobes (3), maxillary sinusitis, ARVI and toxocariasis

Countercurrent chromatography in analytical chemistry (IUPAC technical report)

© 2009 IUPACCountercurrent chromatography (CCC) is a generic term covering all forms of liquid-liquid chromatography that use a support-free liquid stationary phase held in place by a simple centrifugal or complex centrifugal force field. Biphasic liquid systems are used with one liquid phase being the stationary phase and the other being the mobile phase. Although initiated almost 30 years ago, CCC lacked reliable columns. This is changing now, and the newly designed centrifuges appearing on the market make excellent CCC columns. This review focuses on the advantages of a liquid stationary phase and addresses the chromatographic theory of CCC. The main difference with classical liquid chromatography (LC) is the variable volume of the stationary phase. There are mainly two different ways to obtain a liquid stationary phase using centrifugal forces, the hydrostatic way and the hydrodynamic way. These two kinds of CCC columns are described and compared. The reported applications of CCC in analytical chemistry and comparison with other separation and enrichment methods show that the technique can be successfully used in the analysis of plants and other natural products, for the separation of biochemicals and pharmaceuticals, for the separation of alkaloids from medical herbs, in food analysis, etc. On the basis of the studies of the last two decades, recommendations are also given for the application of CCC in trace inorganic analysis and in radioanalytical chemistry

    АТРОПОИЗОМЕРИЯ 5,10,15,20-ТЕТРАКИС-(3-N-МЕТИЛПИРИДИЛ)-ПОРФИРИНА

The spectral properties of the 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(3-N-methylpyridyl)-porphyrin were studied in the water solution and the temporal evolution of absorption spectra was revealed. The origin of the spectral changes was found to be due to the solution heterogeneity which is based on the coexistence of atropoisomers. These atropoisomers differ in their pyridyl groups, positioning relative to the mean plane of the tetrapyrrolic macrocycle due to an unrestricted rotation of substituents around the Сm–С1 bond. The observed spectral changes are shown to reflect the redistribution of the atropoisomer concentrations after establishing the equilibrium distribution that is over approximately within 300 hours after the preparation of a solution at a temperature of 290 ± 2 K. The atropoisomerization is suggested to be the inherent property of all 5,10,15,20-tetraarylporphyrins with an asymmetric substitution of aryl groups with respect to the axis passing through the Сm–С1 bond. The prospects for the practical applications of the revealed phenomenon are discussed.
