High Power, Continuous-wave Supercontinuum Generation in Highly Nonlinear Fibers Pumped with High Order, Cascaded Raman Fiber Amplifiers
A novel method for efficient generation of high power, equalized
continuous-wave supercontinuum source in an all conventional silica fiber
architecture is demonstrated. Highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF) is pumped in its
anomalous dispersion region using a novel, high power, L-band laser. The L-band
laser encompasses a 6th order cascaded Raman amplifier which is pumped with a
high power Ytterbium doped fiber laser and amplifies a low-power, tunable
L-band seed source. The supercontinuum generated 35W of power with ~40%
efficiency. The Supercontinuum spectrum was measured to have a high degree of
flatness of better than 5 dB over 400 nm of bandwidth (1.3 - 1.7 micron,
limited by spectrum analyzer range) and a power spectral density in this region

EFFECT OF FERTILIZER TREATED RHIZOBIUM SP. AND AZOTOBACTER SP. ON INDOLE ACETIC ACID (IAA) PRODUCTION AND INDUCING VEGETATIVE CHARACTERISTICS OF ARACHIS HYPOGAEA
The Indole – 3 – acetic acid (IAA) production was found to be mazimum as 1.86 ug/ml and 1.29ug/ml by Azotobacter sp. and Rhizobium sp. respectively. The results reveal that the wild types of (RT3 and AT3) Rhizobium sp. and Azotobacter sp. produced good vegetative characteristics increased root length and shoot length of seedlings. Fertilizer treated Rhizobium sp. and Azotobacter sp. (mutants) produced only decreased shoot length, root length and number of nodules formed in Arachis hypogaea when compared to wild type. Key words:Azotobacter sp., Rhizobium sp., IAA, Fertilizer, Arachis hypogaea.Â
Coping Ability of Medical and Nursing Students: A Cause of Concern
Background: Medical students today are subject to a variety of stress; academic, social, emotional or stress in the form of affliction of health during their stay at medical school. The physiological response to these depends on various factors including their inherent coping abilities. This study was designed to examine the coping ability of medical and nursing students at the time of admission to medical school. Materials and Methods: 42 medical and 34 nursing students volunteered for the study. They were administered the BAI questionnaire and classified as good and poor adjusters based on their score. Results: The study revealed an unsatisfactory overall coping ability to be prevalent among medical and nursing students. Conclusion: This study showed that there is a need for orientation and counselling of medical and nursing students at the start of college
Two-Hop Routing with Traffic-Differentiation for QoS Guarantee in Wireless Sensor Networks
This paper proposes a Traffic-Differentiated Two-Hop Routing protocol for
Quality of Service (QoS) in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). It targets WSN
applications having different types of data traffic with several priorities.
The protocol achieves to increase Packet Reception Ratio (PRR) and reduce
end-to-end delay while considering multi-queue priority policy, two-hop
neighborhood information, link reliability and power efficiency. The protocol
is modular and utilizes effective methods for estimating the link metrics.
Numerical results show that the proposed protocol is a feasible solution to
addresses QoS service differenti- ation for traffic with different priorities.Comment: 13 page
Effect of different fractions of Hibiscus rosa sinensis leaf extract on islets of Langerhans and antioxidant activity in non-obese diabetic (NOD) mouse
The present investigation was undertaken to study the effect of Hibiscus rosa sinensis leaf extract fractions on islets of Langerhans, total antioxidant activity in non-obese diabetic (NOD) mouse. Two sets of experiments were conducted. First experiment was designed to test the hypoglycemic properties of different isolated fractions. Five fractions were screened for hypoglycemic property. Fractions F3, F4 and F5 showed hypoglycemic in NOD mice. Second set of experiment was conducted to assess the effects of above fractions on the diameter of islets of Langerhans and on the â-cells number and total antioxidant capacity (TAC). All the fractions had a significant effect in the enhancement of diameter of islets of Langerhans and the â-cell number and antioxidant active (total antioxidant capacity) compared with control NOD mice
