An Analysis of the Microeconomic Determinants of Travel Frequency

A critical factor in predicting the demand for tourism within a certain period of time is the number of trips individuals take. New tourists’ behaviour shows a tendency toward more frequent travel. Nevertheless, the frequency of travel has received little attention in empirical literature. This paper uses household data to examine the determinants of the number of quarters with positive tourist expenditure within a year. The results highlight the relevance in travel frequency analyses of distinguishing between the participation decision and the frequency decision conditional on participation. Many socio-demographic variables only show explanatory power for the participation decision. The two most relevant factors by far in explaining each decision are the previous year tourism demand decisions (suggesting evidence of habit persistence in tourism decisions) and disposable income, although with an income elasticity below the unit.Tourism demand, frequency of travel, habit persistence, household data.

Adult mental health and addiction nursing roles: 2014 survey of Vote Health funded services

Introduction: Nurses are the largest registered health professional workforce group in New Zealand. As at 1 March 2014 more than 51,000 nurses had a current practising certificate. Planning for the future of New Zealand’s nursing workforce is challenging, particularly because there is a lack of quality workforce data. Access to reliable information for planning purposes is vital given that half of the present nursing workforce is expected to retire by 2035. This report aims to support future health workforce planning with robust information about the dedicated nurse positions in New Zealand’s adult mental health and addiction services. It describes the size and distribution of this nursing workforce by provider, roles, and services delivered. It also provides information about the number of vacancies and perceived recruitment issues. The information was collected in the 2014 More than numbers organisational workforce survey

In contrast to its presentation as an emerging sector, the article emphasizes that working conditions in the sector are lower than the national average. The article argues that job insecurity in the sector will increase in the future, so to counteract this, active public policy is necessary

Anna Senyé Ramisa (Manlleu, 1881-Barcelona, 1956) fou una dona de caràcter aventurer que va tenir una vida poc convencional. Va escriure en diferents revistes i diaris catalans des de 1914 i durant la primera meitat del segle xx, com a poeta, periodista i activista social, amb la publicació d’articles i manifestos en defensa dels drets dels animals. Senyé també participà en els Jocs Florals i va guanyar-hi premis en els celebrats a l’Escala i a Molins de Rei. L’any 1922 va publicar el seu treball poètic en un volum, Remolinad
