Photolytic and thermolytic decomposition products from iron pentacarbonyl adsorbed on Y zeolite
Zeolite supported iron systems obtained by photolysis and thermolysis of Fe(CO)5/Na---Y adducts are characterized via evaluation of the respective magnetic isotherms taken with a FONER magnetometer at T = 4.2 K. Thermolysis under fast heating in inert gas and under fluidized shallow bed conditions completes within a few minutes at not, vert, similar 500 K, and gives iron clusters of which at least 70 to 90 wt% is smaller than 1 nm. Prolonged photolysis at 290 K in the same fluidized bed conditions does not result in the formation of ‘naked’ iron(O) clusters, but gives a limited fraction of magnetically coupled Fex(CO)y entities. Photodimerization cannot be excluded to be the main reaction path
Integrating Performance Analysis in Parallel Software Engineering
Modern computational software is increasingly large in terms of lines of code, number of developers, intended longevity, and complexity of intended architectures. While tools exist to mitigate the problems this type of software causes for the development of functional software, no solutions exist to deal with the problems it causes for performance. This thesis introduces a design called the Software Development Performance Analysis System, or SDPAS. SDPAS observes the performance of software tests as software is developed, tracking builds, tests, and developers in order to provide data with which to analyze a software development process. SDPAS integrates with the CMake build and test suite to obtain data about builds and provide consistent tests, with git to obtain data about how software is changing. SDPAS also integrates with TAU to obtain performance data and store it along with the data obtained from other tools. The utility of SDPAS is observed on two pieces of production software
Restoring Civic Virtue: The Buckley Model
The political life of William F. Buckley Jr. stands as a model for reinvigorating the civic virtue that the American founders recognized as necessary.

Disentangling Race and Politics: Racial Gerrymandering in South Carolina\u27s First Congressional District
After the 2020 Census, South Carolina\u27s Republican-controlled legislature redrew the boundaries for Congressional District 1, historically anchored in Charleston County. After thirty-thousand African American voters were moved out of District 1 and into District 6, the South Carolina State Conference of the NAACP challenged the new map as an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. A three-judge district court panel agreed, finding that race predominated above other factors in the map redraw. On appeal, the question remains not only whether the state legislature used race above other factors in its map design, but also how plaintiffs are expected to prove these claims in an era where gerrymandering for partisan purposes is allowed. Based on the deferential clear error standard of review, the Court should affirm the district court\u27s finding that race was the predominant factor. A reversal could significantly hinder plaintiffs\u27 ability to use statistical evidence to prove racial gerrymandering cases in the future
