Studies on histological changes of the rotator cuff attempt to define the pathogenesis of cuff rupture, the relative frequency of partial and total ones, the age of occurrence of tendon disorders; Authors distinguish recent and chronic disease processes on the basis of frequency, distribution, location and type of degenerative lesions found, supporting the intrinsic theory, based on the pro- gressive degeneration of the tendon tissue, or the extrinsic one, according to which the reason of the lesions would be the subacromial impinge- ment

Il sovraccarico funzionale del piede in relazione alla morfologia della volta plantare: osservazioni in un gruppo di podisti agonisti.

Fitness running and walking are popular activities throughout the world, use to improve cardiovascular health and prevent metabolic disease. The high frequency of mechanical stress forces applied to the plantar arch during long distance running and walking can result in overuse injuries. The configuration of the plantar arch is often considered a predisposing factor for this disorder. In this article the anthropometric data, exercise history and foot injury data for a group of 22 competitive runners and walkers were correlated with the plantar arch configuration as determined by podoscopic examination

    Piede torto congenito: disabilità ovviabile?

Congenital idiopathic clubfoot is not an uncommon condition. The treatment of congenital idiopathic clubfoot is controversial, infact the determination of the optimum treatment has been hampered by the lack of long-term follow-up studies. In the present study we analyzed the longterm results of two particulary cases;these cases permit us to reject the concept of disability from treated clubfoot, whatever the choice of the treatment may be, surgical or conservative

Radiofrequency (13.56 MHz) glow discharges fed with vapors of (3S)-cis-3,6-dimethyl-1,4-dioxane-2,5-dione (cyclic L-lactide) were used to deposit stable dense COOH groups. The L-lactide is the solid intermediate compound formed during the conventional polymerization reaction of poly lactic acid (PLA), a biodegradable polymer used in biomaterials. The coatings have been characterized by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and water contact angle (WCA) measurements. The percentage of surface carboxyl groups was determined by the Toluidine Blue O (TBO) test
