Medical Manikin Augmented Reality Simulation (M2ARS)
The Medical Manikin Augmented Reality Simulation (M2ARS) is an augmented reality simulation application built for the Microsoft HoloLens 2 that uses the principles of anatomy transfer to overlay human anatomical structures onto a medical manikin digitally. These structures currently consist of the skeletal, muscular, and circulatory systems. In addition, a model of the lungs and an animated heart are also available within the simulation. M2ARS allows the user to view these structures in a manner that is both visually and spatially accurate to the human body. This application contains two modes; an augmented reality mode, which uses a manikin, and a standalone virtual environment, which does not require a manikin. M2ARS aims to assist medical students and practitioners in their studies by providing an interactive method to better understand anatomical structures
Discontinuity of a degenerating escape rate
We look at degenerating meromorphic families of rational maps on
-- holomorphically parameterized by a punctured disk -- and we
provide examples where the bifurcation current fails to have a bounded
potential in a neighborhood of the puncture. This is in contrast to the recent
result of Favre-Gauthier that we always have continuity across the puncture for
families of polynomials; and it provides a counterexample to a conjecture posed
by Favre in 2016. We explain why our construction fails for polynomial families
and for families of rational maps defined over finite extensions of the
rationals .Comment: 13 page
Designing a Locally Manufacturable Wheelchair for Nepal
People with disabilities in developing countries often lack the basic equipment needed to assist them in their daily lives. International Nepal Fellowship (INF) is a Christian medical organization located in Nepal that provides medical care and assistance to people with disabilities and other conditions. Currently, INF imports expensive wheelchairs that undergo a prolonged border process before being received. INF has reached out to the Collaboratory to design a wheelchair that can withstand the challenges of Nepal’s terrain and can be manufactured from local materials. The Nepal Wheelchair team has set out to design a wheelchair that can fulfill their needs. In previous work, the team researched wheelchair designs and took a trip to Nepal. From this trip, more information was gained, an initial prototype was constructed, and locally available materials and parts from Nepal were brought back. This year, as a result of knowledge gained through constructing the second prototype, many design changes were tested and implemented. The team researched standards and created testing procedures to ensure the changes to the rear wheel mount, caster wheel mount, footrest, and seat design would uphold the strength and durability of the wheelchair. These design changes have enhanced patient safety and experience in the wheelchair while still keeping the design easily manufacturable. The team also researched options for adding push rims and through using a roller bender were able to construct them. Moving forward, the team will continue to finalize manufacturing documentation and take a second trip to Nepal this May.

Home Monitoring to Detect Progression of Interstitial Lung Disease:A Prospective Cohort Study
In this prospective observational cohort study, 20 IPF and non-IPF patients, as diagnosed by a multidisciplinary team were recruited from the University College London Hospital (UCLH) between August 2021 and January 2022 using 2018 ATS criteria. Patients who met the criteria for ILD other than IPF, including those with sarcoidosis, and hypersensitivity pneumonitis, were grouped together as non-IPF. They were monitored over 26 weeks using the RADAR-Base mHealth platform. Data collection tools included: questionnaires, a Garmin wearable device, finger pulse oximeter and a NuvoAir smart-spirometer.7 In addition, participants underwent lung function testing in a hospital setting as part of their usual hospital visits. Patients were divided into two groups: progressed and stable. Progression was defined as a ≥5% decline in forced vital capacity (FVC) at6 months by hospital-based spirometry and/or death
Cultivation of algae in photobioreator and obtention of biodiesel
In this work we described the cultivation of Chlorella vulgaris in a photobioreactor to algal biomass production. The dried biomass was used as feedstock for biodiesel production, it presented 26% lipids and via sonocatalysis stage of the methodology resulted in 60% of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME). The FAME content was confirmed by Gas Chromatography (GC).CNPqFAPERGSCoordenacao de Aperfeicoamento de Pessoal de Nivel Superior (CAPES
