    COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF METAL NANOPARTICLES SYNTHESIZED FROM HIBISCUS ROSA SINESIS AND THEIR ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY ESTIMATION AGAINST NINE PATHOGENIC BACTERIA

    Objective: This study demonstates  a simple, cost effective protocol  for biosynthesis of stable silver (Ag) and gold (Au) nanoparticles from Hibiscus Rosa sinesis and their comparison by applying antibacterial activities against nine pathogenic bacterial species.Methods: Silver (Ag) and gold (Au) nanoparticles were biosynthesized from Hibiscus Rosa sinesis were characterized by UV–VIS spectroscopy, FTIR and TEM. The antibacterial activities  of AgNPs  and AuNPs were evaluated against  9 pathogenic bacterial species  Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Bacillus subtilis Micrococcus luteus, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Enterobacter aerogens, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Aeromonas hydrophila by the agar disc diffusion method.Results: Synthesized AgNPs  were obtained in 13.01 to 28.14 nm size range, while AuNPs were in  6.32 to 18.19 nm size range. The results of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectra indicates  that the AuNPs are bound to amine groups and the AgNPs to carboxylate ion groups. The antibacterial activities  of AgNPs,  the zone of inhibition significantly increased with the  increases of concentrations of AgNPs in all pathogenic bacterial species  except  in the case of S. epidermidis at 50%, S. aerogenes and A. hydrophila at 70%, while in case of AuNPs antibacterial activity  was displayed  only against B. subtilis at 20% and 100% concentration.Conclusion: This study suggests that AgNPs exhibits outstanding antibacterial activity against pathogenic bacteria as compared to AuNPs synthesized from Hibiscus Rosa sinensis leaf extract and insights to their potential applicability as an alternative antibacterial  agent in microbial and human health system to reduce the resistance ability of pathogenic bacteria.  Â

    The present study tries of evaluate the effectiveness and challenges faced by adopting RPO practice in the India Hotel sector. The research objectives are driven from the purpose of the research which deals with distinct issues related to RPO and various perspectives of utilizing RPO. These objectives guided in identifying factors influencing the rationale for outsourcing the recruitment processes. The need for RPO has gained significance with the impact of organizational structure, stringent project deadlines, insufficient time for internal HR department for recruiting personnel, inefficiencies in integrating all stages of recruitment and expansion of geographies. The study is developed on building a theoretical framework which is prepared through analysing previous literature about outsourcing, and their utilization and efficiency in organizations. Mixed method approach has been followed to analyse with better validity and exploration of the context related to the effectiveness of RPO in the Indian hotel sector. The key findings indicated that the culture was positive influence on the usage of RPO in the organizations, in terms of adopting RPO during expansion of geographies and globalization. Also, the organizational structure was the major challenge in adopting these practices along with monitoring the outsourcing activities, lack of communication and inefficient HR practices

    Occurrence of Hysteresis like behavior of resistance of Sb2Te3Sb_2 Te_3 film in heating-cooling cycle

    Experimental observations of a peculiar behavior observed on heating and cooling Sb2Te3{\rm Sb_2Te_3} films at different heating and cooling rate are detailed. The film regained its original resistance, forming a closed loop, on the completion of the heating-cooling cycle which was reproducible for identical conditions of heating and cooling. The area enclosed by the loop was found to depend on (i) the thickness of the film, (ii) the heating rate, (iii) the maximum temperature to which film was heated and (iv) the cooling rate. The observations are explained on basis of model which considers the film to be a resultant of parallel resistances. The film's finite thermal conductivity gives rise to a temperature gradient along the thickness of the film, due to this and the temperature coefficient of resistance, the parallel combination of resistance changes with temperature. Difference in heating and cooling rates give different temperature gradient, which explains the observed hysteresis.Comment: 21 pages and 10 figure

Cyanobacteria are microbial factories for a wide range of products. They are reservoirs of bioactive compounds which have the potential to act as precursors of novel drug molecules. A plethora of algae have been documented for their therapeutic abilities in treating diseases. A plethora of antioxidative compounds along with enzymes are present in cyanobacteria, possessing applications in nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals, which is quite evident from the products available in the market. This chapter highlights the significant leads in the area of cyanobacteria-based antioxidants. A sustainable approach to envisaging cyanobacteria as competent antioxidants can open new doors in prevention, treatment, and control of a plethora of diseases

    Robotic intraoperative tracheal repair during retrosternal malignant goiter excision: an anesthetic challenge

    Thyroidectomy is the treatment of choice for large retrosternal goiters. These tumors often are large enough to require thoracotomy. Robotic surgery can help in avoiding thoracotomy and its associated post operative complications. Rarely, such tumors and their surgery can be complicated by tracheal tears. Such tears, especially those near the carina are difficult to repair and often require open thoracotomy. We described such a case where we avoided open thoracotomy and instead performed a minimally invasive robotic repair of tracheal tear. The maintenance of ventilation during this robotic repair was critical. A combination of several airway devices was used to allow the complex surgical repair to be executed without affecting ventilation

    Ball valving laryngeal masses: a difficult “ball” in the anaesthetists’ court

    Dynamic airway obstruction (also called ball-valve effect) is a serious condition often seen in glottic lesions. This is an anesthetic challenge as total airway obstruction can occur after the induction of general anesthesia. We present a case of a middle aged female who had a large laryngeal mass which was showing ball-valve effect. The patient had refused for tracheostomy despite it being the safest procedure in the circumstances. We then performed videolaryngoscopy and managed to intubate the patient with the help of some improvisation. The patient underwent a succesful and uneventful surgery
