    Análisis de la formación en el uso del software disciplinar de los estudiantes de contaduría pública. Un estudio de caso

    The development of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and its impact on the current economy brings with it new demands for the labor market, for which higher education has the need to provide future professionals with skills related to the management of ICT and particularly with the management of software focused on their discipline. This study aims to analyze how the University Center for Administrative Economic Sciences from the University of Guadalajara has made changes within it to generate these skills, specifically, the Bachelor of Public Accounting is examined. Secondly, it seeks to identify the knowledge related to the use and management of disciplinary software that students acquire in their academic career. Documentary and field research was carried out. The documentary review included the consultation of reports, institutional pages and development plans. On the other hand, the field research collects information through a questionnaire to students in the 6th and 8th semester of the degree about their knowledge of disciplinary software. The results reveal that the University and the university center do not have institutional policies for the integration of ICT, despite this, actions have been implemented but not enough to incorporate disciplinary software in the public accounting degree. Regarding the knowledge of the students, they have general digital skills and, to a lesser extent, knowledge and use of software related to their disciplinary profile. It is added that it is in the professional practices where the students declare having obtained this type of knowledge.El desarrollo de las Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicación (TIC) y su impacto en la economía actual trae consigo nuevas demandas para el mercado laboral; la educación superior tiene la necesidad de brindar a los futuros profesionistas habilidades relacionadas con el manejo de las TIC y particularmente con el manejo de software enfocado a su disciplina. Además, se busca identificar los conocimientos relacionados con el uso y manejo de softwares disciplinares que adquieren los estudiantes en su trayectoria académica. Se realizó una investigación documental y de campo. El análisis de información incluyó la consulta de informes, páginas institucionales y planes de desarrollo. Por su parte, la investigación de campo recolecta información a través de un cuestionario a estudiantes de 6° y 8° semestre de la licenciatura sobre sus conocimientos de software disciplinar. Los resultados revelan que la Universidad y el centro universitario no cuentan con políticas institucionales para la integración de TIC, a pesar de ello se han implementado acciones, no suficientes, para incorporar software disciplinar en la licenciatura de contaduría pública. En cuanto al conocimiento de los estudiantes, cuentan con habilidades digitales generales y en menor medida, conocimiento y uso de software relacionado con su perfil disciplinar. Se añade, que es en las prácticas profesionales dónde los estudiantes declaran haber obtenido este tipo de conocimientos

    On the MIMO Capacity for Distributed System under Composite Rayleigh/Rician Fading and Shadowing

    Wireless channels are commonly affected by short-term fading and long-term fading (shadowing). The shadowing effects must be taken into account also when mobility is present in the wireless scenario. Using a composite fading model, the total channel capacity can be studied for a scenario with short-term Rayleigh fading along with shadowing. This work provides quantitative results for these kinds of scenarios with Rayleigh fading and shadowing, considering also multiple-input and multiple-output systems, which have not been previously reported. In addition, the channel capacity has been studied in depth in its relation with the shadowing level, signal to noise ratio, and the number of elements in the multiple-input and multiple-output system. Moreover, the channel performance with shadowing has been compared to the one without it. Furthermore, Rician model with shadowing is studied and its results are reported. In addition, correlated and experimental results are provided. It is identified that the distributed MIMO systems can benefit from shadowing in Rician channels. This advantage has not been reported previously.     Novel purine chemotypes with activity against Plasmodium 2 falciparum and Trypanosoma cruzi

    Malaria and Chagas disease, caused by Plasmodium spp. and Trypanosoma cruzi parasites, remain important global health problems. Available treatments for those diseases present several limitations, such as lack of efficacy, toxic side effects, and drug resistance. Thus, new drugs are urgently needed. The discovery of new drugs may be benefited by considering the significant biological differences between hosts and parasites. One of the most striking differences is found in the purine metabolism, because most of the parasites are incapable of de novo purine biosynthesis. Herein, we have analyzed the in vitro anti-P. falciparum and anti-T. cruzi activity of a collection of 81 purine derivatives and pyrimidine analogs. We firstly used a primary screening at three fixed concentrations (100, 10, and 1 µM) and progressed those compounds that kept the growth of the parasites < 30% at 100 µM to dose–response assays. Then, we performed two different cytotoxicity assays on Vero cells and human HepG2 cells. Finally, compounds specifically active against T. cruzi were tested against intracellular amastigote forms. Purines 33 (IC50 = 19.19 µM) and 76 (IC50 = 18.27 µM) were the most potent against P. falciparum. On the other hand, 6D (IC50 = 3.78 µM) and 34 (IC50 = 4.24 µM) were identified as hit purines against T. cruzi amastigotes. Moreover, an in silico docking study revealed that P. falciparum and T. cruzi hypoxanthine guanine phosphoribosyltransferase enzymes could be the potential targets of those compounds.     Comparison of different prognostic scores for patients with cirrhosis hospitalized with SARS-CoV-2 infection

    Introduction and Objectives: Viral infections have been described to increase the risk of decompensation in patients with cirrhosis. We aimed to determine the effect of SARS-CoV-2 infection on outcome of hospitalized patients with cirrhosis and to compare the performance of different prognostic models for predicting mortality. Patients: We performed a prospective cohort study including 2211 hospitalized patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection from April 15, 2020 through October 1, 2020 in 38 Hospitals from 11 Latin American countries. We registered clinical and laboratory parameters of patients with and without cirrhosis. All patients were followed until discharge or death. We evaluated the prognostic performance of different scoring systems to predict mortality in patients with cirrhosis using ROC curves. Results: Overall, 4.6% (CI 3.7–5.6) subjects had cirrhosis (n = 96). Baseline Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) class was assessed: CTP-A (23%), CTP-B (45%) and CTP-C (32%); median MELD-Na score was 19 (IQR 14−25). Mortality was 47% in patients with cirrhosis and 16% in patients without cirrhosis (P 30. The areas under the ROC curves for performance evaluation in predicting 28-days mortality for Chronic Liver Failure Consortium (CLIF-C), North American Consortium for the Study of End-Stage Liver Disease (NACSELD), CTP score and MELD-Na were 0.85, 0.75, 0.69, 0.67; respectively (P < .0001). Conclusions: SARS-CoV-2 infection is associated with elevated mortality in patients with cirrhosis.     Keck Infrared Transient Survey I: Survey Description and Data Release 1

    We present the Keck Infrared Transient Survey (KITS), a NASA Key Strategic Mission Support program to obtain near-infrared (NIR) spectra of astrophysical transients of all types, and its first data release, consisting of 105 NIR spectra of 50 transients. Such a data set is essential as we enter a new era of IR astronomy with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and the upcoming Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope (Roman). NIR spectral templates will be essential to search JWST images for stellar explosions of the first stars and to plan an effective Roma} SN Ia cosmology survey, both key science objectives for mission success. Between 2022 February and 2023 July, we systematically obtained 274 NIR spectra of 146 astronomical transients, representing a significant increase in the number of available NIR spectra in the literature. The first data release includes data from the 2022A semester. We systematically observed three samples: a flux-limited sample that includes all transients <<17 mag in a red optical band (usually ZTF r or ATLAS o bands); a volume-limited sample including all transients within redshift z<0.01z < 0.01 (D50D \approx 50 Mpc); and an SN Ia sample targeting objects at phases and light-curve parameters that had scant existing NIR data in the literature. The flux-limited sample is 39% complete (60% excluding SNe Ia), while the volume-limited sample is 54% complete and is 79% complete to z=0.005z = 0.005. All completeness numbers will rise with the inclusion of data from other telescopes in future data releases. Transient classes observed include common Type Ia and core-collapse supernovae, tidal disruption events (TDEs), luminous red novae, and the newly categorized hydrogen-free/helium-poor interacting Type Icn supernovae. We describe our observing procedures and data reduction using Pypeit, which requires minimal human interaction to ensure reproducibility

    Euclid preparation. XXIV. Calibration of the halo mass function in Λ(ν)\Lambda(\nu)CDM cosmologies

    Euclid's photometric galaxy cluster survey has the potential to be a very competitive cosmological probe. The main cosmological probe with observations of clusters is their number count, within which the halo mass function (HMF) is a key theoretical quantity. We present a new calibration of the analytic HMF, at the level of accuracy and precision required for the uncertainty in this quantity to be subdominant with respect to other sources of uncertainty in recovering cosmological parameters from Euclid cluster counts. Our model is calibrated against a suite of N-body simulations using a Bayesian approach taking into account systematic errors arising from numerical effects in the simulation. First, we test the convergence of HMF predictions from different N-body codes, by using initial conditions generated with different orders of Lagrangian Perturbation theory, and adopting different simulation box sizes and mass resolution. Then, we quantify the effect of using different halo-finder algorithms, and how the resulting differences propagate to the cosmological constraints. In order to trace the violation of universality in the HMF, we also analyse simulations based on initial conditions characterised by scale-free power spectra with different spectral indexes, assuming both Einstein--de Sitter and standard Λ\LambdaCDM expansion histories. Based on these results, we construct a fitting function for the HMF that we demonstrate to be sub-percent accurate in reproducing results from 9 different variants of the Λ\LambdaCDM model including massive neutrinos cosmologies. The calibration systematic uncertainty is largely sub-dominant with respect to the expected precision of future mass-observation relations; with the only notable exception of the effect due to the halo finder, that could lead to biased cosmological inference.Comment: 24 pages, 21 figures, 5 tables, 3 appendixes

    Euclid preparation: XXXI. The effect of the variations in photometric passbands on photometric-redshift accuracy

    The technique of photometric redshifts has become essential for the exploitation of multi-band extragalactic surveys. While the requirements on photometric redshifts for the study of galaxy evolution mostly pertain to the precision and to the fraction of outliers, the most stringent requirement in their use in cosmology is on the accuracy, with a level of bias at the sub-percent level for the Euclid cosmology mission. A separate, and challenging, calibration process is needed to control the bias at this level of accuracy. The bias in photometric redshifts has several distinct origins that may not always be easily overcome. We identify here one source of bias linked to the spatial or time variability of the passbands used to determine the photometric colours of galaxies. We first quantified the effect as observed on several well-known photometric cameras, and found in particular that, due to the properties of optical filters, the redshifts of off-axis sources are usually overestimated. We show using simple simulations that the detailed and complex changes in the shape can be mostly ignored and that it is sufficient to know the mean wavelength of the passbands of each photometric observation to correct almost exactly for this bias; the key point is that this mean wavelength is independent of the spectral energy distribution of the source. We use this property to propose a correction that can be computationally efficiently implemented in some photometric-redshift algorithms, in particular template-fitting. We verified that our algorithm, implemented in the new photometric-redshift code Phosphoros, can effectively reduce the bias in photometric redshifts on real data using the CFHTLS T007 survey, with an average measured bias Δz over the redshift range 0.4 ≤ z ≤ 0.7 decreasing by about 0.02, specifically from Δz ≃ 0.04 to Δz ≃ 0.02 around z = 0.5. Our algorithm is also able to produce corrected photometry for other applications
