“You can tell the condition of a nation by looking at the status of its women” -Jawaharlal Nehru Empowerment is an active multidimensional process which should enable women to realize their full identity and power in all spheres of life. Empowerment literally means making someone powerful, facilitating the weak to attain strength, to increase one’s self-esteem, to help someone to be assertive/self-confident, to enable someone to confront injustice and oppression and to support someone to fight for  her rights. Educated women can play a pivotal role in eradicating poverty and accelerating development process. They can take active part in all the spheres of life. Educated mothers can take care of the education of their children irrespective of the boys or girls. The children in turn improve their capabilities and thereby enlarge their choices, enjoying long and healthy life, educated environment having access to the resources because of their better education qualifications. Thus peace, prosperity and stability of a family depend on the females who formulate the household budget in a manner that it builds up the healthy family environment. The family budget is oriented towards the provision of qualitative education and health facilities to the children so that they become competitive and promote cohesive social and economic development benefiting all the sections in the country.  In this way the paper highlights process, indicators, levels of women empowerment, educational position of rural women, factors responsible for poor female literacy, education - a tool for empowerment and role of ICT in women’s education for empowerment

Significance of coronary artery calcium scoring in patients with obstructive and non-obstructive coronary artery disease following stemi.

Coronary artery calcification (CAC) occurs in small amounts in the early lesions of atherosclerosis that appear in the second and third decades of life, but it is found more frequently in advanced lesions and in older age. C o r o n ary arterial calcification is part of the development of atherosclerosis, occurs almost exclusively in atherosclerotic arteries, and is absent in the normal vessel wall A positive CT study (defined as presence of any CAC) is nearly 100% specific for atheromatous coronary plaque. Since both obstructive and nonobstructive lesions can have calcification present in the intima, CAC is not specific for obstructive coronary disease. The site and the amount of coronary artery calcium and the percent of coronary luminal narrowing at the same anatomic site, the relation is nonlinear and has large confidence limits. As the occurrence of calcification reflects an advanced stage of plaque development, some researchers have proposed that the correlation between coronary calcification and acute coronary events may be suboptimal based largely on angiographic series5. In order to understand this apparent conflict between the stability of a calcified lesion and CHD event rates, one must recognize the association between atherosclerotic plaque extent and more frequent calcified and noncalcified plaque. That is, patients who have calcified plaque are also more likely to have non-calcified or "soft" plaque that is prone to rupture and acute coronary thrombosis. AIM OF THE STUDY: To compare CAC (coronary artery calcium) score in patients with Obstructive and Non obstructive CAD. To compare CAC score in patients with single and multivessel disease. To compare CAC score in males and females. To compare CAC score in those with and without HT, Smoking and Diabetes. To compare CAC score between IRA and other vessels in multivessel disease. CONCLUSION: 1) Sixty four slice MDCT derived CAC score is a useful tool to assess angiographic severity in Post MI population. 2) CAC scores showed good correlation in patients with obstructive CAD especially in Elderly, Diabetics and in those with a family history of CAD. 3) There is less correlation of CAC score with regards to other conventional risk factors like Gender, Hypertension and Smoking in both obstructive and non obstructive CAD. 4) CAC score was not useful to identity infarct related artery. 5) There was no linear correlation between CAC score and the number of vessel involvement. 6) There was a significant negative correlation in hypertensive patients among non obstructive CAD population

Abstract: The main objective of this study is to find out the relationship between personality and achievement in botany of higher secondary students. The study also aims to find out the difference in personality and achievement in botany of higher secondary students with respect to Gender, Residential area, Types of management, Type of family. Survey method has been used in the present study. Personality Questionnaire (1975) constructed and standardized by Eysenck.H J. and Sybil.B.G. was used to collect the data from higher secondary school students. The marks in botany obtained during the half yearly examination were taken for the investigation. Random sampling technique was used for collection of data. The sample size was 320 higher secondary school students of Chennai and kancheepuram districts. For analyzing the data, mean, standard deviation,"t" -test and correlation was used. The major findings of this study are: (1) The study reveals that there is a positive co-relation between the personality and achievement in botany among higher secondary students

Investigating the Photocatalytic Performances of Nanocomposites Containing Narrow-band-gap Copolymers and ZnO

Composites of ZnO and conjugated polymers find applications in removal of polluting dyes from industrial wastes. The choice of functionality and repeating unit of polymer is important to improve the efficacy of the process. While heterocyclic diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) -based polymers are often considered as the most promising donor moiety in traditional bulk heterojunction solar cell devices, benzothiadiazole-based polymers are reported to show the best performance as photosensitizer for dye degradation. In this paper, we report for the first time the preparation of copolymers containing both the above mentioned heterocyclic repeating units linked directly or by a double bond. We were delighted to observe broad spectrum of substantial light absorption from UV to NIR range and a low band gap for one of the polymers, the main reason behind higher efficacy in dye removal under sunlight. Finally, we studied the efficacy of the polymers as photosensitizer for ZnO promoted dye degradation process which showed almost a complete degradation of a model dye only within two hours, one of the best results reported recently using the conjugated polymers
