Optimizing Service Differentiation Scheme with Sized-based Queue Management in DiffServ Networks
In this paper we introduced Modified Sized-based Queue Management as a
dropping scheme that aims to fairly prioritize and allocate more service to
VoIP traffic over bulk data like FTP as the former one usually has small packet
size with less impact to the network congestion. In the same time, we want to
guarantee that this prioritization is fair enough for both traffic types. On
the other hand we study the total link delay over the congestive link with the
attempt to alleviate this congestion as much as possible at the by function of
early congestion notification. Our M-SQM scheme has been evaluated with NS2
experiments to measure the packets received from both and total link-delay for
different traffic. The performance evaluation results of M-SQM have been
validated and graphically compared with the performance of other three legacy
AQMs (RED, RIO, and PI). It is depicted that our M-SQM outperformed these AQMs

Designing power system stabilizer for multimachine power system using neuro-fuzzy algorithm
This paper describes a design procedure for a fuzzy logic based power system stabilizer (FLPSS) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and investigates their robustness for a multi-machine power system. Speed deviation of a machine and its derivative are chosen as the input signals to the FLPSS. A four-machine and a two-area power system is used as the case study. Computer simulations for the test system subjected to transient disturbances i.e. a three phase fault, were carried out and the results showed that the proposed controller is able to prove its effectiveness and improve the system damping when compared to a conventional lead-lag based power system stabilizer controller
Metal concentrations in Sungai Sedili Kecil, Johor, Peninsular Malaysia
Water and sediment from five sampling stations in Sungai Sedili Kecil were sampled in October 2010 and analyzed for 11 metals including cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), lead (Pb), aluminium (Al), zinc (Zn), nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), arsenic (As) and argentum (Ar). Results showed that the mean dissolved metal concentrations (in μg/L) in Sungai Sedili waters based on 5 sampling stations (in descending order) for Fe, Al, Zn, Cu, As, Mn, Ni, Pb, Co, Cd and Ag were 443.7, 52.7, 50.2, 34.2, 25.9, 20.3, 6.8, 1.4, 0.77, 0.67 and 0.10 μg/L, respectively. Mean metal concentrations (in μg/g dry weight) for sediments (in descending order) for Fe, Al, Mn, Zn, Pb, Cu, As, Ni, Co, Cd and Ag were 33389.4, 17118.7, 190.5, 55.1, 29.1, 26.3, 19.3, 10.9, 4.7, 0.18 and 0.12 μg/g, respectively. A comparison with various water and sediment quality standards showed that the mean metal concentrations in surface water and sediment of Sungai Sedili Kecil were low and within the range of natural background except for Cu and Fe in water
Predicting protein-protein interactions as a one-class classification problem
Protein-protein interactions represent a key step in understanding proteins functions. This is due to the fact that proteins usually work in context of other proteins and rarely function alone. Machine learning techniques have been used to predict protein-protein interactions. However, most of these techniques address this problem as a binary classification problem. While it is easy to get a dataset of interacting protein as positive example, there is no experimentally confirmed non-interacting protein to be considered as a negative set. Therefore, in this paper we solve this problem as a one-class classification problem using One-Class SVM (OCSVM). Using only positive examples (interacting protein pairs) for training, the OCSVM achieves accuracy of 80%. These results imply that protein-protein interaction can be predicted using one-class classifier with reliable accuracy
Critical powder loading and the rheology of nanosized cemented carbide with titanium carbide as grain growth inhibitor for injection molding
The purpose of this paper is to determine the critical powder loading of WC-Co and to study the effect of TiC powder on the rheological behavior of MIM feedstock. WC-TiC-6Co metal powder was taken as raw material. 60% (mass fraction) palm stearin and 40% low density polyethylene were employed as binders to prepare injection feedstock. Three feedstocks were prepared at different TiC % loadings of 0.5, 0.75, and 1.0 (by weight). A homogeneous metal powders is formed by using ball mill mixer and mixed together with binder system by using Brabender mixer. Based on the result obtained, it was concluded that feedstock with 0.75 wt. % TiC powder show a good pseudo-plastic behavior within acceptable ranges in MIM
