Charm Cross Sections for the Tevatron Run II
We present a calculation of the D^{*+}, D^+ and D^0 meson single inclusive
production cross section for the Tevatron Run II. We use the FONLL approach in
perturbative QCD, which, besides including the known next-to-leading order
corrections, also provides for the resummation at the next-to-leading
logarithmic level of terms enhanced at large p_T by powers of log(p_T/m), where
m is the charm mass and p_T is its transverse momentum. Non-perturbative
effects in charm hadronization are extracted, in moment space, from recent
ALEPH data for D^* fragmentation in e^+e^- collisions.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, LaTe
Production of Triply Charmed Baryons in Annihilation
The total and differential cross sections for the production of triply
charmed baryons in annihilation are calculated at
the -boson pole.Comment: 13 pages, 2 figure
Diffractive charm photoproduction at HERA ep-collider
The cross section of the -meson diffractive photoproduction at the HERA
collider has been calculated in the framework of perturbatively motivated model
for the different kinematic regions. The camparison between the different
Pomeron models has been performed.Comment: 9 pages, 3 figure
The Local Interstellar Ultraviolet Radiation Field
I have used the Hipparcos Input Catalog, together with Kurucz model stellar
atmospheres, and information on the strength of the interstellar extinction, to
create a model of the expected intensity and spectral distribution of the local
interstellar ultraviolet radiation field, under various assumptions concerning
the albedo a of the interstellar grains. (This ultraviolet radiation field is
of particular interest because of the fact that ultraviolet radiation is
capable of profoundly affecting the chemistry of the interstellar medium.) By
comparing my models with the observations, I am able to conclude that the
albedo a of the interstellar grains in the far ultraviolet is very low, perhaps
a = 0.1. I also advance arguments that my present determination of this albedo
is much more reliable than any of the many previous (and conflicting)
ultraviolet interstellar grain albedo determinations. Beyond this, I show that
the ultraviolet background radiation that is observed at high galactic
latitudes must be extragalactic in origin, as it cannot be backscatter of the
interstellar radiation field.Comment: Astrophysical Journal, in press; 9 figures + 16 text page
Photoproduction and electroproduction of charm at high energies
We estimate the differential and total cross sections for both the
photoproduction of vector D*-meson and its yield in deep inelastic scattering
at the HERA collider in the framework of model motivated by perturbative
calculations in QCD. The offered model allows us to take into account higher
twists over the transverse momentum of meson at p_T ~ m_c and to correctly
approach the dominance of -quark fragmentation at p_T >> m_c. We consider a
possibility for the hadronization of color-octet c q-bar state into the meson.
The combined contribution by the singlet and octet-color terms results in a
good agreement with the experimental data for both the photoproduction and the
production in deep inelastic scattering.Comment: 27 pages, ReVTeX, 8 eps-figures, explanations added, results

Constraints on Four Fermion Contact Interactions from Precise Electroweak Measurements
We establish constraints on a general four-fermion contact interaction from
precise measurements of electroweak parameters. We compute the one-loop
contribution for the leptonic width, anomalous magnetic, weak-magnetic,
electric and weak dipole moments of leptons in order to extract bounds on the
energy scale of these effective interactions.Comment: 16 pages, RevTeX, two figure
Heavy Flavour Physics at HERA - a Survey
At the HERA collider at DESY, high energy electron and positron beams
interact with proton beams. A review is presented of the variety of ways in
which these collisions produce final states containing charm and beauty quarks.Comment: 45 pages including 30 figures. Submitted to International Journal of

Event shapes in e+e- annihilation and deep inelastic scattering
This article reviews the status of event-shape studies in e+e- annihilation
and DIS. It includes discussions of perturbative calculations, of various
approaches to modelling hadronisation and of comparisons to data.Comment: Invited topical review for J.Phys.G; 40 pages; revised version

Definition and Calculation of Bottom Quark Cross-Sections in Deep-inelastic Scattering at HERA and Determination of their Uncertainties
The uncertainties involved in the calculation of bottom quark cross-sections
in deep-inelastic scattering at HERA are studied in different phase space
regions. Besides the inclusive bottom quark cross-section, definitions closer
to the detector acceptance requiring at least one high energetic muon from the
semi-leptonic \bquark decay or a jet with high transverse energy are
investigated. For each case the uncertainties due to the choice of the
renormalisation and factorisation scale as well as the \bquark mass are
estimated in the perturbative NLO QCD calculation and furthermore uncertainties
in the fragmenation of the bottom quark to a B-meson and in its semi-leptonic
decay are discussed
