Atmospheric models evaluation for space applications

    Get PDF
This Bachelor's Thesis aims to evaluate how well atmospheric models used for space applications, such as orbit determination, represent the upper atmosphere. For this purpose, atmospheric conditions provided by state-of-the-art models are compared to actual satellite measurements. A detailed description of the atmosphere is given for a better understanding of its dynamic behaviour. Atmospheric modeling complexity is realized, mainly due to the unpredictability of solar activity and the difficulty of its introduction into the models through solar and magnetic indices. Furthermore, insight in the development of semi-empirical and empirical models is given as well as in the inputs they need for their computations. Further work ideas are realized throughout the development of the project, as well as the positive socioeconomic impact accurate atmospheric modeling can have on the aerospace industry.Ingeniería Aeroespacia

The Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua is a region that has historically been subject to colonization through severe environmental degradation, ethnic cleansing, exploitation of work, and an imposing language. Within this oppression, indigenous and afrodescendent communities of the Atlantic Coast, formally known as RAACS (South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region), have lost centuries worth of language, tradition, and homes in just a few decades. My documentary looks at how communities resist an imposing government and globalization through the revitalization of their traditions, specifically traditional medicine. It delves into the issues of modern colonialism in these communities, and how organizations, government programs, and individuals are able to heal their communities by remembering their ancestral curing practices

La cerámica del cementerio de Cápiz Alto (Departamento de San Carlos, Mendoza) : una aproximación a las identidades culturales

    Get PDF
The cemetery of Cápiz Alto have posthispanic origin and their backgrounds reflect the diversity of the population Jaurúa Valley (San Carlos Department, Mendoza, Argentina) in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. This occurred because of the profound political and social transformations that occurred due to the appropriation of land and Indian labor by the Spaniards. In this study we present the technological and typological analysis of pottery placed in the funerary offerings, with the aim of exploring the various identities groups that inhabited the valley in the early centuries of the colony. The approach of this research is financial analysis from the point of view of the supply side. This research investigates the influence of land in the total profit obtained by developers from social housing projects that are subsidized by government. This research is quantitative and exploratory, with case studies (eight projects) about Techo Propio Peruvian social housing program. The context of this thesis is the peripheral area of Lima and the period of time covered in the study is the decade from 2001 to 2010. The research question asks if the profit because of the land strategy (to buy a plot and wait time until the price increase without doing anything else) is greater than the profit because of the project itself (the cash flow obtained for the effort to sell and build dwellings).Países Bajos. Using Multi-Agent Transport Simulations to Assess the Impact of EV Charging Infrastructure Deployment

    Get PDF
Over the last two decades, electrification has gained importance as a means to decarbonise the transport sector. As the number of Electric Vehicles (EVs)increases, it is important to consider broader system aspects as well, especially when deciding the type, coverage, size and location of the charging infrastructure required. In this article, a Multi-Agent model depicting long distance transport in Sweden is proposed, allowing to simulate different scenarios and enabling a more detailed analysis of the interaction between these vehicles and the charging infrastructure
