Femtoscopic study of coupled-channel baryon-baryon interactions with
Particles and Nuclei International Conference - PANIC2021, 5 - 10 September, 2021, OnlineThe correlation functions of pΞ− and ΛΛ pairs from pp and pA collisions are studied in the coupled-channel framework using the NΞ-ΛΛ coupled-channel baryon-baryon potentials obtained in the lattice QCD calculation at almost physical quark masses. The pΞ− correlation function is calculated to be significantly enhanced from the pure Coulomb case, while the ΛΛ correlation function is slightly enhanced from that of the pure fermion quantum statistics. These features reflect the large and small scattering lengths in the pΞ− and ΛΛ channels in magnitude, and agree with the observed data by the ALICE collaboration. The agreement confirms the S = −2 baryon-baryon potentials from lattice QCD

Activation Process of [NiFe] Hydrogenase Elucidated by High-Resolution X-Ray Analyses: Conversion of the Ready to the Unready State
SummaryHydrogenases catalyze oxidoreduction of molecular hydrogen and have potential applications for utilizing dihydrogen as an energy source. [NiFe] hydrogenase has two different oxidized states, Ni-A (unready, exhibits a lag phase in reductive activation) and Ni-B (ready). We have succeeded in converting Ni-B to Ni-A with the use of Na2S and O2 and determining the high-resolution crystal structures of both states. Ni-B possesses a monatomic nonprotein bridging ligand at the Ni-Fe active site, whereas Ni-A has a diatomic species. The terminal atom of the bridging species of Ni-A occupies a similar position as C of the exogenous CO in the CO complex (inhibited state). The common features of the enzyme structures at the unready (Ni-A) and inhibited (CO complex) states are proposed. These findings provide useful information on the design of new systems of biomimetic dihydrogen production and fuel cell devices
Parity Transition of Spin-Singlet Superconductivity Using Sublattice Degrees of Freedom
縺(もつ)れ結晶で現れる多重超伝導状態の性質を解明. 京都大学プレスリリース. 2023-04-20.Recently, a superconducting (SC) transition from low-field (LF) to high-field (HF) SC states was reported in CeRh₂As₂, indicating the existence of multiple SC states. It has been theoretically noted that the existence of two Ce sites in the unit cell, the so-called sublattice degrees of freedom owing to the local inversion symmetry breaking at the Ce sites, can lead to the appearance of multiple SC phases even under an interaction inducing spin-singlet superconductivity. CeRh₂As₂ is considered as the first example of multiple SC phases owing to this sublattice degree of freedom. However, microscopic information about the SC states has not yet been reported. In this study, we measured the SC spin susceptibility at two crystallographically inequivalent As sites using nuclear magnetic resonance for various magnetic fields. Our experimental results strongly indicate a spin-singlet state in both SC phases. In addition, the antiferromagnetic phase, which appears within the SC phase, only coexists with the LF SC phase; there is no sign of magnetic ordering in the HF SC phase. The present Letter reveals unique SC properties originating from the locally noncentrosymmetric characteristics
白内障手術既往のある高齢者は視力と独立して高い認知機能を維持する : 平城京コホート研究横断解析
Cataract surgery improves visual acuity and drastically increases the capacity for light reception to the retina. Although previous studies suggested that both light exposure and visual acuity were associated with cognitive function, the relationships between cataract surgery, visual acuity, and cognitive function have not been evaluated in large populations. In this cross-sectional study, we measured cognitive function using the Mini-Mental State Examination and best-corrected visual acuity in pseudophakic (previous cataract surgery) and phakic (no previous cataract surgery) elderly individuals. Of 945 participants (mean age 71.7 years), 166 (17.6%) had pseudophakia and 317 (33.5%) had impaired cognitive function (score ≤26). The pseudophakic group showed significantly better visual acuity than the phakic group (p = 0.003) and lower age-adjusted odds ratio (ORs) for cognitive impairment (OR 0.66; p = 0.038). Consistently, in multivariate logistic regression models, after adjusting for confounding factors, including visual acuity and socioeconomic status, ORs for cognitive impairment were significantly lower in the pseudophakic group than in the phakic group (OR 0.64; 95% confidence interval 0.43-0.96; p = 0.031). This association remained significant in sensitivity analysis, excluding participants with low cognitive score ≤23 (n = 36). In conclusion, in a general elderly population, prevalence of cognitive impairment was significantly lower in pseudophakic individuals independently of visual acuity. The association was also independent of several major causes of cognitive impairment such as aging, gender, obesity, socioeconomic status, hypertension, diabetes, sleep disturbances, depressive symptoms, and physical inactivity.博士(医学)・甲第666号・平成29年3月15日© Mary Ann Liebert, Inc.This is a non-final version of an article published in final form in "http://dx.doi.org/10.1089/rej.2015.1718
Investigation of the hyperfine coupling constant of locally noncentrosymmetric heavy-fermion superconductor CeRhAs
We performed As-NMR measurements in to investigate the
normal-state magnetic properties of CeRhAs, a recently-discovered
heavy-fermion superconductor. We compared the NMR Knight shift with the
magnetic susceptibility , and estimated the hyperfine coupling
constant from the slope of the plot. We observed
that the magnitude of at the As(1) site changes at around
20 K owing to emerging the heavy-fermion state, which was also observed in
at the As(2) site and in . The sign of
at the As(1) site is negative in low temperature. These
are important for the analysis of the NMR results of CeRhAs in the
superconducting state.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, SCES2023 proceeding

Therapeutic potential of arsenic trioxide with or without interferon-α for relapsed/refractory adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma
Arsenic trioxide (As2O3) with or without interferon-α (IFN) was given to 4 patients with relapsed/refractory adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL). Treatment with As2O3 and IFN showed an encouraging response in two moderately-aggressive ATLL patients, while As2O3 alone was ineffective in two patients with very aggressive and rapidly progressing ATLL. Further studies are needed to clarify the role of As2O3 and its usefulness when combined with IFN for the treatment of ATLL
