    Спеціальна лексика сучасних україномовних ЗМІ : функціональний аспект

    У статті йдеться про засоби збагачення лексичного фонду сучасних україномовних ЗМІ. Детально аналізуємо один із них: переносне вживання слів, що традиційно функціонують у царинах культури, науки, виробництва, техніки тощо. Ана- ліз здійснюємо на лінгвальному матеріалі медичної, побутової, військової, культурної, дорожньо-транспортної галузей. (It is pointed out the ways of enlarging the specific vocabulary of the current Ukrainian mass media. It is given the precise analysis of the figurative meaning of the words that are commonly used in culture, science, production, technology etc. The analysis is based on the lexics from medical, military, household, cultural, traffic-transport spheres of usage.

    Materials to the creation of the Regional Landscape Park ‘Smarahdove Dzherelo’ (Kharkiv Region, Ukraine)

    Intending to create a regional landscape park, we investigated various sites of upland oak forests, pine forests on the above-floodplain terrace of the left bank of the Udy River, adjacent floodplain meadows on both banks, and swampy soil depressions near the village of Ternovaya. In total, we proposed seven segments with a total area of ​​6173.03 hectares to be included in the Smarahdove Dzherelo Regional Landscape Park, a projected conservation area in the south of the Kharkiv District of the Kharkiv Region. The studied oak forests on the right river bank and flat interfluves, pine forests on the above-flooded terrace, and the Udy floodplain are examples of the typical landscape of Slobidska Ukraine. The Udy floodplain hosts meadows of a significant area and alder forests in humid near-terrace depressions; dry meadows are confined to forest edges and fallow lands. In total, ten endangered natural habitats listes in the Berne Convention are presented in the study area. Flora and vegetation are rich and, in general, retain the composition inherent in the biotopes of the southern forest-steppe of Left-Bank Ukraine. One plant association is included in the Green Book of Ukraine; the other three are in the List of Rare Plant Associations of the Kharkiv Region. Five vascular plant species, one fern species, and one fungus species are included in the Red Data Book of Ukraine; 14 plant species are included in the Red List of the Kharkiv Region. We found eight animal species of the European Red List, 65 animal species from Appendices II and III of the Bern Convention, including six species from Appendices I and II of the Bonn Convention; 23 animal species are included in the Red Data Book of Ukraine, while 19 species are in the List of Rare Species and Species in Need of Protection in the Kharkiv Region. New locations of species requiring protection at the regional and all-Ukrainian level have been identified. Species at the boundaries of their ranges make a significant contribution to local biodiversity. Several southern species were found on the dry edges of the Chornyi Lis forest area: for the Mantis Iris polystictica, it is the second record from the Kharkiv Region, for the spiders Marinarozelotes malkini and Ero aphana, it is the first record in the regional list. Two beetle species (Fissocatops westi and Scymniscus horioni) are new to the fauna of Ukraine. We assessed the degree of preservation of natural communities and the possibility of their inclusion in various zones of the projected regional landscape park. Basic biotechnical measures were recommended to maintain the natural properties of the park ecosystems

Когнітивний процес створення досліджуваних одиниць представляє типи метафоричного перенесення. Відзначено, що метафора покликана спростити процес сприйняття складного нового матеріалу. У 2000–2020 рр. новою хвилею метафоричної продуктивності відзначено терміни природничих наук. Досліджено метафори політичного й економічного дискурсів масмедіа із урахуванням семантичного, когнітивно-прагматичного підходів. Виявлено головні тенденції розвитку сучасного мовлення українських масмедіа й визначено інтерпретаційний оцінний потенціал медійної метафори.The article is devoted to the analysis of the interpretation possibilities of the mass media metaphor. The aim of the work is to identify the semantic spheres that beget a metaphor in the modern language of the Ukrainian mass media. This work demonstrates the mechanism of metaphor production: components of a new meaning, components of metaphorical meaning, and the structure of metaphorical transference. The problems associated with the interpretation of metaphors are considered. The cognitive process of creating the investigated units represents the types of metaphorical transference. The metaphor is designed to simplify the process of perceiving complex new material. In 2000-2020 a new wave of metaphorical productivity was marked by the terms of the natural sciences during the timeframe of the research. As a result of the analysis, the metaphors of the political and economic discourses of the mass media were investigated, taking into account the semantic, cognitive-pragmatic approaches. On the basis of this material, the main trends in the development of the modern language of the Ukrainian mass media are revealed and the interpretative and evaluative potential of the media metaphor is determined.Проанализированы интерпретационные возможности метафоры массмедиа. Определены семантические сферы, порождающие метафору в современной речи украинских массмедиа. Продемонстрирован механизм создания метафоры: компоненты нового содержания, компоненты метафорического значения, структура метафорического переноса. Рассмотрены проблемы, связанные с трактовкой метафор. Когнитивный процесс создания изучаемых единиц представляет типы метафорического переноса. Отмечено, что метафора призвана упростить процесс восприятия нового сложного материала. В 2000-2020 гг. новой волной метафорической производительности отмечены термины естественных наук. Исследованы метафоры политического и экономического дискурсов массмедиа с учетом семантического, когнитивно-прагматичного подходов. Выявлены главные тенденции развития современной речи украинских массмедиа и определен интерпретационный оценочный потенциал медийной метафоры

    Galectin-3 and HBME-1 Expression on agarose cell blocks from fine-needle aspirates of follicular cell-derived thyroid tumors

    Aim: To test the expression of galectin-3 (gal-3) and Hector Battifora mesothelial antigen-1 (HBME-1) on agarose cell blocks (CBs) of fine-needle aspirates aiming to determine their diagnostic value in thyroid follicle cell-derived tumors. Materials and Methods: Forty patients with thyroid nodule were enrolled. Fine-needle aspiration biopsy was done and processed to produce smears and CBs. Immune staining was done on CBs using antibodies to gal-3 and HBME-1. Diagnostic value of tests was determined in comparison to pathology. Results: Current study included 17 papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), 15 follicular adenoma, and 8 follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC). In PTC diagnosis, co-expression of gal-3/HBME-1 had a sensitivity of 94.1%, specificity of 73.3%, positive predictive value (PPV) of 80%, negative predictive value (NPV) 91.7%, and accuracy of 84.4%. In FTC diagnosis, combined gal-3/HBME-1 expression had a sensitivity of 75%, specificity of 78.6%, PPV of 50%, NPV of 91.7%, and accuracy of 77.8%. Co-expression of gal-3/HBME-1 raised the sensitivity of detection of differentiated thyroid carcinomas from 40% with cytomorphology to 92% and accuracy from 62.5% to 85%. Conclusion: The combined immunocytochemical expression of gal-3 and HBME-1 utilizing fine-needle aspirates can improve the sensitivity of detection and diagnostic accuracy of differentiated follicular cell-derived thyroid carcinomas
