    The effect of postpartum home visit on breast-feeding during and weight gain of infant

    Introduction: children are the part of greatest human community that they are in front of threat health factors. Also healthy and promotion health of children are very important. Breast feeding is the important source for growth of child at the first year and the weight of child is the good indicator for situation of growth and nutrition, at the hospital, it is the decreasing opportunity times for midwifery's for knowledge necessary transmutation related to midwifery and self care and newborn care to mothers Purpose: Method: In this research 100 prim Para women who delivered normally were selected randomly and were divided in two groups of fifty as the study and control group. The study group perceived postpartum home visit and the control group didn't receive this particular instruction. Tools were scale and two form questioners. Result: The result showed that At all 66 of study group and 92 of control group had exclusive breastfeeding less than 4 month. Also 48 of infants of study group from birth beginning until end of four month control of postpartum home visit were 3000 -3499 gram had weight difference but at the control group this difference were between 2500-2999 gram. Conclusion: The result showed that postpartum home visit was more effective on breastfeeding during (p<0.01, Z=3.19) and weight gain of infant (p<0.01, Z=5097). Thus the hypothesizes were accepted.     Assessment of the work experiences of nurses of man power design program in University Hospitals of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education

    Background: Nurse's experiences in their first position can influence their Decision to stay in, or quit a position or the profession. Objective: Assessment of the work experiences of nurses of man power Program in tasks such as duties, interactions with the Physicians, coworker's and also the real situation of work. Design: This was a descriptive study in which self report Questionnaires were used As a data gathering tool. Sample: 166 nurses with 2₆ month's experiences of work contributed in this study Results: Findings showed that 74.1 of sample group had positive experiences in increased Knowledge and 72.5 of them said that their technical skills had improved; also 68.0 of the sample group was happy from learning through being with coworkers. On the other hand many of them (n=161) reported positive experience in interacting with Physicians and other nurses, while some (n=147) said That they had negative feedbacks. According to their experiences in a real situation 45.2 of the nurses said that they regret to choose nursing as a job, while 43.2 felt loss of motivation to work in hospital and 72 reckoned that educational program prepared them in a low to moderate degree for working in hospital. Conclusion: According to the results it the coworkers whom can have positive effects on new nurses; they should advise, lead and support new coworkers, and not to increase their stress by giving them so many responsibilities. Besides, complete orientation time and providing of a support system is highly recommended. © EuroJournals Publishing, Inc. 2007

    Relationship between hypertension and body mass index (BMI) in the workers of vitana factory

    Objective: This research was performed to determine the relation between hypertension and body mass index (BMI) in the workers of vitana factory that is under consideration of the University of Iran. Methods: This research is a cross sectional study. The data collection tool was questionnaire that had 2 parts. The first part complained individual information an dietary habits and the second part complained BMI measures, systolic and diastolic blood pressure and the amounts of cholesterol, triglyceride and fasting blood sugar. The samples were 175 number of the workers of vitana factory who had been selected by the manner of census. Results: The results were as follows: The average and standard deviation of weight, height, systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure of workers were respectively 76.9 ± 11.27 kg, 170.81 ± 7.3 cm, 130 ± 17.66 mmHg and 82.390 ± 12.22 mmHg. The average and standard deviation of blood cholesterol was 17.5 ± 68. In 17.2 of samples fasting blood sugar was > 120 mg/dl. BMI in 46.3 of workers was between 25 and 29.9 and in 21.7 was between 30 and 39.91. Conclusion: The results of the research showed that 15 of samples in the research society were affected by medium and severe degree of hypertension and two third (68) were obese in the grade of 1 and 2, also a statistical meaningful relation between BMI and systolic blood pressure (P<0.002) and between BMI and diastolic blood pressure (P< 0.01) were founded. On the basis of this research it is necessary that periodical examination be done about workers of this factory for health planning in 3 fields: Screening, education and prevention. © EuroJournals Publishing, Inc. 2006

    Women's sexuality after childbirth: A cross sectional study

    Background: Short-term postpartum sexual problem are highly prevalent ranging from 22 to 86: however, there are few studies that address how mode of delivery affects sexual functioning after childbirth. Objective: To investigate the impact of childbirth on the sexual health of primiparous women and identify factors associated with sexual problems. Methods: A cross sectional study was carried out investigating women's sexual problems and postal survey up to six months after delivery. All women had resumed sexual intercourse and were asked a detailed set of questionnaire about problems experienced. Sample: A cohort of 160 consecutive primiparous women delivering a live birth was identified. To investigate women's postnatal sexual problems. Women were classified as experiencing sexual problems before pregnancy and after delivery. Differences between proportions were tested using chi-square tests or fisher exact test and independent samples TTest, as appropriate. For paired proportions, the McNemar test was used. The analysis was carried out using SSPS for windows. Result: Of the 160 respondents all of them had resumed sexual activity within six months of the birth. Sexual problems such as painful penetration (P<0.05), pain during sexual intercourse (P<0.001), lack of vaginal lubrication (P<0.001), difficulty reaching orgasm(P<0.001), pain on orgasm(P<0.02), anal sexual relation after delivery(P<0.05). Six months after delivery the association between difficulty reaching orgasm with marriage duration (P=0.04), pain during sexual intercourse with number of intercourse per week (P=0.03), pain during sexual intercourse with time of first intercourse (P=0.03), Conclusion: sexual health problem were very common after childbirth, suggesting potentially high levels of unmet need. © EuroJournals Publishing, Inc. 2006
