The Effect of Deformation on the Twist Mode

Using $^{12}$C as an example of a strongly deformed nucleus we calculate the strengths and energies in the asymptotic (oblate) deformed limit for the isovector twist mode operator $[rY^{1}\vec{l}]^{\lambda=2}t_{+}$ where l is the orbital angular momentum. We also consider the $\lambda =1$ case. For $\lambda=0$, the operator vanishes. Whereas in a $\Delta N=0$ Nilsson model the summed strength is independent of the relative P$_{3/2}$ and P$_{1/2}$ occupancy when we allow for different frequencies $\omega_{i}$ in the x, y, and z directions there is a weak dependency on deformation.Comment: 9 page

Performing Nordic White Femininity: Two Swedish Divas in the U.S. in the Nineteenth Century

This study is an intersectional investigation of how the first two international Swedish superstars, Jenny Lind (1820–1887) and Christina Nilsson (1843–1921), performed gender, race, nationalism, and class during their respective tours of the United States of America in 1850–1852 and 1870–1872. The purpose is to chart early transatlantic performances of Nordic white femininity and Swedishness as well as to discuss the symbolical values and associations that it signaled. I will argue that Lind and Nilsson set out a template of idealized Nordic white femininity in the U.S. and that they contributed to the growing identity and self-awareness of Swedish-Americans

N=4 Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Multiplet in Non-Adjoint Representations

We formulate a theory for N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills multiplet in a non-adjoint representation R of SO(N) as an important application of our recently-proposed model for N=1 supersymmetry. This system is obtained by dimensional reduction from an N=1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills multiplet in non-adjoint representation in ten dimensions. The consistency with supersymmetry requires that the non-adjoint representation R with the indices i, j, ... satisfy the three conditions \eta^{i j} = \delta^{i j}, (T^I)^{i j} = - (T^I)^{j i} and (T^I)^{[ i j |} (T^I)^{| k ] l} = 0 for the metric \eta^{i j} and the generators T^I, which are the same as the N=1 case.Comment: 6 pages, no figures, accepted for publication in Phys.
