On Introducing Built-In Test for Software Components in AADL Models

    No full text
International audienceThis paper presents preliminary ideas to include a kind of built-in self-test for systems embedded software components. The study promotes contract-based testing applied to AADL modeling of hardware/software systems. The aim is first to help evaluating the testability of software components embedded in such systems, and next to improve the integration step, especially in the context of COTS design and development. We introduce an architecture to include a generic test system inside an AADL model, and then test specifications to handle the testing process. The paper exposes the main ideas of the proposed approach and its modeling but no implementation work. Next stage is an implementation work to assess the feasibility and the benefits of the proposed approach

188Re-SSS/Lipiodol: Development of a Potential Treatment for HCC from Bench to Bedside

    Get PDF
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the 5th most common tumour worldwide and has a dark prognosis. For nonoperable cases, metabolic radiotherapy with Lipiodol labelled with ÎČ-emitters is a promising therapeutic option. The Comprehensive Cancer Centre EugĂšne Marquis and the National Graduate School of Chemistry of Rennes (ENSCR) have jointly developed a stable and efficient labelling of Lipiodol with rhenium-188 (EÎČmax = 2.1 MeV) for the treatment of HCC. The major “milestones” of this development, from the first syntheses to the recent first injection in man, are described

How to make a deal:The role of rankings and personal ties in creating trust in the mergers and acquisitions market

On the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market, buyers and sellers resort to experts in order to secure deals. But as these experts might be prone to opportunism, firms need to find a way to build trust. We identify two trust devices: social ties and public rankings. We explore whether these personal and impersonal devices are substitutes, independent or complementary. We study the French M&A market through a mixed-method approach. We show that both previous contacts and league table rankings of firms contribute to trust and to making deals. These trust devices are all the more likely to be used if the deal is risky, especially within the sell side (more at risk). We also find that firms tend to make deals only with other firms at the same level in the rankings. Finally, we find some evidence of substitution between rankings and personal ties, especially for low-value deals

Wavefront Aberrations in Subjects Wearing Soft Aspheric Contact Lenses and Those Wearing Spherical Ones

Purpose: To measure the level of higher order aberrations (HOA) when wearing a soft aspheric contact lens (CL), compared to a spherical CL, in myopic subjects. Method: Fifteen myopic subjects aged 20-30 years were tested for the presence of dry eye. Aberrometry measurements were done without a contact lens as well as with a spherical CL and an aspheric CL. Root mean square error (RMS) of HOA, spherical aberration (SA) and coma were measured five times in an interval of 15 seconds without blinking for each of the 3 conditions. Results: Wearing a spherical CL produced a significant increase of SA and horizontal coma compared to an eye without a contact lens. When wearing an aspheric CL, there was a trend towards a smaller increase of these aberrations. However, the difference between both types of lens was not statistically significant. In terms of total HOA, these were higher when wearing the spherical CL, while they tended to be less with the aspheric CL. As for the variations between blinks, there was a similar increase in total HOA and individual modes with time for the three conditions. Conclusion : Wearers of aspheric CL seem to show a tendency towards smaller amounts of SA, horizontal coma and HOA in general in comparison with wearers of SCL. However, total HOA increases during a long interval between blinks, no matter the condition

Genetic parameters of stearoyl coenzyme-A desaturase 9 activity estimated by test-day model

peer reviewedDairy and beef products account for a large part of fat intake in human nutrition and therefore can be linked to dietary diseases. The stearoyl Coenzyme-A desaturase 9 (delta-9) gene was identified as a potential functional candidate gene affecting milk fat composition in dairy cattle. The objective of this research was to estimate the genetic parameters of delta-9 activity indicator traits and to study the relationship between delta-9 activity as described by these indicator traits and common milk production traits. A total of 126,331 test-day records were obtained from 14,259 Holstein (> 84% Holstein gene) heifers belonging to 105 herds. The studied traits were milk yield, percentages of fat and protein, content of monounsaturated fatty acids, and 3 ratios reflecting the delta-9 activity (C14:1/ C14:0; C16:1/C16:0 and C18:1/C18). The used model was a multiple-trait random regressions test-day model and included as fixed effects: herd x date of test, class of age, and month x year. Random effects were herd x year of calving, permanent environmental, additive genetic, and residual effects. The fatty acid contents were estimated by mid-infrared spectrometry. Delta-9 activity varied within year and lactation. The obtained heritability estimates of delta-9 as well as the genetic and phenotypic correlation varied also through lactation. This study suggests potential improvements of delta-9 activity and subsequently milk fat composition can be achieved by animal management but also by breeding and animal selection

Timed Functional Modeling for Mixed-Signal Boards in Maintenance Testing

    No full text
International audienceIn the context of maintenance testing and diagnosis of faulty boards, a functional FSM (Finite State Machine)- based model for mixed-signal boards has been introduced in a precedent paper. It has been extended for dealing with time sequences aspects. In this paper, the new modeling technique is presented

    No full text
International audienceThis paper presents the validation protocol of a mixed-signal board ATPG method. First results confirm the method fitting well with maintenance test, board modeling stage adequacy and test data generation reliability. The essential need for user-defined dedicated test strategies is highlighted in order to ensure meaningful test process and full blackbox test
