    LANGUAGE FORM USED IN EFL COURSEBOOK “PASSPORT TO THE WORLD”

    Published EFL coursebooks are normally written by experienced and well- qualified peopleand the material contained in them is usually carrefully tested in pillot studies in actualteaching situations before publication. Todays, many EFL coursebooks in the market are written by novice Authors and unreputable publishers. If the coursebooks are not carefullyselected by EFL teachers, they will become good servants but poor masters in EFLclassroom. This study aimes at describing language form and language use used in an EFL textbook” Entittled” When English Rings the Bell” based on based on Cunningsworth (1984) clasification. This Study is a descriptive study. The source of data were two intialcahpters taken from the EFL textbook entitled: When English Rings the Bell” published in 2015. The result of the study shows that there 4 kinds of the language forms presented inthe book. They are: 1). Phonology: the producton of individual sounds, stress, rhytm andintonation. 2) Grammar: Morphology and Syntax; 3) Vocabulary (Lexis); and 4)Discourse: sequence of sentences. It is concluded that the Outhor of the EFL text bookpresented language form of Englis as suggested by Cuningsworth. Therofore, it could be said that, the book could be used as a source of study

    The Effect Of Autonomous Learning Strategy On Students' Identity Status

    Status identitas mahasiswa menggaris bawahi pada upaya mahasiswa berkomitmen dan berkesplorasi dalam menyelesaikan berbagai tugas dan tanggung jawab belajarnya sehingga dirasa perlu mempertimbangkan strategi belajar yang mendorong mahasiswa untuk bereksplorasi dan berkomitmen. Karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji pengaruh strategi belajar otonomi terhadap status identitas mahasiswa dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain pre-test-post-test yang melibatkan sampel berjumlah 23 orang (M = 19.39; SD = 1.52). Pengumpulan data status identitas menggunakan kuisioner status identitas yang dikembangkan oleh Marcia terdiri dari 40 pernyataan, masing-masing status identitas terdiri dari 10 pernyataan. Analisis data menggunakan t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik tidak ada pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap status identitas mahasiswa sebelum dan setelah diberikan perlakuan strategi belajar otonomi. Data statistik menunjukkan bahwa nilai sig. lebih besar dari 0,05 (˃ 0.715). Dengan demikian, strategi belajar otonomi perlu dipertimbangkan untuk diujicobakan kepada siswa pada satuan pendidikan yang lebih rendah atau jika dilakukan pada tingkat universitas maka pengajar perlu menciptakan crisis dalam pembelajaran.     Study of Church Name in Kupang City: Linguistic Landscape Approach

    This article is an ecclesionomatic study in the framework of linguistics landscape discussing the categories and language of church names in Kupang city, Indonesia. Data were obtained from signboards in Kupang City through photographic techniques in September 2021. The results showed that the names of churches in the city of Kupang were divided into 7 categories, namely biblical terms, names of people, names of places, churches as residences, topographic, names of plants and animals. From the language used, there are 7 languages ​​in the church name, namely Indonesian, Hebrew, Greek, Latin, English, Aramaic, and Dawan languages. The use of a foreign language other than English in church names is not related to literacy or congregational culture but has a symbolic function that contains values ​​and ideology because these names are taken from the Bible and have meaning. Meanwhile, English follows developments and shows the internationality of the church. In addition, the Dawan language is the only language used in the name of the church to show the locality of culture and as a marker of identity in the area

    Implementasi Kurikulum 2013 di SMP Negeri 1 Kupang Tengah Kabupaten Kupang Tahun Ajaran 2013/2014

    This study is a qualitative descriptive study aims at describing the implementation of 2013 Curriculum in SMP Negeri 1 Kupang Tengah Kupang Regency. The samples of this study were seven teachers and principals in SMP Negeri 1 Kupang Tengah. The data collection was done by conducting observation and interviews. The obtained data from observations and interviews were analyzed descriptively. The research results showed that the readiness of school and teachers in implementing the 2013 Curriculum remains downplayed. The willingness of the aspects of infrastructure is available, however, the teachers are still experiencing difficulties in making the learning and classroom management is managed using a scientific approach.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi kurikulum 2013 di SMP Negeri 1 Kupang Tengah Kabupaten Kupang. Sampel yang digunakan adalah 7 orang guru dan Kepala Sekolah di SMP Negeri 1 Kupang Tengah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi dan wawancara. Data hasil observasi dan wawancara dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kesiapan guru-guru dan sekolah dalam mengimplementasi kurikulum 2013 belum maksimal, kesedian dari aspek sarana prasarana cukup tersedia, tetapi guru-guru masih mengalami kesulitan dalam membuat perangkat pembelajaran dan pengelolaan pembelajaran di kelas dikelola dengan menggunakan pendekatan saintifik
