Deskripsi Hasil Uji Angka Lempeng Total (ALT) Pada Beberapa Susu Formula Bayi

Infant formula is the nutrient source for some babies who were not breastfed. Risk factors for infection in infants less than 6 months old who consume formula are greater than those who were breastfed. This is due to the baby's immune system is not well formed. Therefore, it is important to supervise formula safety more strict than adult's food. Total plate count (TPC) is one of the factors considered in the infant formula. The aim of this study is to define safety of infant formula based on total plate count within infant formula distributed in Indonesia in 2011. The study was a cross sectional study. The samples were representative of infant formula distributed in 23 province. Total plate count method and interpretation were conducted based on ISO/TS 22964. The TPC of each samples were examined three times. The TPC of all infant formulas were below of SNI breakpoint, which is less than 104cfu/gram. TPC ranged from <10 – 1,2 × 102cfu/gram. It meant that infant formulas distributed in Indonesia were safe if considered of TPC

Ulcer is a complication of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) that begins with a superficial infection of the patient\u27s skin. High blood glucose levels become a strategic development of bacteria. The study aimed to get a description of diabetic ulcer bacteria among diabetic patients at RSUD Zainal Abidin and Meuraxa in 2015. This study was a descriptive study with cross-sectional design. Subjects were DM patients with ulcers of 57 patients at the two hospitals in the period November to December 2015. Most respondents were females (31), elderly (53), suffering from diabetes more than one year (52), blood sugar levels were not controlled (35) and accompanied comorbidities (33). Consecutively, most of bacteria found were Staphylococcus sp. (92.9%), Klebsiella sp. (75.4%), Proteus sp. (73.7%), Shigella sp. (68.4%), E. coli sp. (42.1%), and Pseudomonas sp. (10.5%). Amoxicillin had the highest level of resistance to bacterial (32), except for Staphylococcus sp. The majority of respondents (42%) which resistant to amoxicillin were females, adult ages, patients suffering from diabetes for over a year with poorly controlled blood sugar levels without complication illness. Amoxicillin antibiotic used for the treatment of ulcers should be reviewed because there were some bacteria that were resistant to these antibiotics

A novel cassette method for probe evaluation in the designed biochips

    Get PDF
A critical step in biochip design is the selection of probes with identical hybridisation characteristics. In this article we describe a novel method for evaluating DNA hybridisation probes, allowing the fine-tuning of biochips, that uses cassettes with multiple probes. Each cassette contains probes in equimolar proportions so that their hybridisation performance can be assessed in a single reaction. The model used to demonstrate this method was a series of probes developed to detect TORCH pathogens. DNA probes were designed for Toxoplasma gondii, Chlamidia trachomatis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, and Herpes virus and these were used to construct the DNA cassettes. Five cassettes were constructed to detect TORCH pathogens using a variety of genes coding for membrane proteins, viral matrix protein, an early expressed viral protein, viral DNA polymerase and the repetitive gene B1 of Toxoplasma gondii. All of these probes, except that for the B1 gene, exhibited similar profiles under the same hybridisation conditions. The failure of the B1 gene probe to hybridise was not due to a position effect, and this indicated that the probe was unsuitable for inclusion in the biochip. The redesigned probe for the B1 gene exhibited identical hybridisation properties to the other probes, suitable for inclusion in a biochip
