Assessment is an important activity in any educational process to evaluate the learner’s knowledge about the concepts learnt.. Evaluation through objective testing is common in all evaluation system, where Multiple Choice Questions, Fill in the Blanks, Matching etc. are used for evaluation. The method of objective testing is not sufficient to completely verify all the concepts learnt by the learner. Thus computer assisted assessment of short text answers is developed. Here we present a technique which also considers grammatical errors during automated evaluation of oneline sentence. In this paper we have define a set of evaluation criteria that covers all the relevant aspects of an essay assessment system and discussion on how this technique find syntactical errors during evaluation of student response

ABSTRACT Versatility of chalcone derivative of 3-substituted-1-{(2E)-1-phenyl-3-(3,4,5)trimethoxyphenyl)}but-2-en-1-one)indole (10-13) and (2Z)-2-(1H-indol-1-yl)-3-(4-substituted phenyl)-1-phenylprop-2-en-1-one (15-18) was explored to provide an easy one pot access to its 1-(1,5-benzodiazepino) substituted analogues (19-22) and (23-26) respectively

The Role of MgO Modifier on Physical, Structural, Optical andThermoluminescence Properties of Lithium Borate Glass System

Synthesis of lithium borate glass system was carried using the melt quenching technique with varying concentrations ofmagnesium followed by analysing the different characteristics such as physical, structural, optical and thermoluminesceneusing various techniques eg. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), UV-Visspectroscopy, and Thermoluminescence (TL). The obtained XRD pattern confirmed the amorphous nature of the preparedsamples. Relevant physical parameters have been evaluated to study the response of these properties with respect tomagnesium content. The density and molar volume values showed that the network structure changed with increasingmagnesium content. It is evident from the FTIR spectra that the network of the prepared samples predominantly containsBO3 and BO4 units. The UV-vis spectra confirmed a decrease in the direct and indirect band gap values with increase inMgO content. Optical parameters namely refractive index, electronic polarizability, reflection loss and dielectric constantwere also calculated and found to be in good correlation with other studies. Following gamma rays irradiation with differentdoses, TL glow curves of prepared glasses were analysed. Deconvolution of TL glow curves was done using glow curveconvolution deconvolution (GCCD) function and trapping parameters of isolated peaks viz. activation energy and frequencyfactor have been determined

SOLID-PHASE SYNTHETIC APPROACH TO THE SYNTHESIS OF AZEPINE HETEROCYCLES OF MEDICINAL INTEREST

Solidphase organic synthesis is a rapidly expanding area of synthetic chemistry which is being widely exploited in the search for new medicinally important compounds by combinatorial techniques. In recent decades, a large number of reports related to solidphase synthesis of heterocycles have appeared owing to a wide variety of their biological activity. In this review, we report the important role of solid-phase synthesis in the synthesis of azepine ring containing heterocycles

INTRODUCTION: Cancer is an uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. About 53% of patients suffer pain in various stages of their illness. There are different nonpharmacological measures that are used widely for reducing pain. Music is believed to reduce pain and also the intake of analgesic. AIM: This study aims to find the effect of music therapy in reducing pain among cancer patients. SETTINGS AND DESIGN: A nonrandomized control group design study was conducted in Regional Cancer Hospital Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 50 individuals were selected based on inclusion criteria through nonprobability purposive sampling technique. They were divided into experimental and control groups nonrandomly. Background information was collected using structured interview schedule. The pain level was assessed by using a numerical pain rating scale. Indian classical instrumental music was administered for 20 min in the morning and evening for 3 consecutive days. RESULTS: Majority of the individuals (52%) were in the age group of 41–50 years, and higher proportions (84%) of individuals were females out of which 64% had cancer of cervix in experimental as well as control group. In the experimental group during the posttest, pain level was less than the pretest pain level which was statistically significant (F = 47.21, P < 0.001). However, in the control group, there was no change in pre- and post-test pain level (P = 0.177). CONCLUSIONS: The findings of the study showed that the pain level in the experimental group during the posttest was less than that in the pretest as compared to the control group which showed that music therapy was effective in reducing the pain level among cancer patients
