Should I use metaverse or not? An investigation of university students behavioral intention to use MetaEducation technology

Metaverse, a burgeoning technological trend that combines virtual and augmented reality, provides users with a fully digital environment where they can assume a virtual identity through a digital avatar and interact with others as they were in the real world. Its applications span diverse domains such as economy (with its entry into the cryptocurrency field), finance, social life, working environment, healthcare, real estate, and education. During the COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 era, universities have rapidly adopted e-learning technologies to provide students with online access to learning content and platforms, rendering previous considerations on integrating such technologies or preparing institutional infrastructures virtually obsolete. In light of this context, the present study proposes a framework for analyzing university students' acceptance and intention to use metaverse technologies in education, drawing upon the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The study aims to investigate the relationship between students' intention to use metaverse technologies in education, hereafter referred to as MetaEducation, and selected TAM constructs, including Attitude, Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Self-efficacy of metaverse technologies in education, and Subjective Norm. Notably, Self-efficacy and Subjective Norm have a positive influence on Attitude and Perceived Usefulness, whereas Perceived Ease of Use does not exhibit a strong correlation with Attitude or Perceived Usefulness. The authors postulate that the weak associations between the study's constructs may be attributed to limited knowledge regarding MetaEducation and its potential benefits. Η Χριστιανική Δεξιά και το Ρεπουμπλικανικό Κόμμα

Η διατριβή αναφέρεται στη δράση της Χριστιανικής Δεξιάς στις ΗΠΑ και ιδιαίτερα την επιρροή της στο Ρεπουμπλικανικό Κόμμα, του οποίου αποτελεί βασική συνιστώσα και πηγή ψηφοφόρων. Μελετά το φαινόμενο αυτό ιδιαιτέρως σε αντιδιαστολή με την φιλελεύθερη πολιτική παράδοση των ΗΠΑ και τις αρχές του Διαφωτισμού από τις οποίες εμπνεύστηκαν οι ιδρυτές πατέρες των ΗΠΑ, ενώ εξετάζει τις συνέπειες που έχει η επιρροή αυτή στο πολιτικό σύστημα των ΗΠΑ εν γένει.Η κύρια προβληματική της διατριβής αναφέρεται στη σχέση μεταξύ πολιτικού φιλελευθερισμού και ριζοσπαστικού προτεσταντισμού, η οποία έχει διαμορφώσει τη φυσιογνωμία των σύγχρονων ΗΠΑ και τις συνέπειες που έχει για την εξέλιξη της σχέσης αυτής η επιρροή της Χριστιανικής Δεξιάς στο Ρεπουμπλικανικό Κόμμα.Στο πλαίσιο αυτό προκύπτει ένα δευτερεύον ζήτημα, που είναι κατά πόσον η Χριστιανική Δεξιά έχει κυριαρχήσει στο Ρεπουμπλικανικό κόμμα σε τέτοιο βαθμό ώστε να υπάρχει κίνδυνος να υπονομευτούν τα θεμέλια του πολιτικού φιλελευθερισμού.Το συμπέρασμα που προκύπτει είναι ότι η δράση της Χριστιανικής Δεξιάς στο πλαίσιο του Ρεπουμπλικανικού Κόμματος έχει φέρει στην επιφάνεια με έντονο τρόπο κάποιες εγγενείς αντιφάσεις ανάμεσα στην κοσμοθεωρία του πολιτικού φιλελευθερισμού και αυτήν του ριζοσπαστικού προτεσταντισμού. Η σημαντικότερη πηγή έντασης ανάμεσα τους, προκύπτει από ριζικά διαφορετικές προσεγγίσεις απέναντι στην Αρχή της Ανεκτικότητας.Το γεγονός αυτό δημιουργεί μία πρωτοφανή πόλωση στο πολιτικό σκηνικό των ΗΠΑ, η οποία δυσχεραίνει την ομαλή λειτουργία του και φαίνεται να θέτει σε κίνδυνο ακόμα και αυτή τη σταθερότητα του. Ταυτόχρονα ωστόσο, η δομή και η φυσιογνωμία του πολιτικού συστήματος των ΗΠΑ είναι τέτοια ώστε, σε βάθος χρόνου, είναι αρκετά πιθανό να μπορέσει αυτό να διαχειριστεί τις εντάσεις και δυσλειτουργίες που προκύπτουν και να επανέλθει σε μία ισορροπίαThe thesis examines the activities of the Christian Right in the United States of America and particularly its influence on the Republican Party, of which it constitutes an integral part as well as its electoral base. This phenomenon is examined in contrast to the liberal political tradition of the US and the principles of the Enlightenment, which inspired the Founding Fathers of the US. The thesis also assesses the consequences of this on the US political system in general.The thesis refers to the relationship between political Liberalism and radical Protestantism, which are the two main driving forces which have shaped the modern US and assesses how the influence of the Christian Right on the Republican Party affects the evolution of this relationship.In this context, another question arises, which relates to the degree and scope of that influence and whether it has reached such an extent as to undermine the foundations of political liberalism. The main conclusion is that the activity of the Christian Right and its influence on the Republican Party have brought into light and rendered evident the conflicting worldviews of political liberalism and radical Protestantism. The main source of this conflict rests upon their different approaches regarding the principle of Toleration. This has contributed to the increased polarization in contemporary US politics and, ultimately, has affected the normal and effective operation of the US political system, to the extent of raising questions about its stability and its future. However, at the same time, one should not underestimate the ways in which the structure and nature of the US political system could cope with the heightened tensions and problems it currently faces and find a point of balance again
