Aphid complex associated with potato in agro-climatic conditions of Kosovo

    Get PDF
Field surveys for aphids infesting potato crops in three most important localities for potato production in Kosovo (Podujevë, Prishtinë and Vushtrri) were conducted in vegetation seasons of 2018–2019. With the purpose to monitor and confirm the aphid composition in potatoes, aphid leaf count was used as a method which is applied worldwide. Sampling for aphids from the leaves of potato plants was undertaken during cropping season, every 10 days, where 100 leaves were taken at random and checked in triplicates, from each field. During of this experimental work, the following aphid species were registered Myzus persicae, Macrosiphum euphorbiae, Aphis nasturtii and Aulacorthum solani. From the total number of aphids recorded (4,210 individuals), the following percentage belongs to the different aphids: M. persicae (57.24%), A. nasturtii (25.72%), A. solani (7.77%), M. euphorbiae (5.68%), and other none identified aphids (3.59%). Relying on the results of this research we have confirmed to exist statistical significant differences with regard to the number of aphid’s species according to the localities and aphids that infests the potatoes. With the goal to manage and control aphids spread infields with potatoes, it is extremely useful to evaluate and to see the possibility for an Integrated Management against these pests at farmer level

The case for validating ADDIE model as a digital forensic model for peer to peer network investigation

    Get PDF
Rapid technological advancement can substantially impact the processes of digital forensic investigation and present a myriad of challenges to the investigator. With these challenges, it is necessary to have a standard digital forensic framework as the foundation of any digital investigation. State-of-the-art digital forensic models assume that it is safe to move from one investigation stage to the next. It guides the investigators with the required steps and procedures. This brings a great stride to validate a non-specific framework to be used in most digital investigation procedures. This paper considers a new technique for detecting active peers that participate in a peer-to-peer (P2P) network. As part of our study, we crawled the μTorrent P2P client over ten days in different instances while logging all participating peers. We then employed digital forensic techniques to analyse the popular users and generate evidence within them with high accuracy. We evaluated our approach against the standard Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model for the digital investigation to achieve the credible digital evidence presented in this paper. Finally, we presented a validation case for the ADDIE model using the United States Daubert Test and the United Kingdom’s Forensic Science Regulator Guidance – 218 (FSR-G-218) and Forensic Science Regulator Guidance – 201 (FSR-G-201) to formulate it as a standard digital forensic model

Extending the ICT Technological Culturation Model: The Role of Accessibility and Perceived Socio-Economic Prospects on ICT Diffusion

    Get PDF
This study extends the Technological culturation (TC) model proposed by Straub et al. by examining the influences of two additional constructs - accessibility of technology (AT) and perceived socio-economic prospects (PSEP) - on the usage (U) of information and communications technologies (ICTs). Research question was: In addition to technological culturation, do “accessibility of ICTs” and “individuals’ perceptions of the socio-economic prospects” influence the usage of ICTs? The instrument measured the extent to which respondents are influenced by advanced technology cultures, accessibility to ICTs, and their perceptions of the long-term socio-economic outlook of their country. It also allowed them to rank their usage of ICTs. Using partial least squares (PLS), the research model tested the impacts of AT on TC and, and TC, AT, PSEP on ICT usage. Findings show strong supports for all tested links. Inferences from these findings and their implications on research and practice are also provided

An Analytical Approach for Mobility Load Balancing in Wireless Networks

    Get PDF
Management of mobility especially balancing the load of handoff for wireless networks is an essential parameter for wireless network design and traffic study. In this paper, we present analytical mobility management in high speed wireless mobile networks focusing on factors such as the number of channel slots and offered load. We demonstrate the performance of handoffs with mobility consideration using several metrics including the alteration of states prior to reaching a cell boundary, the speed of mobile terminal, and the distance between a mobile terminal and a cell boundary. We mainly focus on the performance evaluation for the factor of mobility with taking into account the high speed status of a user

Courts of Limited Jurisdiction in a Post-Transition Cuba

    Get PDF
Cuba\u27s eventual transition to a free-market society will likely be accompanied by a flood of litigation in areas such as property rights, privatization of state-owned enterprises, and human rights violation claims. Courts of limited jurisdiction should be established to hear these specialized matters and alleviate the burden on regular courts. As the transition unfolds, there will also be a need to create specialized tribunals to handle disputes in areas such as taxation, bankrtupcy, and intellectual property. The creation of the various courts of limited jurisdiction will have to be supported by creative strategies for retraining existing judges, training new ones, and supplementing the bench through the appropriate use of non-judicial personnel

In search of Insights from Community of Practice and Use of Telemedicine in Low income Countries: The case of Ethiopia

    Get PDF
The use of ICT for exchange of medical records in provision of health care services appears to be a viable option for enhancing the capacity of low income developing countries struggling with shortage of qualified medical personnel. This study seeks to gain a preliminary assessment of whether health professionals who work in the health facilities covered by the Ethio-Indian Telemedicine program have adopted and used the Telemedicine technology to enhance health care services. Among other things, the study also aims to understand the extent to which health professionals in the study area consider Telemedicine as a viable option for delivery of health care services. Survey will be conducted to gather information from users in the study area. The study is primarily informed by literature on Community of Practice, Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, and Case Study Research
