The topic of medical care facilities for older people is fast becoming a challenge in an aging society such as Malaysia. The objective of this preliminary study is to examine the need for medical care facilities for older people among the local authority areas in Malaysia. The older people have been the focus of this study because they need more medical care than young people. This paper utilized the
data available from the Department of Statistics, Malaysia. Overall, this study indicates that the number of older people differs obviously among the local authority areas in Malaysia. Bigger local authority areas of major towns have a higher number of older people. The top five local authority areas involved are located at Kuala Lumpur, Pulau Pinang, Ipoh, Seberang Perai and Petaling Jaya. Instead, smaller local authority areas (unless Municipal Council of Pasir Gudang and Corporation of Putrajaya) have a lower number of older people groups. Other local authority areas are located at Pengkalan Hulu, Nabawan, and Cameron Highlands. The findings suggest that local governments,
especially of major towns, should have proper planning of suitable medical care facilities for older people

The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis on rural entrepreneurs
Rural entrepreneurs are significant business groups, being the contributors to the nation’s economy. They are the creators of job opportunities, but they are facing great challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The objective of this research is to explore the impact of the pandemic on rural entrepreneurs. The current research was carried out at the Rural Community Centre (RCC) of Kg. Jelintoh, Gopeng, Perak, Malaysia. Being the most active RCC in conducting entrepreneurship programmes in 2019, that centre was chosen for this study. This exploration research utilised qualitative approach which involved an in-depth interview by using a semi-structured interview format with seven rural entrepreneurs. They were selected through a purposive sampling from the list of rural entrepreneurs. The data were analysed using a thematic analysis method. The results revealed two main themes of the impacts. The first theme was business operation which includes operation disruption, decrease in demand, shortage of logistic supply, and operation closure. The second theme involves business finance that consists of cash flow problems, unexpected increase in production cost, and access to economic stimulus package. The findings from this research provide good inputs to relevant agencies in assisting the rural entrepreneurs to resume their businesses. It is recommended that all types of rural businesses to be allowed to run their normal operations, ensure the smoothness of logistics supply, being offered with financial aids, reduce the production cost, and create an easy-access entry to economic stimulus package
Reviewon Malaysia’s GreenRE in comparison with Singapore’s GreenMark and UK’s BREEAM / Halmi Zainol ... [et al.]
The movement of green building was started after the Agenda21. International Council for Research and
Innovation in Building and Construction highlighted the main challenges that sustainable development presents to
the construction industry. The Agenda had an important role in the creation of green assessment tools in building
industry. An international project coordinated from Canada namely GB Tool (Green Building Tool) was the first
attempt to develop green rating tool. The awareness has emerged the implementation of various rating tools such
as LEED, CASBEE, BREEAM and GreenMark developed by the United States of America, Japan, United Kingdom and Singapore respectively. Many rating systems can be developed in different regions that lookquite different, but
share a common methodology and set of terms. In Malaysia, a new set of rating tool was developed by the Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (REHDA) known as GreenRE. This paper reviews the GreenRE and compare it with GreenMark and BREEAM. Since the latter were more established, this paper will study strengths, weaknesses, gaps and issue within the GreenRE. With the outcome of this study, it may help both the authority and industry-players to prepare a comprehensive assessment tool that suit to local practice
