Structural study on hole-doped superconductors Pr1-xSrxFeAsO
The structural details in Pr1-xSrxFeAsO (1111) superconducting system are
analyzed using data obtained from synchrotron X-ray diffraction and the
structural parameters are carefully studied as the system is moving from
non-superconducting to hole-doped superconducting with the Sr concentration.
Superconductivity emerges when the Sr doping amount reaches 0.221. The linear
increase of the lattice constants proves that Sr is successfully introduced
into the system and its concentration can accurately be determined by the
electron density analyses. The evolution of structural parameters with Sr
concentration in Pr1-xSrxFeAsO and their comparison to other similar structural
parameters of the related Fe-based superconductors suggest that the interlayer
space between the conducting As-Fe-As layer and the insulating Pr-O-Pr layer is
important for improving Tc in the hole-doped (1111) superconductors, which
seems to be different from electron-doped systems.Comment: 17 pages, 7 figures, 1 tabl
Enhanced Orbital Degeneracy in Momentum Space for LaOFeAs
The Fermi surfaces (FS) of LaOFeAs (in =0 plane) consist of two
hole-type circles around point, which do not touch each other, and two
electron-type co-centered ellipses around M point, which are degenerate along
the M-X line. By first-principles calculations, here we show that additional
degeneracy exists for the two electron-type FS, and the crucial role of
F-doping and pressure is to enhance this orbital degeneracy. It is suggested
that the inter-orbital fluctuation is the key point to understand the
unconventional superconductivity in these materials.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
Pressure Effect on the superconducting properties of LaO_{1-x}F_{x}FeAs(x=0.11) superconductor
Diamagnetic susceptibility measurements under high hydrostatic pressure (up
to 1.03 GPa) were carried out on the newly discovered Fe-based superconductor
LaO_{1-x}F_{x}FeAs(x=0.11). The transition temperature T_c, defined as the
point at the maximum slope of superconducting transition, was enhanced almost
linearly by hydrostatic pressure, yielding a dT_c/dP of about 1.2 K/GPa.
Differential diamagnetic susceptibility curves indicate that the underlying
superconducting state is complicated. It is suggested that pressure plays an
important role on pushing low T_c superconducting phase toward the main
(optimal) superconducting phase.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure
Amniotic fluid embolism as a cause of maternal mortality in China between 1996 and 2013: A population-based retrospective study
© 2016 The Author(s). Background: To analyse the maternal mortality ratio, demographic and pregnancy related details in women who suffered a fatal amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) in China. Methods: A retrospective population based study using data collected as part of the National Maternal Mortality Surveillance System between 1996 and 2013. Data were collected onto a standardised form from women whose cause of death was listed as being secondary to AFE. Results: Records were available for 640 deaths. Over the 17 year period the maternal mortality ratio for AFE decreased from 4.4 per 100,000 births (95 % confidence interval (CI):2.72-6.12) to 1.9 per 100,000 births (95 % CI:1.35-2.54). Over the same period the proportion of maternal deaths secondary to AFE increased from 6.8 to 12.5 %. The mean age of women who died was 30.1 years and the onset of the AFE occurred prior to delivery in 39 %. The most prominent presenting features included premonitory symptoms (29 %), acute fetal compromise (28 %), maternal haemorrhage (16 %) and shortness of breath (15 %). Conclusions: Maternal mortality secondary to AFE has decreased in China, however at a slower rate than mortality secondary to other conditions. Active surveillance is recommended to assess case fatality rates, risk factors and other lessons specific to this population

Angular dependence of resistivity in the superconducting state of NdFeAsOF single crystals
We report the results of angle dependent resistivity of
NdFeAsOF single crystals in the superconducting state. By
doing the scaling of resistivity within the frame of the anisotropic
Ginzburg-Landau theory, it is found that the angle dependent resistivity
measured under different magnetic fields at a certain temperature can be
collapsed onto one curve. As a scaling parameter, the anisotropy can
be determined for different temperatures. It is found that
increases slowly with decreasing temperature, varying from 5.48
at T=50 K to 6.24 at T=44 K. This temperature dependence can be
understood within the picture of multi-band superconductivity.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figure
Combining Fine- and Coarse-Grained Classifiers for Diabetic Retinopathy Detection
Visual artefacts of early diabetic retinopathy in retinal fundus images are
usually small in size, inconspicuous, and scattered all over retina. Detecting
diabetic retinopathy requires physicians to look at the whole image and fixate
on some specific regions to locate potential biomarkers of the disease.
Therefore, getting inspiration from ophthalmologist, we propose to combine
coarse-grained classifiers that detect discriminating features from the whole
images, with a recent breed of fine-grained classifiers that discover and pay
particular attention to pathologically significant regions. To evaluate the
performance of this proposed ensemble, we used publicly available EyePACS and
Messidor datasets. Extensive experimentation for binary, ternary and quaternary
classification shows that this ensemble largely outperforms individual image
classifiers as well as most of the published works in most training setups for
diabetic retinopathy detection. Furthermore, the performance of fine-grained
classifiers is found notably superior than coarse-grained image classifiers
encouraging the development of task-oriented fine-grained classifiers modelled
after specialist ophthalmologists.Comment: Pages 12, Figures
Competitions of magnetism and superconductivity in FeAs-based materials
Using the numerical unrestricted Hartree-Fock approach, we study the ground
state of a two-orbital model describing newly discovered FeAs-based
superconductors. We observe the competition of a mode spin-density
wave and the superconductivity as the doping concentration changes. There might
be a small region in the electron-doping side where the magnetism and
superconductivity coexist. The superconducting pairing is found to be spin
singlet, orbital even, and mixed s + d wave (even
parity).Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure
Reactions of OH and Cl with isopropyl formate, isobutyl formate, n-propyl isobutyrate and isopropyl isobutyrate
International audienceThe rate coefficients for the reactions of OH with isopropyl formate, isobutyl formate, n-propyl isobutyrate and isopropyl isobutyrate have been determined using both absolute and relative methods. The relative rate method has been also used to measure the room temperature rate coefficient for the reaction of Cl with the same esters. In addition, a series of runs conducted on the OH-initiated oxidation of isopropyl formate, isobutyl formate and n-propyl isobutyrate showed the formation of acetone from the three reactions. The formation of propanal was also observed for n-propyl isobutyrate
