Monitoring of the water particle velocity field near the seabed under different wave and tidal scenarios: a real case
Monitoring of water particle velocity on the sea bed is crucial to study morphological shore changes in a coast at intermediate and shallow water depth under progressive surface waves and tidal flow current. Therefore, 3-D particle velocity was monitored continuously at the bottom of Santa Maria del Mar (SMM) beach (SW Spain) by means of a single point current meter during 3 weeks in 2007 since August 28. The current meter was placed at 0.45m above the seabed in order to acquire instantaneous velocity. Wave properties (height and period) were taken from the nearby wave buoy and tidal data were taken from a tidal gauge station. Wave-induced bottom particle velocities were obtained during spring and neap tides at a d/L (depth over wave length) parameter ranging from 0.06 to 0.3. Bottom water particle velocity near the seabed ranges from 0 to ± 0.5 m/sec of which about 82% does not exceed 0.2 m/sec during monitoring. Therefore, only 18% of the surveyed water particle velocities exceed the critical Shield parameter of the beach sand (d50 = 0.23mm) which is about 0.05-0.2 depending on Reynolds number. Results show that maximum horizontal speed is obviously lower during the slack tide (high or low tide) in comparison with flood tide and ebb tide. Moreover, speed is higher during ebb tide in comparison to adjacent flood tide, with steady wave climate. Finally and among other conclusions, the maximum real values of the bottom current surveyed in SMM, as well as the Shield parameter, substantially coincide with the theoretical estimates calculated for a given wave and tidal climate
Puntos de corte para el acoso psicológico en el trabajo: el cuestionario breve de actos negativos (S-NAQ) en español
Antecedentes: el acoso psicolĂłgico en el trabajo es un estresor laboral severo de origen social. Sin embargo, en el contexto español, hay escasez de medidas que nos permitan diagnosticar de forma fiable si una persona está siendo objeto de acoso. MĂ©todo: se informa de las propiedades psicomĂ©tricas, la estructura factorial y los puntos de corte del Cuestionario Breve de Actos Negativos (S-NAQ) en una muestra española (N = 1.409). Resultados: el S-NAQ presenta unas buenas propiedades psicomĂ©tricas. Los análisis factoriales exploratorios y confirmatorios revelan que la escala tiene una Ăşnica dimensiĂłn. Los datos de las curvas ROC indican dos puntos de corte que nos permiten categorizar a las personas como “no expuestas a conductas de acoso” (puntuaciones menores de 15), “en riesgo de ser acosadas” (puntuaciones entre 15 y 22), o “vĂctimas de acoso” (puntuaciones mayores de 22). Conclusiones: estos puntos de corte pueden facilitar el diagnĂłstico de acoso y servir para diseñar intervenciones segĂşn cada categorĂa.Background: Workplace bullying is considered a major social stressor at work. However, in the Spanish context, there is a lack of measures that allow researchers and practitioners to distinguish between non-targets and targets of workplace bullying. Method: This study reports the psychometric properties, factor structure, and cutoff scores for the Short-Negative Acts Questionnaire (S-NAQ) in a Spanish sample (N = 1,409). Results: The S-NAQ demonstrated adequate psychometric properties. Moreover, both Exploratory and Confi rmatory Factor Analysis revealed that a unifactorial model of workplace bullying fi t the data best. Two cutoff points for the S-NAQ were formulated using receiver operating characteristic curves to categorize respondents as “not exposed to workplace bullying” (scores below 15), “at risk of being bullied” (scores between 15 and 22), and “targets of workplace bullying” (scores above 22). Conclusions: These cutoff scores may help researchers and practitioners in diagnosing workplace bullying and designing intervention strategies.Ministerio de Ciencia e InnovaciĂłn PSI2017-83465-
Algunos comentarios sobre el derecho privilegiado local de LlĂvia
Els objectius perseguits sĂłn tres: identificar i fer la cronologia dels privilegis locals de
LlĂvia realment continguts en el cartulari anomenat Llibre ferrat, que passen de disset a
vint-i-cinc i comencen el 1289 en lloc del 1387; assenyalar el fil cronològic conductor del
dret privilegiat local de LlĂvia en el seu conjunt, basat en un total de cinquanta-sis textos
(fins ara publicats o citats) i que va del segle xii al xviii; i suggerir com a possible motiu de
la confecciĂł del Llibre ferrat, la intenciĂł de reflectir en un sĂmbol especĂfic la imatge que la
ciutat volia oferir de si mateixa, i no tant la construcciĂł d'un instrument jurĂdic per a ser
aplicat com a tal.This paper has a threefold aim: to establish an identification and chronology of the
local privileges of LlĂvia which are actually contained in the cartulary called Llibre ferrat,
which rise from 17 to 25 and begin in 1289 instead of 1387; to shed light on the guiding
chronological thread of the local privileges of LlĂvia as a whole, based on a total of 56 texts
(published or cited to date) which range from the 12th to the 18th centuries; and to suggest
that a possible reason for making the Llibre ferrat was the intention of reflecting, in a specific
symbol, the image which the city wished to present of itself, more than to provide a
legal instrument to be applied as such.Los objetivos perseguidos son tres: identificar y hacer la cronologĂa de los privilegios
locales de LlĂvia realmente contenidos en el cartulario llamado Llibre ferrat, que pasan de
diecisiete a veinticinco y comienzan en 1289 en lugar de 1387; señalar el hilo cronológico
conductor del derecho privilegiado local de LlĂvia en su conjunto, basado en un total de
cincuenta y seis textos (hasta ahora publicados o citados) y que va del siglo xii al xviii; y
sugerir como posible motivo de la confecciĂłn del Llibre ferrat, la intenciĂłn de reflejar en
un sĂmbolo especĂfico la imagen que la ciudad querĂa ofrecer de sĂ misma, y no tanto la
construcciĂłn de un instrumento jurĂdico para ser aplicado como tal
Ruthenium-Catalyzed Heck-Type Alkenylation of Alkyl Bromides
The complex [Cp*RuCl(PPh3)2] displays a high catalytic activity for
the Heck-type alkenylation of alkyl bromides, in the first example using this metal
under thermal conditions. The coupling reaction proceeds efficiently with a
variety of functionalized tertiary, secondary, and primary alkyl bromides. The
presence of Hünig’s base has been revealed crucial for this transformation. Preliminary
mechanistic studies support the participation of alkyl radicals in the

Short term variability of reef protected beach profiles: an analysis using EOF
Victoria beach (SW Spain) has a rocky flat at the northernmost zone. This has allowed to choose one profile and monitoring the changes induced by a single day storm. Topographic data taken during 21 days and different tendencies of the beach profile, as the accretion rate, were identified. The analysis is carried out by means of Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) techniques, in order to separate the spatial from the temporal variability of the beach profile data. Among the conclusions, it should be highlighted that a swing or oscillation point of the profile was found around the intertidal zone. Furthermore, the erosion has been irreversible in a short term, and the recuperation consisted only in a modification of the slopes of the emerged part, trying to assimilate them to the ones before the storm.
