Information Technology-assisted Teaching in the Field of Geodesy: Mentor – Debutant Co-operation
AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to analyse and asses the information technology-assisted teaching process of a debutant teacher, by following the advice of a mentor and using new teaching methods in the subject area of algorithms for geodetic networks analysis within the framework of the mentoring program “University school for initial and continuous training of the teachers and trainers in the field of technical and engineering specializations – DidaTec”, POSDRU/87/1.3/S/6089. As a result of the mentor – debutant meetings, evaluation reports were prepared by the debutant establishing the adequate teaching process and methods to be used; the design and development of a seminar material in electronic form, with the specific structure of blended learning and e-learning
Monitoring of Buituri Slag Dump, Hunedoara County in Relation with Environmental Protection
Detailed analysis of appearance and relief evolution in mining areas cannot be done without mining engineering concepts. Over time, researchers around the world have responsibly been involved in this matter necessary for the development of society, also with obvious implications and repercussions over the quality of life. The purpose of the scientific research detailed in this paper comprises in monitoring the slag dump from Buituri, Hunedoara County using space geodetic technology. Slag dump is the result of steel production activities carried out under the steel factory Arcelor Mittal Hunedoara S.A., formerly known as the steel factory Hunedoara - Siderurgica S.A. Therefore it was decided to conduct monthly topographic measurements to monitor possible dynamic changes that may appear in the context of continuous exploitation of the above mentioned slag dump. Monitoring possible movements is performed by comparing transversal and longitudinal profiles drawn based on zero measurement carried out on 20.05.2011, with the ones obtained after processing of the monthly measurements realized throughout the years 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. Also, for observing the displacements, comparative charts or tables with records regarding coordinates differences are studied. The issue of measuring and graphic representation of settlements, horizontal linear movements and landslides for structures such as slag or sterile dumps, requires further studies and interdisciplinary research, creating links between specialists in the fields of terrestrial measurements science and geology
Digital Modeling Phenomenon Of Surface Ground Movement
With the development of specialized software applications it was possible to approach and resolve complex problems concerning automating and process optimization for which are being used field data. Computerized representation of the shape and dimensions of the Earth requires a detailed mathematical modeling, known as "digital terrain model". The paper aims to present the digital terrain model of Vulcan mining, Hunedoara County, Romania. Modeling consists of a set of mathematical equations that define in detail the surface of Earth and has an approximate surface rigorously and mathematical, that calculated the land area. Therefore, the digital terrain model means a digital representation of the earth's surface through a mathematical model that approximates the land surface modeling, which can be used in various civil and industrial applications in. To achieve the digital terrain model of data recorded using linear and nonlinear interpolation method based on point survey which highlights the natural surface studied. Given the complexity of this work it is absolutely necessary to know in detail of all topographic elements of work area, without the actions to be undertaken to project and manipulate would not be possible. To achieve digital terrain model, within a specialized software were set appropriate parameters required to achieve this case study. After performing all steps we obtained digital terrain model of Vulcan Mine. Digital terrain model is the complex product, which has characteristics that are equivalent to the specialists that use satellite images and information stored in a digital model, this is easier to use
Aspects Regarding the Tracking of the Behavior in Time of Vâlsan Dam, Arges County, Romania
This paper aims to highlight the behavior in time monitoring of a hydrotechnical construction by establishing the displacements compared to the base tranche and the previous tranche, processing these measurements and establishing conclusions on the behavior of the analyzed construction. The main purpose of this paper is to study if there are any displacements of the studied hydrotechnical construction between different measurements tranches. Field measurements were performed between September - December 2016, after which the data was processed at the office with specially developed programs for this purpose. For the micro-triangulation stage, respectively for measuring the directions and distances, were used Leica TS02 Plus R500 total stations. The measurement accuracy of this total station is 1” for directional determination and 1.5mm + 2ppm for distances. Tracking the behavior in time of hydrotechnical constructions are of great importance, because it can prevent many calamities like breaking the dam, floods etc
Racial differences in systemic sclerosis disease presentation: a European Scleroderma Trials and Research group study
Objectives. Racial factors play a significant role in SSc. We evaluated differences in SSc presentations between white patients (WP), Asian patients (AP) and black patients (BP) and analysed the effects of geographical locations.Methods. SSc characteristics of patients from the EUSTAR cohort were cross-sectionally compared across racial groups using survival and multiple logistic regression analyses.Results. The study included 9162 WP, 341 AP and 181 BP. AP developed the first non-RP feature faster than WP but slower than BP. AP were less frequently anti-centromere (ACA; odds ratio (OR) = 0.4, P < 0.001) and more frequently anti-topoisomerase-I autoantibodies (ATA) positive (OR = 1.2, P = 0.068), while BP were less likely to be ACA and ATA positive than were WP [OR(ACA) = 0.3, P < 0.001; OR(ATA) = 0.5, P = 0.020]. AP had less often (OR = 0.7, P = 0.06) and BP more often (OR = 2.7, P < 0.001) diffuse skin involvement than had WP.AP and BP were more likely to have pulmonary hypertension [OR(AP) = 2.6, P < 0.001; OR(BP) = 2.7, P = 0.03 vs WP] and a reduced forced vital capacity [OR(AP) = 2.5, P < 0.001; OR(BP) = 2.4, P < 0.004] than were WP. AP more often had an impaired diffusing capacity of the lung than had BP and WP [OR(AP vs BP) = 1.9, P = 0.038; OR(AP vs WP) = 2.4, P < 0.001]. After RP onset, AP and BP had a higher hazard to die than had WP [hazard ratio (HR) (AP) = 1.6, P = 0.011; HR(BP) = 2.1, P < 0.001].Conclusion. Compared with WP, and mostly independent of geographical location, AP have a faster and earlier disease onset with high prevalences of ATA, pulmonary hypertension and forced vital capacity impairment and higher mortality. BP had the fastest disease onset, a high prevalence of diffuse skin involvement and nominally the highest mortality
ANALYSIS REGARDING THE IMPORTANCE OF GIS FOR LOCAL ADMINISTRATION PROCESS
In this material was carried out a study concerning the needs, the degree of implementation and the expectations that people have of a GIS. The study consisted of filling in questionnaires about the extent of introducing GIS in each municipalities. First was desired to find the degree of computerization of the city hall and if the employees know what is a GIS. Secondly was finding the utility of GIS in their daily work
MAPPING BROWNFIELDS AS AN URBAN PLANNING ACTION
Brownfield sites have an important potential for a sustainable urban redevelopment, but in the same time they represent a challenge for the stakeholders. Finding solutions for brownfield redevelopment may be difficult for the authorities and owners alike. In this paper we classified the type of the Brownfield sites and we want to emphasize the importance of using these lands
