En este trabajo se presentan los materiales cerámicos procedentes de un relleno sincrónico de un aljibe de construcción íbera situado en el yacimiento de Iliberri, bajo el actual barrio de El Albaicín. Se analiza el material con el uso de SIRA, aplicación que permite sistematizar resultados comparables mediante diversos sistemas de cuantificación. Este material, muy homogéneo en su composición, permite fechar el relleno en torno al año 100 a.C., y se compone básicamente de cerámicas de producción indígena con algunos, escasos, ejemplos de materiales de importación, entre los que destacamos algunos barnices negros, así como ánforas de diversa procedencia.This paper presents the ceramic materials from a synchronic fill of an Iberian construction cistern located at the site of Iliberri, under the present-day neighbourhood of El Albaicín. The material is analysed using SIRA, an application that allows us to systematise comparable results using different quantification systems. This material, which is very homogeneous in its composition, allows us to date the fill to around 100 BC, and is basically made up of ceramics of indigenous production with a few examples of imported materials, including some black glazes, as well as amphorae of different origins
Validation of a structured role assignment methodology in group work for engineering courses = Validación de una metodología de asignación estructurada de roles en el trabajo en grupo en asignaturas de ámbito ingenieril
La incorporación de actividades de trabajo en equipo en los programas de formación universitaria es esencial, ya que es una de las habilidades más valoradas para los profesionales en el campo de la ingeniería. La selección de los grupos de trabajo por parte del profesor es una estrategia que puede conducir a un mejor desempeño en las tareas colaborativas. Este estudio presenta los resultados de una investigación sobre los criterios conscientes para la selección de grupos de trabajo basados en los roles de los estudiantes. La investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar las dinámicas de trabajo en equipo entre estudiantes de diversas disciplinas dentro de los cursos de ingeniería. Se examinaron las opiniones de más de 600 estudiantes matriculados en 10 programas de grado y posgrado. Los resultados indican que los estudiantes de cursos avanzados se sienten más cómodos asumiendo el papel de líder, mientras que los estudiantes de primer año no tienen un perfil claramente definido. La evaluación de los estudiantes con esta metodología también muestra ciertas variaciones dependiendo del año y el tipo de actividad. En general, en los grupos con mejor rendimiento, la mayoría de los miembros reciben evaluaciones similares de sus compañeros.AbstractThe incorporation of teamwork activities in university training programs is essential, as it is one of the most valued skills for professionals in the field of engineering. The selection of working groups by the teacher is a strategy that can lead to better performance in collaborative tasks. This study presents the results of research on the conscious selection criteria for group work based on students’ roles. The research aimed to analyze teamwork dynamics among students from various disciplines within engineering courses. The opinions of over 600 students enrolled in 10 undergraduate and postgraduate programs were examined. The results indicate that students in advanced courses feel more comfortable taking on the role of leader, while first-year students do not have a well-defined profile. The evaluation of students using this methodology also shows certain variations depending on the year and type of activity. Overall, in the highest-performing groups, most members receive similar evaluations from their peers
ANGPTL-4 is Associated with Obesity and Lipid Profile in Children and Adolescents
Angiopoietin-like protein 4 (ANGPTL-4) regulates lipidic metabolism and affects energy homeostasis. However, its function in children with obesity remains unknown. We investigated plasma ANGPTL-4 levels in children and its relationship with body mass index (BMI) and different lipidic parameters such as free fatty acids (FFA). Plasma ANGPTL-4 levels were analyzed in two different cohorts. In the first cohort (n = 150, age 3–17 years), which included children with normal weight or obesity, we performed a cross-sectional study. In the second cohort, which included only children with obesity (n = 20, age 5–18 years) followed up for two years after an intervention for weight loss, in which we performed a longitudinal study measuring ANGPTL-4 before and after BMI-loss. In the cross-sectional study, circulating ANGPTL-4 levels were lower in children with obesity than in those with normal weight. Moreover, ANGPTL-4 presented a negative correlation with BMI, waist circumference, weight, insulin, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance index (HOMA index), triglycerides, and leptin, and a positive correlation with FFA and vitamin-D. In the longitudinal study, the percent change in plasma ANGPTL-4 was correlated with the percent change in FFA, total-cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Examining the immune signatures of SARS-CoV-2 infection in pregnancy and the impact on neurodevelopment: Protocol of the SIGNATURE longitudinal study.
The COVID-19 pandemic represents a valuable opportunity to carry out cohort studies that allow us to advance our knowledge on pathophysiological mechanisms of neuropsychiatric diseases. One of these opportunities is the study of the relationships between inflammation, brain development and an increased risk of suffering neuropsychiatric disorders. Based on the hypothesis that neuroinflammation during early stages of life is associated with neurodevelopmental disorders and confers a greater risk of developing neuropsychiatric disorders, we propose a cohort study of SARS-CoV-2-infected pregnant women and their newborns. The main objective of SIGNATURE project is to explore how the presence of prenatal SARS-CoV-2 infection and other non-infectious stressors generates an abnormal inflammatory activity in the newborn. The cohort of women during the COVID-19 pandemic will be psychological and biological monitored during their pregnancy, delivery, childbirth and postpartum. The biological information of the umbilical cord (foetus blood) and peripheral blood from the mother will be obtained after childbirth. These samples and the clinical characterisation of the cohort of mothers and newborns, are tremendously valuable at this time. This is a protocol report and no analyses have been conducted yet, being currently at, our study is in the recruitment process step. At the time of this publication, we have identified 1,060 SARS-CoV-2 infected mothers and all have already given birth. From the total of identified mothers, we have recruited 537 SARS-COV-2 infected women and all of them have completed the mental health assessment during pregnancy. We have collected biological samples from 119 mothers and babies. Additionally, we have recruited 390 non-infected pregnant women
Connected Insulin Pens and Caps : An Expert's Recommendation from the Area of Diabetes of the Spanish Endocrinology and Nutrition Society (SEEN)
Undoubtedly, technological advances have revolutionised diabetes management in recent years. The development of advanced closed hybrid loop insulin pumps or continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems, among others, have increased the quality of life and improved glycaemic control of people with diabetes. However, only some patients have access to such technology, and only some want to use it. CGM has become much more widespread, but in terms of insulin delivery, most people with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and almost all people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) on insulin therapy are treated with multiple-dose insulin injections (MDI) rather than an insulin pump. For these patients, using connected insulin pens or caps has shown benefits in reducing missed insulin injections and promoting correct administration over time. In addition, using these devices improves the quality of life and user satisfaction. The integration of insulin injection and CGM data facilitates both users and the healthcare team to analyse glucose control and implement appropriate therapeutic changes, reducing therapeutic inertia. This expert's recommendation reviews the characteristics of the devices marketed or in the process of being marketed and their available scientific evidence. Finally, it suggests the profile of users and professionals who would benefit most, the barriers to its generalisation and the changes in the care model that implementing these devices can bring with it

Prevalence, associated factors and outcomes of pressure injuries in adult intensive care unit patients: the DecubICUs study

Epidemiologic data is however unavailable. We aimed to provide an international picture of the extent of pressure injuries and factors associated with ICU-acquired pressure injuries in adult ICU patients. Methods: International 1-day point-prevalence study; follow-up for outcome assessment until hospital discharge (maximum 12 weeks). Factors associated with ICU-acquired pressure injury and hospital mortality were assessed by generalised linear mixed-effects regression analysis. Results: Data from 13,254 patients in 1117 ICUs (90 countries) revealed 6747 pressure injuries; 3997 (59.2%) were ICU-acquired. Overall prevalence was 26.6% (95% confidence interval [CI] 25.9–27.3). ICU-acquired prevalence was 16.2% (95% CI 15.6–16.8). Sacrum (37%) and heels (19.5%) were most affected. Factors independently associated with ICU-acquired pressure injuries were older age, male sex, being underweight, emergency surgery, higher Simplified Acute Physiology Score II, Braden score 3 days, comorbidities (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, immunodeficiency), organ support (renal replacement, mechanical ventilation on ICU admission), and being in a low or lower-middle income-economy. Gradually increasing associations with mortality were identified for increasing severity of pressure injury: stage I (odds ratio [OR] 1.5; 95% CI 1.2–1.8), stage II (OR 1.6; 95% CI 1.4–1.9), and stage III or worse (OR 2.8; 95% CI 2.3–3.3). Conclusion: Pressure injuries are common in adult ICU patients. ICU-acquired pressure injuries are associated with mainly intrinsic factors and mortality. Optimal care standards, increased awareness, appropriate resource allocation, and further research into optimal prevention are pivotal to tackle this important patient safety threat

A synchronical context of late iberian period in archaeological site of Iliberri, under the neirborhood of Albaicín, is analyzed in this paper. We use SIRA to the study, so it allows us the clasification and quantification of this ceramic context following the most international and accepted protocols in Iron Age and Classical Archaeology. The context is very homogeneus and its dates around 100 BC, with a majority percentage of indigenous pottery, and not so many importet materials, as black glazed pottery and amphorae from several provenances.En este trabajo se presentan los materiales cerámicos procedentes de un relleno sincrónico de un aljibe de construcción íbera situado en el yacimiento de Iliberri, bajo el actual barrio de El Albaicín.
