Strategies for the prevention of errors in medication administration: a contribution to nursing practice

Obejctive: Identify the factors related to the professional practice of nursing what lead to errors in medication administration and analyze the strategies pointed to prevent and/or minimize these errors. Method: This is an integrative literature review. To the selection the analyzed material were used the databases SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online), LILACS (Latin-American and Caribbean Literature in Science of Health) and BIREME (Virtual Health Library), in the period to april to june of 2013. Results: The strategies suggested for the prevention of errors, was the continuing education of professionals and the proper dimensioning. Conclusion: Educational measures and changes in nursing practices collaborate to prevent errors and promote holistic care with minimal risk and maximum quality

A experiência da rede PETRO-RS : uma estratégia para o desenvolvimento das capacidades dinâmicas

Com base na experiência pioneira no Brasil de uma rede de empresas fornecedoras da cadeia de suprimento da indústria do petróleo e gás localizada no Rio Grande do Sul – a Rede PETRO-RS, o artigo sustenta que a organização em torno de uma rede voltada para o mercado e o desenvolvimento tecnológico contribui para os recursos das organizações, subsidiando o desenvolvimento das capacidades dinâmicas. Desta forma, o artigo argumenta que a formação de uma rede que estimule a cooperação entre os atores envolvidos no processo de inovação tecnológica e que potencie os recursos internos e externos das empresas constitui uma estratégia para o desenvolvimento das capacidades dinâmicas. Resultado de uma iniciativa do Governo do Estado, a Rede PETRO-RS reúne mais de 100 empresas, além de extensa gama de outros atores como universidades, centros de pesquisa, fornecedores, clientes (com destaque para a PETROBRÁS) e órgãos governamentais. Dada a diversidade de atores envolvidos e sua forte vinculação com a inovação tecnológica na cadeia de suprimento da indústria de petróleo e gás, a experiência da Rede PETRO-RS constitui um exemplo da construção de capacidades associada à formação de uma estratégia coletiva ou interorganizacional.Based upon a pioneer experience in Brazil of a suppliers network from the oil and gas industry supply chain located in Rio Grande do Sul – Rede PETRO-RS, it is argued that the building of a business network to break into new markets and carry out technological development contribute to the organization resources and to the development of dynamic capabilities. Thus, the article poses that the formation of a network stimulating cooperation among the different actors involved in the technological innovation to best use internal and external resources outlines a strategy for the development of dynamic capabilities. Resulting from a initiative from the State Government from Rio Grande do Sul, Rede PETRO-RS gathers more than 100 companies, besides other actors such as universities, research centers, suppliers, customers (especially the case of PETROBRÁS) and Government bodies. Due to the wide range of actors and their strong link to technological innovation in the oil and gas supply chain, Rede PETRO-RS is seen as an example of the formation of a collective or interorganizational strategy

Treatment of child with phenylketonuria: a literature review

Objective: To analyze the importance of Neonatal Screening for the treatment of children with phenylketonuria. Method: This is an integrative review. To select the studies we looked at the electronic databases Scientific Electronic Library Online - SciELO journal portal and CAPES in September 2013, using the keywords: Phenylketonuria, Triage, Child health. Results: The analysis of the articles indicated that in the period 2008-2013, the year 2010 had the highest number of publications. Most studies paused to examine the importance of neonatal screening program to evaluate the tracking phenylketonuria, as well as to characterize the performance of children diagnosed and treated early with phenylketonuria. Conclusion: Studies have shown that treatment is significantly more effective when deployed in pre - clinical stage of the disease and there is a screening test, the screening test, which is simple, efficient , applicable on a large scale and low cost

Comparative study of plans for integrated residue management of construction: an analysis documental

Objective: The present study is a comparative study of integrated plans in four cities, highlighting the points that are in accordance with Resolution 307/2002 of CONAMA. Methods: This is a bibliographic and documentary research as having scientific articles sources Plans and Integrated Solid Waste Management Construction of five Brazilian cities: Curitiba, Cuiaba, Florianopolis, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Results: The resolution foresees the Integrated Management of Residues Plan for Construction, as an instrument for implementing the management of construction waste, to be developed by municipalities. Many capital not yet made their plans Integrated Residue Management Construction. Conclusion: The Integrated Waste Management Plan Construction is of great importance, because these residues bring many environmental and health problems

The influence of the textural properties of activated carbons on acetaminophen adsorption at different temperatures

The influence of temperature (20–40 °C) on the acetaminophen adsorption onto activated carbons with different textures was studied. Different temperature dependences, not explained by kinetic effects, were observed for carbons with different micropore size distribution patterns: adsorption capacity increased for pine gasification residues (Pi-fa) derived carbons and decreased for sisal based materials. No significant variation was seen for carbon CP. The species identified by 1H NMR spectroscopy on the back-extraction solution proved that during the adsorption process exist the conditions required to promote the formation of acetaminophen oligomers which have constrained access to the narrow microporosity. The rotation energy of the dihedral angle between monomers (estimated by electronic DFT methods) showed that conformations in the planar form are less stable than the non-planar conformation (energy barrier of 70 and 23 kJ mol-1), but have critical dimensions similar to the monomer and can access most of the micropore volume. The enthalpy change of the overall process showed that the energy gain of the system (endothermic) for Pi-fa samples (˜40 kJ mol-1) was enough to allow a change in the dimer, or even a larger oligomer, conformation to the planar form. This will permit adsorption in the narrow micropores, thus explaining the uptake increase with temperature. Non-continuous micropore size distributions centered at pore widths close to the critical dimensions of the planar form seem to be crucial for a positive evolution of the adsorption capacity with temperature

Os efeitos da posição prona na mecânica respiratória dos pacientes com síndrome do desconforto respiratório do adulto/ The effects of the prona position in the respiratory mechanics of patients with adult respiratory disorder syndrome

O estudo tem como objetivo relatar o impacto da posição prona na terapêutica de pacientes com síndrome do desconforto respiratório do adulto, analisando o efeito que tal posição acarreta na resposta pulmonar. O presente trabalho trata-se de um estudo bibliográfico com recorte temporal entre 2009 e 2019. Teve como base a seguinte pergunta norteadora: qual é o impacto da posição prona na síndrome do desconforto respiratório do adulto?.A pesquisa foi realizada inicialmente com a procura dos descritores Síndrome do desconforto respiratório do adulto; Terapêutica; Posição prona no DescBVS e no Sielo. Logo após a obtenção do mesmo, foi realizada uma pesquisa de informações no BVS e na Scielo e aplicado 8 filtros no cruzamento desses descritores para utilização na íntegra dos artigos encontrados. Foi definido como critério de inclusão: ser artigo científico, disponível na íntegra, publicado entre 2009-2019, de acesso livre e gratuito. Como critérios de exclusão, incluíram-se: publicações repetidas e trabalhos só com o resumo disponível. Os resultados encontrados evidenciam que apesar de avanços no estudo da patogênese da Síndrome do Desconforto Respiratório do Adulto (SDRA), essa ainda tem mortalidade significativamente elevada. As manobras de recrutamento alveolar e a posição prona são de muita importância para o tratamento de pacientes com SDRA e têm a finalidade de melhorar a oxigenação e minimizar as complicações decorrentes da hipoxemia refratária, diminuindo ainda a complacência pulmonar. Portanto, através deste estudo, foi possível concluir que a posição prona é extremamente benéfica para os pacientes com SDRA, sendo, portanto, de extrema necessidade a maior investigação sobre a temática

Photography-based taxonomy is inadequate, unnecessary, and potentially harmful for biological sciences

The question whether taxonomic descriptions naming new animal species without type specimen(s) deposited in collections should be accepted for publication by scientific journals and allowed by the Code has already been discussed in Zootaxa (Dubois & Nemésio 2007; Donegan 2008, 2009; Nemésio 2009a–b; Dubois 2009; Gentile & Snell 2009; Minelli 2009; Cianferoni & Bartolozzi 2016; Amorim et al. 2016). This question was again raised in a letter supported by 35 signatories published in the journal Nature (Pape et al. 2016) on 15 September 2016. On 25 September 2016, the following rebuttal (strictly limited to 300 words as per the editorial rules of Nature) was submitted to Nature, which on 18 October 2016 refused to publish it. As we think this problem is a very important one for zoological taxonomy, this text is published here exactly as submitted to Nature, followed by the list of the 493 taxonomists and collection-based researchers who signed it in the short time span from 20 September to 6 October 2016
