New Small Compounds Based on Thienylenevinylene with D-A-D Structure for BHJ Applications: Theoretical Study

    Get PDF
In this work, ten new small molecules based on Thienylenevinylene as a donor and heterocyclic group A as acceptor of electrons with the donor-acceptor-donor D-A-D structure were studied by density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT (TDDFT) methods using the Gaussian09 program. The geometric and electronic properties of these compounds have been analyzed and reported by using the DFT /B3LYP level with 6-31G (d,p) basis set. Thus, we calculated the optical properties (absorption/emission) using the TDDFT/CAM-B3LYP/6-31G (d,p) method. The influence of the change of acceptor (Ï€-linker) on the electrochemical, photovoltaic and optic properties has been investigated and discussed. The studied compounds have low energy gap which decreases by going from C1 to C10, this improve the intramolecular charge transfer in these molecules. This work shows that the studied compounds are promising and have good properties for optoelectronic and photovoltaic applications, especially in BHJ solar cells with maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 10% for C7 and C9. Understanding Moroccan Return Migration and Intermarriage Dynamics : The Case of Moroccan Returnees from Japan

The aim of this study is twofold: Firstly, it investigates the role of intermarriage or ‘Kokusai kekkon’ with Japanese natives in facilitating Moroccan migration to Japan. Secondly, it aims to understand the factors which have pushed Moroccan migrants to return home. Over the last decade, a growing number of Moroccan migrants have relied on ‘Kokusai kekkon’ or ‘intermarriage’ with Japanese natives as a strategy to migrate to Japan. Nevertheless, many of these migrants return to Morocco after years of residence and work in Japan. The study takes the hypothesis of structural reasons in Japan and Morocco as the causes of this act. Drawing from in-depth interviews with six former Moroccan migrants who have returned to Morocco, quantitative and qualitative data was collected and analyzed to understand some of the reasons behind this return migration. The study showed that intermarriage was strategic to migration for the majority of the informants; however, it was not a sufficient factor to prevent their return to Morocco. It also revealed many structural factors in both Japan and Morocco that have encouraged this return; including the inability to generate savings, the incapability to remit as well as Japan’s restrictive citizenship requirements

The optoelectronic properties of new dyes based on thienopyrazine

International audienceIn this article, we present the quantum result of six dyes based on thienopyrazine (D1–D6) with donor–π–acceptor structure (D–π–A) using DFT/B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) and TD-DFT/CAM-B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) levels. The donor unit varied and the influence was investigated. The study of structural, electronic, and optical properties of these dyes could help design more efficient functional photovoltaic organic materials. Key parameters in close connection with the short-circuit current density (J sc ) including light harvesting efficiency, injection driving force (ΔG inject ), and total reorganization energy (λ total ) are discussed in this work
