Coalbed methane accumulation conditions and enrichment models of Walloon Coal measure in the Surat Basin, Australia

The coal measure of Middle Jurassic Walloon Subgroup is the main reservoir of coalbed methane (CBM) reservoirs in the Surat Basin, Australia, and it is a set of typical low-rank, high-yield coal measure. To figure out the CBM accumulation conditions and enrichment models of this coal measure, its distribution characteristics, source rock characteristics, reservoir characteristics and preservation conditions were investigated based on mud logging, experimental and testing data. Then, based on the analysis results of gas origin and gas bearing property of this coal measure, 3 CBM development areas in northeastern Surat Basin were analyzed and compared in terms of its gas enrichment model, and favorable conditions for CBM accumulation and enrichment of Walloon coal measure (WCM) was summarized. It is indicated that tectonic movements, groundwater conditions and macerals provide favorable conditions for gas generation of Walloon coal. The roof, floor and interbed of this coal measure are lithologically tight, presenting a good sealing capacity. Besides, the Walloon CBM reservoir is a mixed origin gas reservoir with the secondary biogenic methane as the dominant component formed in a monocline structure jointly sealed by hydrodynamic force and lithology. CBM enrichment is controlled by 3 factors, i.e., local structure, methane generating capacity of coal bed and underground hydrodynamic force, and it can be divided into 3 models, i.e., anticline model, syncline model and slope model, among which, the CBM enrichment degree of the former two models is higher. Finally, different from other CBM reservoirs, the Walloon CBM reservoir satisfies four favorable conditions in CBM accumulation and enrichment, including dual-carbon source, efficient methane generation, moderate hydrodynamic force and double sealing. Keywords: Australia, Surat Basin, Jurassic, Walloon coal measure, CBM, CBM accumulation condition, CBM enrichment mode

The complete mitochondrial genome of Fannia canicularis (Diptera: Fanniidae)

    No full text
Fannia canicularis (Linnaeus, 1761) is a species from the family Fanniidae. In this study, we sequenced and analyzed the complete mitochondrial genome of F. canicularis for the first time. The circular mitogenome is 15,826 bp in length, and includes 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, and a non-coding control region. The family Fanniidae formed a monophyletic clade in the phylogenetic tree based on 13 concatenated PCGs, sister to three other families in Diptera

Sequencing and analysis of the complete mitochondrial genome of Mansonia uniformis (Dipera: Culicidae)

In this study, we sequenced and analyzed the complete mitochondrial genome of Mansonia uniformis, and this is the first report on the genus Mansonia. The circular mitogenome is 15,603 bp long and contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and a A + T-rich control region. Most PCGs start with ATN codons, and end with TAA, except for COX1 starting with TCG codons and COX2 ending with a single thymine stop codon. The phylogenetic tree based on the COX1 gene showed that M. uniformis formed a monophyletic clade, sister to other seven genus from the subfamily Culicinae

An Integrated Analysis of Anatomical and Sugar Contents Identifies How Night Temperatures Regulate the Healing Process of Oriental Melon Grafted onto Pumpkin

Graft healing is a complex process affected by environmental factors, with temperature being one of the most important influencing factors. Here, oriental melon grafted onto pumpkin was used to study changes in graft union formation and sugar contents at the graft interface under night temperatures of 18 °C and 28 °C. Histological analysis suggested that callus formation occurred 3 days after grafting with a night temperature of 28 °C, which was one day earlier than with a night temperature of 18 °C. Vascular reconnection with a night temperature of 28 °C was established 2 days earlier than with a night temperature of 18 °C. Additionally, nine sugars were significantly enriched in the graft union, with the contents of sucrose, trehalose, raffinose, D–glucose, D–fructose, D–galactose, and inositol initially increasing but then decreasing. Furthermore, we also found that exogenous glucose and fructose application promotes vascular reconnection. However, exogenous sucrose application did not promote vascular reconnection. Taken together, our results reveal that elevated temperatures improve the process of graft union formation through increasing the contents of sugars. This study provides information to develop strategies for improving grafting efficiency under low temperatures

Toward Wearable EEG-based Alertness Detection System Using SVM with Optimal Minimum Channels

Alertness is the state of attention by high sensory awareness. A lack of alertness is one of the main reasons of serious accidents. Traffic accidents caused by driver’s drowsy driving have a high fatality rate. This paper presents an EEG-based alertness detection system. In order to ensure the convenience and long-term wearing comfort of EEG recordings, the wearable electrode cap will be the principal choice in the future, and the selection of channels will be limited. We first built a 3-D simulated driving platform using Unity3D. Then, we perform an experiment with driving drift task. EEG signals are recorded form frontal and occipital regions. We select data segments using the driving reaction time, classify the state of alertness with a support vector machine (SVM), and select the optimal combination of channels with minimum number of channels. Our results demonstrate that alertness can be classified efficiently with one channel (PO6) at accuracy of 93.52%, with two channels (FP1+PO6) at 95.85% and with three channels (FP1+PO6+PO5 and FP1+PO6+POZ) at 96.11%

The complete mitochondrial genome of Scatella tenuicosta has been reported in this study. This is the first sequenced complete mitogenome of the genus Scatella. Totally, 37 genes presented in the 15,968 bp circular genome consisting of 22 transfer RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and a non-coding A + T rich-region. The phylogenetic tree was constructed based on the 13 concatenated PCGs using Bayesian inference method and showed that S. tenuicosta formed a monophyletic clade, sister to Archisepsis discolor
