Chimalhuacan in a social, socio-urban and regional context

This work aims to generate better understanding of Chimalhuacán municipality located in the eastern part of the State of Mexico, which has different urban and social characteristics. It describes and analyzes the characteristics of the territory, the importance of the local trend and the municipality sociourban shaping urban dynamics embedded in the Metropolitan Zone of Mexico City, the largest in the country and Latin America. The analysis of social, urban are issues that are attached for setup, the profile and the vocation of local territories, immersed in the metropolis, which are related to factors such as emigrant people of this area, economic reality, and transformation experienced by the population in the municipality.Este trabajo tiene la finalidad de generar mejor conocimiento del municipio de Chimalhuacán ubicado en la región oriente del Estado de México, la cual presenta diferentes características urbanas y sociales. Se describen y analizan las características del territorio, la importancia que adquiere lo local, su tendencia y conformación sociourbana del municipio inserto en la dinámica urbana de la Zona Metropolitana de la Ciudad de México, la más grande del país y de Latinoamérica. El análisis de lo social y lo urbano son temas que se encuentran unidos para conocer la onfiguración, el perfil y la vocación de los territorios locales, inmersos en las metrópolis, que se relacionan con factores como las personas que migran a esta zona, situación económica y transformación que experimenta la población en el municipio

On the improvement of the low energy neutrino factory

The low energy neutrino factory has been proposed as a very sensitive setup for future searches for CP violation and matter effects. Here we study how its performance is affected when the experimental specifications of the setup are varied. Most notably, we have considered the addition of the 'platinum' nu_{mu} -> nu_{e} channel. We find that, whilst theoretically the extra channel provides very useful complementary information and helps to lift degeneracies, its practical usefulness is lost when considering realistic background levels. Conversely, an increase in statistics in the 'golden' nu_{e} -> nu_{mu} channel and, to some extent, an improvement in the energy resolution, lead to an important increase in the performance of the facility, given the rich energy dependence of the 'golden' channel at these energies. We show that a low energy neutrino factory with a baseline of 1300 km, muon energy of 4.5 GeV, and either a 20 kton totally active scintillating detector or 100 kton liquid argon detector, can have outstanding sensitivity to the neutrino oscillation parameters theta13, delta and the mass hierarchy. For our estimated exposure of 2.8 x 10^{23} kton x decays per muon polarity, the low energy neutrino factory has sensitivity to theta13 and delta for sin^{2}(2theta13) > 10^{-4} and to the mass hierarchy for sin^{2}(2theta13) > 10^{-3}.Comment: 13 pages, 8 eps figures. IMPACT OF RMA’S PROJECTED PRICE ON PREVENT PLANTING CLAIMS

This research studies the presence of ex-post moral hazard in the prevent planting provision from the crop insurance program in cotton, corn, and soybeans for the Plains Region and Southeast Regions of the U.S. Three fixed effect models are developed using the proportion of prevent plant acres as the dependent variable, as well as weather, input price, expected harvest price and a break-even point for the independent variables. In addition, a fourth fixed effect (FE) model is introduced using the logit transformation and the same variables as in previous models. The results show the number of PP claims has been driven not solely by weather conditions but by other market-related variables such as expected harvest price and input price, for cotton and soybeans. It is concluded that the proportion of prevented plant acres is endogenous to changes in the input price, expected harvest price, and break-even point, in the case of cotton and soybeans, confirming the presence of moral hazard in these two crops. In contrast, the results show no conclusive evidence that suggests moral hazard in corn

Atmospheric neutrinos in ice and measurement of neutrino oscillation parameters

The main goal of the IceCube Deep Core Array is to search for neutrinos of astrophysical origins. Atmospheric neutrinos are commonly considered as a background for these searches. La torre de la catedral de Murcia, considerada la arquitectura más icónica de la Región de Murcia tras varios siglos de construcción, se presenta como motivo de investigación, no por su valor patrimonial de sobra conocido y por el que se ha escrito, sino por su protagonismo en las artes a partir del último tercio del siglo XIX hasta la actualidad.
