GPGPU for track finding in High Energy Physics
The LHC experiments are designed to detect large amount of physics events
produced with a very high rate. Considering the future upgrades, the data
acquisition rate will become even higher and new computing paradigms must be
adopted for fast data-processing: General Purpose Graphics Processing Units
(GPGPU) is a novel approach based on massive parallel computing. The intense
computation power provided by Graphics Processing Units (GPU) is expected to
reduce the computation time and to speed-up the low-latency applications used
for fast decision taking. In particular, this approach could be hence used for
high-level triggering in very complex environments, like the typical inner
tracking systems of the multi-purpose experiments at LHC, where a large number
of charged particle tracks will be produced with the luminosity upgrade. In
this article we discuss a track pattern recognition algorithm based on the
Hough Transform, where a parallel approach is expected to reduce dramatically
the execution time.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, proceedings prepared for GPU-HEP 2014 conference,

A developmental perspective on adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy. An Italian study with the Adolescent Psychotherapy Q-Set
Introduction: despite large and widely accepted research on effectiveness, most of psychotherapy research has been done with adults; few studies have been published on the process of adolescent psychotherapy, due to the complexity of the subject and the absence of instruments sensitive enough to empirically capture its nuances. Within psychoanalytic framework, a developmental approach is particu-larly helpful in the psychotherapy of adolescents. Objective: the purpose of this study was to investigate the typical features of Italian Adolescence Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and its similarities and differences with other adolescence psycho-therapeutic approaches; We also aimed at analyzing typical therapists' responses to adolescent patients. Method: 50 italian adolescence psychotherapists filled a brief questionnaire about their clinical expertise, completed the Adolescent Psychothe-rapy Q – Set (APQ) and the Therapist Response Questionnaire (TRQ) in order to describe their "actual" practice with adolescents. Results: therapeutic process is characterized by a priority to helping adolescent make sense of his own experience, it focuses on present relationships and emotions rather than on past. Strong similar-ities with Mentalization Based Therapy, mild and no correlations with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Classical Psychoanalysis respectively were found; towards adolescents therapists generaly display positive and protective countertransference responses. They less frequenlty show negative responses as overprotection, hostility or feeling of overwhelming. Conclusions: APQ and TRQ can provide meaningfull information about adolescent psychotherapy process. Instruments' improvement (i.e. reviewd items for APQ) and future perspectives are also discussed
How to Turn Your Knowledge Graph Embeddings into Generative Models
Some of the most successful knowledge graph embedding (KGE) models for link
prediction -- CP, RESCAL, TuckER, ComplEx -- can be interpreted as energy-based
models. Under this perspective they are not amenable for exact
maximum-likelihood estimation (MLE), sampling and struggle to integrate logical
constraints. This work re-interprets the score functions of these KGEs as
circuits -- constrained computational graphs allowing efficient
marginalisation. Then, we design two recipes to obtain efficient generative
circuit models by either restricting their activations to be non-negative or
squaring their outputs. Our interpretation comes with little or no loss of
performance for link prediction, while the circuits framework unlocks exact
learning by MLE, efficient sampling of new triples, and guarantee that logical
constraints are satisfied by design. Furthermore, our models scale more
gracefully than the original KGEs on graphs with millions of entities
Analysis of 3GM Callisto Gravity Experiment of the JUICE Mission
The ESA's JUICE mission will provide a thorough investigation of the Jupiter
system and the Galilean moons during its nominal tour, comprising flybys of
Europa and Callisto, and an orbital phase about Ganymede at the end of the
mission. The 3GM experiment will exploit accurate Doppler and range
measurements to determine the moons' orbits and gravity fields (both static and
tidal) and infer their interior structure. This paper presents the attainable
accuracies of the Callisto geodesy experiment and addresses the effect of
different flybys mean anomaly distribution and geometry on the estimation of
the tidal Love number k2.Comment: 2020 AAS/AIAA Astrodynamics Specialist Conference, Virtual Lake Taho
Optical behaviors, surface treatment, adhesion, and clinical indications of zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate (ZLS): A narrative review
Objectives: The present narrative review was focused on the optical properties, surface treatment, adhesion, and clinical indications of zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate ceramics (ZLS) for Computer-aided design / Computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technologies.
Data/sources: A literature search was performed by 3 calibrated independent researchers on PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Google Scholar, Dynamed, and Open Grey. The criteria for inclusion were: 1) papers addressing at least one of the following variables about ZLS: optical properties, surface treatment, adhesion, and clinical indications; 2) in vitro, in silico, or in vivo studies; 3) case reports; 4) systematic reviews. The exclusion criteria were: 1) animal studies; 2) non-dental studies; 3) studies only focusing on ZLS used in the heat-pressed process.
Study selection: 98 records among in vitro studies and case reports were included.
Conclusions: Despite the promising microstructure characteristics of ZLS, increased translucency compared to lithium disilicate ceramics (LS2) was not proven, but acceptable color changes and stability were reported. Mechanical polishing was the most effective method to reduce surface roughness. Moreover, machinability and handling of ZLS resulted harder than LS2. Conventional acid etching procedures seemed effective in conditioning ZLS surface, but no protocol has been established yet. Besides, silane-coupling and dual-curing resin cements were recommended.
Clinical significance: ZLSs can be used for anterior and posterior fixed single-unit CAD/CAM restorations onto both natural teeth and implants, but do not seem to represent a viable treatment option for endocrowns onto posterior teeth or fixed dental prostheses
