AMIRIS - Agent based model for the integration of renewables into the electricity markets

    Get PDF
The model AMIRIS allows the evaluation of political instruments and promotion mechanisms regarding their impact on actorsβ€˜ behaviours and development of the energy system. Actually the focus is set to energy economic changes due to the revised EGG 2012 and new possibilities of direct marketing of renewable electricity by Β§ 33g (Marketpremium - MP), Β§ 39 (Green electricity privilege) and local and regional direct marketing. Agents representing political framework, plant operators, intermediaries energy exchange market and distribution service operator are implemented in the model. Characteristics of the agents are based on beforehand performed analysis of actors. The poster shows the setup, simulation process and outcome of the AMIRIS model

The use of synchrony in parent-child interaction can be measured on a signal-level

    Get PDF
In our approach, we aim at an objective measurement of synchrony in multimodal tutoring behavior. The use of signal correlation provides a well formalized method that yields gradual information about the degree of synchrony. For our analysis, we used and extended an algorithm proposed by Hershey & Movellan (2000) that correlates single-pixel values of a video signal with the loudness of the corresponding audio track over time. The results of all pixels are integrated over the video to achieve a scalar estimate of synchrony

Psychological pressure in competitive environments: Evidence from a randomized natural experiment: Comment

Apesteguia and Palacios-Huerta (forthcoming) report for a sample of 129 shootouts from various seasons in ten different competitions that teams kicking first in soccer penalty shootouts win significantly more often than teams kicking second. Collecting data for the entire history of six major soccer competitions we cannot replicate their result. Teams kicking first win only 53.4% of 262 shootouts in our data, which is not significantly different from random. Our findings have two implications: (1) Apesteguia and Palacios-Huerta’s results are not generally robust. (2) Using specific subsamples without a coherent criterion for data selection might lead to non-representative findings

Hyperfine splitting in positronium to O(Ξ±7me){\cal O}(\alpha^7m_e): one-photon annihilation contribution

We present the complete result for the O(Ξ±7me){\cal O}(\alpha^7m_e) one-photon annihilation contribution to the hyperfine splitting of the ground state energy levels in positronium. Numerically it increases the prediction of quantum electrodynamics by 217Β±1217\pm 1 kHz.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure
