Data extracted from olive oil mill waste exposed to ambient conditions

Recent studies show that the process of extraction of olive oil results in a large amount of waste. Around 20% the oil is obtained in the process and the remaining 80% corresponds to mainly two types of waste, known as orujo and alperujo. These residues were stored in pools for 6 months in an uncontrolled environment. The reservoirs are open and generate Odorous Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) as products of waste decomposition. The data in this article corresponds of physical-chemical compounds of olive oil mill waste exposed to ambient conditions. The data was obtained from two different oil mills, namely, Almazara del Pacífico located in the Alto Pangue area, Talca, Chile; and Agricola y Forestal Don Rafael oil mill, Molina, Chile. Samples were extracted directly from the oil mills to fill 200 L plastic containers that simulated the waste storage in oil mill reservoirs. Each sample was identified and standardized to a mass of 150 kg and moved and stored under uncontrolled ambient conditions at the Universidad de Talca, Curicó, Chile

Propuesta de un entorno WEB para el análisis de contenidos de estadística descriptiva adaptando la transposición didáctica

Hoy en día se han desarrollado aplicaciones, sitios y entornos web sin que se guíen de una técnica didáctica para hacer eficiente el aprendizaje. En esta investigación se propone la elaboración de un entorno web donde los contenidos temáticos sobre el tema de estadística descriptiva son diseñados siguiendo la Teoría Antropológica de la Didáctica (TAD), mediante el uso del proceso del modelado matemático que incorpora aspectos físicos del mundo real y características de aprendizaje del usuario para cada persona, pueda resolver problemas en situaciones reales. Con la implementación de esta didáctica dentro del entorno se pretende apoyar a los alumnos de licenciatura en sus primeros años en el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje de la estadística descriptiva. Por otro lado, se incorporó para el diseño instruccional del entorno educativo el modelo ADDIE y para el entorno la metodología Scrum, que permite evaluar cada fase de desarrollo interactivo del entorno web aportando al desarrollador la posibilidad de regreso a cualquier fase

Software de registro para experimentos bidimensionales realizados en una mesa de suspensión de aire

This work is aimed to document the replacement the expensive registering metallized paper used by the table with air cushion Leybold Didactic GMBH to record the movement and collisions of two particles on a two dimensional surface. Those experiments use two cylinders that move on the table with minimal friction due to air cushion produced by themselves, which allows them to move almost without friction on the glass surface. The research work involves the design of image processing software in which an algorithm has to acquire, process and record the trajectory of two cylinders that move on the table with minimal friction is developed. For implement this, a study of the experiments carried out on the table and displayed on the registering metallized paper is made. Based on the results this digital tool is design to replace the paper and allow the academic community to use this table sustainably and without relying on costly inputs. Additionally it was analyzed the error obtained due to the pass of images through the algorithm, resulting just a 3% of total error than respect to using real paper.El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo documentar la sustitución del costoso papel metálico utilizado por la mesa con el cojín de aire Leybold Didactic GMBH – donde se registra el movimiento y las colisiones de dos partículas en una superficie bidimensional. Tales experimentos emplean dos cilindros que se mueven sobre la mesa con una fricción mínima debido al cojín de aire producido por ellos mismos, lo que les permite moverse casi sin fricción sobre la superficie del vidrio. La investigación descrita condujo al diseño de un software de procesamiento de imágenes en el que se desarrolla un algoritmo para adquirir, procesar y registrar la trayectoria de dos cilindros que se mueven sobre la mesa con un mínimo de fricción. Para llevar a cabo esto se realiza un estudio de los experimentos hechos sobre la mesa y mostrados en el papel metalizado de registro. Basándose en los resultados, esta herramienta digital está diseñada para reemplazar el papel y permite a la comunidad académica utilizar esta tabla de manera sostenible y sin depender de insumos costosos. Adicionalmente, se analizó el error obtenido debido al paso de imágenes a través del algoritmo, resultando sólo un 3% del error total con respecto al obtenido usando el papel real

Nonempirical (double‐hybrid) density functionals applied to atomic excitation energies: A systematic basis set investigation

We investigate here the lowest‐energy (spin‐conserving) excitation energies for the set of He‐Ne atoms, with the family of nonempirical PBE, PBE0, PBE0‐1/3, PBE0‐DH, PBE‐CIDH, PBE‐QIDH, and PBE0‐2 functionals, after employing a wide variety of basis sets systematically approaching the basis set limit: def2‐nVP(D), cc‐pVnZ, aug‐cc‐pVnZ, and d‐aug‐cc‐pVnZ. We find that an accuracy (ie, mean unsigned error) of 0.3 to 0.4 eV for time‐dependent density functional theory (DFT) atomic excitation energies can be robustly achieved with modern double‐hybrid methods, which are also stable with respect to the addition of a double set of diffuse functions, contrarily to hybrid versions, in agreement with recent findings employing sophisticated multiconfigurational DFT methods.L.H.M. acknowledges the “Instituto Universitario de Materiales (IUMA)” for a research internship. Cellular systems have experienced in recent years, significant changes in technology, services, competitiveness, and cost. These changes have become more visible, and therefore closer to users, with the emergence—in the mid-nineties of the twentieth century—from technologies supported wireless standard protocols, as a replacement for cable connections between products electronics. This article thoroughly examines theoretical and practical aspects of Bluetooth technology as a basis for designing a cellular network for voice and data, systematically considering the needs of capacity, coverage, power levels, quality standards and interconnectivity to the network public switched telephone (PSTN) as well as VoIP service.Los sistemas celulares han experimentado en los últimos años cambios significativos en lo relativo a tecnología, servicios, competitividad y costos. Estos cambios se han hecho más visibles y, por tanto, más cercanos a los usuarios, ante la aparición, a mediados de la década del noventa del sigloXX, de tecnologías soportadas en protocolos estandarizados inalámbricos, como reemplazo para las conexiones de cable entre productos electrónicos. The importance of public education for impelling social development in El Salvador

The essay is argumentative since it will take a stand based on the information recollected and presents arguments related to the historical and current situation of Public Education in El Salvador. As started in the Constitution of El Salvador education for everyone is a necessity and a right (Art. 56 of the Constitution, Republic of El Salvador). This law article states that every citizen of El Salvador has the right to have access to education for free. In fact, even though education is a right up to secondary education, not everybody has access to it. Governments have the mission of offering public education for people in general. On this regard, different organizations like UNESCO support Latin-American governments in order to have a high level of literate people. In this purpose, universities are important institutions to form professionals who contribute to impel development in their countries, since education encourages them to be productive. Thus Public education must include everyone to contribute in the development of El Salvador

Finally a comparison between this type of digital filters is made, with the help of computational tool MATLAB.En este artículo se presenta el diseño de filtros FIR mediante el método de las ventanas, el diseño de filtros IIR mediante la transformación bilineal y la implementación mediante la programación directa, estandar y escalera. Intensive Habitat Loss in South Spain: Arborescent Scrubs with <em>Ziziphus</em> (5220*)

The habitat arborescent matorral with Ziziphus (5220*) was included in the Habitats Directive of the European Commission. These plant formations represent the maximum potential vegetation in a very restrictive arid environment, since it encompasses endemic, tropical, or Maghrebian floristic elements, and from other areas of the ancient Thetis Sea. In fact, the version of this community with Gymnosporia senegalensis (Lam.) Loes. [=Maytenus senegalensis (Lam.) Exell] constitutes extraordinarily singular flora formations in the Iberian southeast. These are unique communities in Europe and ecologically extremely valuable and, however, have been included among the Europe’s most endangered habitats. The vast economic development experienced in South Spain based on the remarkable transformation of traditional farming patterns into a highly profitable agriculture that uses industrial production methods and the groundwater intensively (agriculture intensification and land-use change), in addition to urbanization without sustainable land planning, determines that European G. senegalensis populations are seriously threatened by severe habitat destruction and fragmentation

Sobre el grado de aceptación de la teoría evolutiva de los alumnos de Enseñanza Secundaria Obligatoria

La Teoría de la Evolución (TE) es una teoría unificadora en la Biología y su comprensión es fundamental para entender la naturaleza y nuestro lugar en ella. En este trabajo se ha evaluado si 137 alumnos de Enseñanza Secundaria Obligatoria (E.S.O.) en Almería aceptan la TE. Para esto se ha utilizado el cuestionario MATE y los datos han sido analizados mediante una prueba t de Student. De esta manera se pudo concluir que los alumnos de cursos superiores presentan un mayor grado de aceptación de la TE. Por otra parte, aquellos con una orientación científica tuvieron una aceptación muy alta si los comparamos con los que tenían una orientación de ciencias sociales cuya aceptación fue moderada. Los alumnos cuyo padre tiene una formación superior, mostraron también un mayor grado de aceptación de la TE, mientras que en el caso de la madre la diferencia no llegó a ser significativa
