A Practical Example for Model-Driven Web Requirements
The number of approaches for Web environments has grown very fast
in the last years: HDM, OOHDM, and WSDM were among the first, and now a
large number can be found in the literature. With the definition of MDA (Model-
Driven Architecture) and the acceptance of MDE (Model-Driven Engineering)
techniques in this environment, some groups are working in the use of metamodels
and transformations to make their approaches more powerful. UWE (UMLBased
Web Engineering) or OOWS (Object-Oriented Web Solutions) are only
some examples. However, there are few real experiences with Web Engineering in
the enterprise environment, and very few real applications of metamodels and
MDE techniques. In this chapter the practical experience of a Web Engineering
approach, NDT, in a big project developed in Andalusia is presented. Besides, it
shows the usability of metamodels in real environments
A Practical Environment to Apply Model-Driven Web Engineering
The application of a model-driven paradigm in the development of Web Systems has yielded very good research
results. Several research groups are defining metamodels, transformations, and tools which offer a suitable environment,
known as model-driven Web engineering (MDWE). However, there are very few practical experiences in real
Web system developments using real development teams. This chapter presents a practical environment of MDWE
based on the use of NDT (navigational development techniques) and Java Web systems, and it provides a practical
evaluation of its application within a real project: specialized Diraya.Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2007-67843-C06-03Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia TIN2007-30391-

Metavolcanic rocks from schistose domain of Galicia-Tras-os-Montes: petrography, geochemistry and tectonic environment (Galice, NW. Spain)
The Vulcanism interbedded in the lower litostratigraphic groups of the DEGTM
is studied. Those gruoups are known as Santabaia, Nogueira and Paraño from bo~tom to top; The sequence is completed with the Lalín-Forcarei group that is not studied in this paper. The age of the whole sequence is probably, from Precambrian to lower Devonian. The three groups show volcano-sedimentary features which are dominant in the Santabaia group. Several volcanic and volcano-sedimentary levels with different thickness and extension are found; these correspond to two mica microporfidic gneisses and biotitic ortogneisses and seldom ryolites and trachites in the uppermost pan of the Paraño group. Geochemically correspond to acid calcoalcaline vulcanites with ryolites and K rich ryodacites as main types. These rocks are possibily related to an external area of a continental margin which existed during Ordovician-Silurian time in the NW of the Iberian Peninsula. Several volcanic stages would alternate with sedimentation in this geotectonic environment
Crtc1 activates a transcriptional program deregulated at early Alzheimer's disease-related stages
Cognitive decline is associated with gene expression changes in the brain, but the transcriptional mechanisms underlying memory impairments in cognitive disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), are largely unknown. Here, we aimed to elucidate relevant mechanisms responsible for transcriptional changes underlying early memory loss in AD by examining pathological, behavioral, and transcriptomic changes in control and mutant β-amyloid precursor protein (APPSw,Ind) transgenic mice during aging. Genome-wide transcriptome analysis using mouse microarrays revealed deregulation of a gene network related with neurotransmission, synaptic plasticity, and learning/memory in the hippocampus of APPSw,Ind mice after spatial memory training. Specifically, APPSw,Ind mice show changes on a cAMP-responsive element binding protein (CREB)-regulated transcriptional program dependent on the CREB-regulated transcription coactivator-1 (Crtc1). Interestingly, synaptic activity and spatial memory induces Crtc1 dephosphorylation (Ser151), nuclear translocation, and Crtc1-dependent transcription in the hippocampus, and these events are impaired in APPSw,Ind mice at early pathological and cognitive decline stages. CRTC1-dependent genes and CRTC1 levels are reduced in human hippocampus at intermediate Braak III/IV pathological stages. Importantly, adeno-associated viral-mediated Crtc1 overexpression in the hippocampus efficiently reverses Aβ-induced spatial learning and memory deficits by restoring a specific subset of Crtc1 target genes. Our results reveal a critical role of Crtc1-dependent transcription on spatial memory formation and provide the first evidence that targeting brain transcriptome reverses memory loss in AD

Human-vehicle interaction for autonomous vehicles in crosswalk scenarios: Field experiments with pedestrians and passengers
This paper presents the results of real-world testing of human-vehicle
interactions with an autonomous vehicle equipped with internal and external
Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) in a crosswalk scenario. The internal and
external HMIs were combined with implicit communication techniques using gentle
and aggressive braking maneuvers in the crosswalk. Results have been collected
in the form of questionnaires and measurable variables such as distance or
speed when the pedestrian decides to cross. The questionnaires show that
pedestrians feel safer when the external HMI or the gentle braking maneuver is
used interchangeably, while the measured variables show that external HMI only
helps in combination with the gentle braking maneuver. The questionnaires also
show that internal HMI only improves passenger confidence in combination with
the aggressive braking maneuver.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures, 4 tables, conferecence pape
Group and call effect in achieving success in a subject: Analyses of the "Biology and Botany" whole life in the E.U.I.T.A. (University of Seville)
(Escuela
Biology and Botany are two critical issues in the formation of a technical
agricultural engineer. Their topics are sometimes offered in separate subjects
and, at other times as here, within a single one. Besides, it has always been
considered with interest, and even concern, the effect of the variable group,
independently or in relation to their distribution in the morning or afternoon
turns, and the importance of the call (at different times during the academic year)
at which the student gets to pass the subject.
Here we present the results in the achievement of objectives by students, and
therefore teachers and the University of Seville, along the entire life of the
subject "Biology and Botany" within the teaching 2003/04 plan for three
simultaneous academic programs, from its start in the course 2003/04 to its
extinction in the course 2009/10, in the E.U.I.T.A. (University School of
Technical Agricultural Engineering) of the University of Seville. Calls belonging
to the period of extinction are also considered. Analyses are both qualitative,
based on having success in passing the subject or not, and quantitative (mark
scored).
Obtained conclusions let us see the results and the achievement of objectives,
as well as a potential decision-making for the future, with a base on a
comprehensive and objective frame
Measurement of the cosmic ray spectrum above eV using inclined events detected with the Pierre Auger Observatory
A measurement of the cosmic-ray spectrum for energies exceeding
eV is presented, which is based on the analysis of showers
with zenith angles greater than detected with the Pierre Auger
Observatory between 1 January 2004 and 31 December 2013. The measured spectrum
confirms a flux suppression at the highest energies. Above
eV, the "ankle", the flux can be described by a power law with
index followed by
a smooth suppression region. For the energy () at which the
spectral flux has fallen to one-half of its extrapolated value in the absence
of suppression, we find
eV.Comment: Replaced with published version. Added journal reference and DO
