Therapeutic activities towards sex offenders in prison
dynamika procesu grupowego i trudności w obiektywizacji efektów zastosowanej terapii.
oddziaływań terapeutycznych i resocjalizacyjnych jeszcze w czasie pobytu w zakładzie karnym. The authors of the article present the implementation of their own therapeutic programme addressed to
child sexual offenders serving a sentence in Rawicz Prison. Main theoretical assumptions of the programme
based on behavioural and cognitive paradigm and social learning theory, also specific factors of sexual
offences risk have been described.
Phenomena important for the course of the therapy indicated by experience include social attitude towards
sexual offenders, significance of selection criteria for meetings participants and context of induced impact,
motivation to treat offenders, dynamics of a group process and difficulties resulting from the objectivisation
of effects of the therapy employed.
Abstinence from deviant behaviours, violating legal norms, while being imprisoned, is obligatory, which
narrows down the evaluation and analysis of conscious control of behaviour. Due to such reasons, attention
is drawn to the significance of the identification and analysis of indirect indices of effectiveness of therapeutic
and rehabilitation impact
On crossed product of algebras
The concept of a crossed tensor product of algebras is studied from a few
points of views. Some related constructions are considered. Crossed enveloping
algebras and their representations are discussed. Applications to the
noncommutative geometry and particle systems with generalized statistics are
indicated.Comment: 20 pages, latex2e (latexsym), no figures, accepted for publication in

A derivative of vitamin B3 applied several days after exposure reduces lethality of severely irradiated mice
Most, if not all, of the hitherto tested substances exert more or less pronounced pro-survival effects when applied before or immediately after the exposure to high doses of ionizing radiation. In the present study we demonstrate for the first time that 1-methyl nicotinamide (MNA), a derivative of vitamin B3, significantly (1.6 to 1.9 times) prolonged survival of BALB/c mice irradiated at LD30/30 (6.5 Gy), LD50/30 (7.0 Gy) or LD80/30 (7.5 Gy) of γ-rays when the MNA administration started as late as 7 days post irradiation. A slightly less efficient and only after the highest dose (7.5 Gy) of γ-rays was another vitamin B3 derivative, 1-methyl-3-acetylpyridine (1,3-MAP) (1.4-fold prolonged survival). These pro-survival effects did not seem to be mediated by stimulation of haematopoiesis, but might be related to anti-inflammatory and/or anti-thrombotic properties of the vitamin B3 derivatives. Our results show that MNA may represent a prototype of a radioremedial agent capable of mitigating the severity and/or progression of radiation-induced injuries when applied several hours or days after exposure to high doses of ionizing radiation
Dimer radical cations of indole and indole-3-carbinol: localized and delocalized radical cations of diindolylmethane
Extending our previous study on the title species (J. Phys. Chem. A2010, 114, 6787), we investigated the dimer cations that are formed on oxidation of the glucobrassin derivatives indole-3-carbinol (I3C) and diindolylmethane (DIM) and of parent indole (I). Radiolysis in ionic liquid and Ar matrices shows that, at sufficiently high concentrations and/or on annealing the solid glasses, intense intermolecular charge-resonance (CR) absorption bands in the NIR herald the formation of sandwich-type dimer cations. The molecular and electronic structure of these species is modeled by calculations with the double-hybrid B2-PLYP-D density functional method which yields predictions in good accord with experiment. The radical cation of DIM also shows a CR band, but unlike in the case of I and I3C, its occurrence is not dependent on the concentration but instead on the solvent: in ionic liquid the CR band is initially absent and arises only on annealing, whereas in Ar matrices it is present from the outset and undergoes blue shifting and sharpening on annealing. These puzzling findings are rationalized on the basis of B2-PLYP-D calculations which predict that neutral DIM exists in the form of two conformers, present in different relative amounts in the two experiments, which on vertical ionization form distinct radical cations, a nonsymmetric one where the odd electron is largely localized on one of the two indole moieties and one with C₂ symmetry where charge and spin are completely delocalized over both halves of the molecule, thus giving rise to an intramolecular CR transition. On annealing, the nonsymmetric cation relaxes to a similarly delocalized structure with Cs symmetry, thus explaining the observed increase and the shift of the CR band. We believe that DIM•+ represents the first example of a radical cation which can exist under the same conditions as a localized and a delocalized complex cation
Mechanistic aspects of alloxan diabetogenic activity: a key role of keto-enol inversion of dialuric acid on ionization
The inversion of the keto-enol stability order of dialuric acid on ionization was calculated and verified experimentally. The radical cations in both forms were characterized. The spectrum of the keto form was observed upon direct ionization of dialuric acid under matrix conditions, whereas the enol form was formed upon a sequential electron-proton-proton attachment to alloxan under acidic aqueous condition. Facilitation of the one-electron oxidation of dialuric acid upon its enolization can result in a more effective formation of superoxide radical anion in the process of its auto-oxidation. This process is discussed in reference to the alloxan diabetogenic action. Both neutral keto and enol forms are energetically close, and under favorable conditions, the auto-oxidation of dialuric acid could involve participation of the enol form
Cartan Pairs
A new notion of Cartan pairs as a substitute of notion of vector fields in
noncommutative geometry is proposed. The correspondence between Cartan pairs

The effects of 1,4-dimethylpyridine in metastatic prostate cancer in mice
BACKGROUND: We previously showed that 1-methylnicotinamide (1-MNA) and its analog 1,4-dimethylpyridine (1,4-DMP) could inhibit the formation of lung metastases and enhance the efficacy of cyclophosphamide-based chemotherapy in the model of spontaneously metastasizing 4T1 mouse mammary gland tumors. In the present study, we aimed to investigate whether the previously observed activity of pyridine compounds pertains also to the prevention and the treatment of metastatic prostate tumors, in a combined chemotherapy with docetaxel. METHODS: Cancer-preventing activity of 1,4-DMP was studied in the model of prostate tumors spontaneously arising in C57BL/6-Tg (TRAMP)8247Ng/J (TRAMP) mice. The efficacy of the combined chemotherapy, comprising simultaneous use of 1,4-DMP and docetaxel, was evaluated in the orthotopic mouse model of human PC-3M-luc2 prostate cancer. The toxicity of the applied treatment was also determined. RESULTS: The development of prostate tumors in TRAMP mice remained unaffected after administration of 1,4-DMP. Similarly, no effect of 1,4-DMP was found on the growth of orthotopically transplanted PC-3M-luc2 tumors. However, when 1,4-DMP was administered along with docetaxel, it enhanced the anticancer activity of the chemotherapy. As a result, in PC-3M-luc2-bearing mice statistically significant inhibition of the tumor growth and lower metastases incidence were observed. The decreased metastatic yield is probably related to the diminished platelet activity observed in mice treated with combined therapeutic regimen. Finally, the combined treatment exhibited lowered side effects accompanying docetaxel administration. CONCLUSIONS: Results presented herein confirm previously published data on the anticancer activity of pyridine compounds and demonstrate that 1,4-DMP may be beneficially implemented into chemotherapy utilizing various cytotoxic agents, directed against multiple metastatic tumor types. Psychosexual immaturity as a diagnostic term
w ICD-10 i DSM-IV-TR.
w praktyce klinicznej. By zwiększyć trafność stosowania tego terminu, należy dokonać jego operacjonalizacji
i tym samym umożliwić wprowadzenie do klasyfikacji zaburzeń nowej kategorii diagnostycznej. Celem
rozwojowym, funkcjonalnym i objawowym.
Seksuologia Polska 2011; 9 (1): 38–42Psychosexual immaturity is commonly understood as developmental disorder, and inability to correct fulfilling
of sexual role is thought for its essence. Therefore it is particular form of sex role disorder. The term
“psychosexual immaturity” doesn’t occur as a diagnostic category in ICD-10 and DSM-IV-TR. Despite this it
is commonly used in professional literature and clinical practice. To improve the accuracy of application of
this term it is necessary to operationalize it and, therefore, put a new diagnostic category into the classification
of disorders. The aim of this paper is to suggest particulars indicators of so understood psychosexual
immaturity. It has been made on different three levels, by using three different criteria: developmental, functional
and symptomatic.
