Planning clil units in primary education from a cognitive perspective

The Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach has experienced a considerable growth and it is being progressively integrated into curricula all across Europe. It is a dual educational approach in which content and language must be combined. This approach introduces a new cognitive dimension which is missing in other language learning approaches by the addition of a new competence: using the language to learn. This study intends to analyze a lesson planning process of a CLIL Primary School Science lesson at a Spanish state school focusing on the cognitive dimension of the learning process of both Science content and foreign language skills. La poética de las relaciones de sucesos tremendistas en pliegos sueltos poéticos (siglo XVI) : construcción y reelaboración

A través de varios ejemplos pretendemos ofrecer una visión de los procesos de construcción y reelaboración que realizan los copleros populares a la hora de redactar y componer los llamados casos horribles y espantosos. Existe una clara intención y voluntad artísticas por parte de estos autores y, de este modo, aprovecharán todos sus conocimientos y se valdrán de todos los materiales que dispongan a su alcance a la hora de componer sus obras. Nada quedará en manos de la improvisación y de ahí que encontremos un modelo compositivo propio que vertebra siempre todas estas piezas.__________________________________Through several examples I intend to offer a vision of the construction and reconstruction processes performed by traditional poets ("copleros populares") when writing and composing about horrifing and shocking events ("casos horribles y espantosos"). There is a clear artistic intention in these authors, who build on their knowledge and craftmanship to grasp all the materials at hand. Nothing is left on the side of improvisation, and therefore it is possible to find a clear compositional model behind all of these pieces

How Bees Respond Differently to Field Margins of Shrubby and Herbaceous Plants in Intensive Agricultural Crops of the Mediterranean Area

(1) Intensive agriculture has a high impact on pollinating insects, and conservation strategies targeting agricultural landscapes may greatly contribute to their maintenance. The aim of this work was to quantify the effect that the vegetation of crop margins, with either herbaceous or shrubby plants, had on the abundance and diversity of bees in comparison to non-restored margins. (2) The work was carried out in an area of intensive agriculture in southern Spain. Bees were monitored visually and using pan traps, and floral resources were quantified in crop margins for two years. (3) An increase in the abundance and diversity of wild bees in restored margins was registered, compared to non-restored margins. Significant differences in the structure of bee communities were found between shrubby and herbaceous margins. Apis mellifera and mining bees were found to be more polylectic than wild Apidae and Megachilidae. The abundance of A. mellifera and mining bees was correlated to the total floral resources, in particular, to those offered by the Boraginaceae and Brassicaceae; wild Apidae and Megachilidae were associated with the Lamiaceae. (4) This work emphasises the importance of floral diversity and shrubby plants for the maintenance of rich bee communities in Mediterranean agricultural landscapes

Комплексная эколого-геохимическая оценка буровых шламов нефтяных месторождений на примере объектов Томской области

Объектом исследования является буровой шлам нефтяных месторождений Томской области. Целью данной работы являлось изучение особенностей состава буровых шламов нефтяных месторождений Томской области; проведение комплексной оценки экологической опасности отходов на основе химических, минералогических (с использованием рентгеноструктурного анализа и электронной микроскопии), физических анализов и методов биотестирования. В результате исследования были получены данные о элементном, минеральном, химическом составе и интегральной токсичности исследуемых буровых шламов, дана комплексная эколого-геохимическая оценка буровым шламам.The object of the study is the drill cuttings of oil fields in the Tomsk region. The purpose of this work was to study the features of the composition of drill cuttings of oil fields in the Tomsk region, carrying out an integrated assessment of the ecological hazard of wastes on the basis of chemical, mineralogical (using X-ray diffraction analysis and electron microscopy), physical analyzes and methods of biotesting. As a result of the study, were obtained on the elemental, mineral, chemical composition and integrated toxicity of the drill cuttings studied, and a comprehensive ecological and geochemical evaluation of drill cuttings was given

Puntos de corte para el acoso psicológico en el trabajo: el cuestionario breve de actos negativos (S-NAQ) en español

Antecedentes: el acoso psicológico en el trabajo es un estresor laboral severo de origen social. Sin embargo, en el contexto español, hay escasez de medidas que nos permitan diagnosticar de forma fiable si una persona está siendo objeto de acoso. Método: se informa de las propiedades psicométricas, la estructura factorial y los puntos de corte del Cuestionario Breve de Actos Negativos (S-NAQ) en una muestra española (N = 1.409). Resultados: el S-NAQ presenta unas buenas propiedades psicométricas. Los análisis factoriales exploratorios y confirmatorios revelan que la escala tiene una única dimensión. Los datos de las curvas ROC indican dos puntos de corte que nos permiten categorizar a las personas como “no expuestas a conductas de acoso” (puntuaciones menores de 15), “en riesgo de ser acosadas” (puntuaciones entre 15 y 22), o “víctimas de acoso” (puntuaciones mayores de 22). Conclusiones: estos puntos de corte pueden facilitar el diagnóstico de acoso y servir para diseñar intervenciones según cada categoría.Background: Workplace bullying is considered a major social stressor at work. However, in the Spanish context, there is a lack of measures that allow researchers and practitioners to distinguish between non-targets and targets of workplace bullying. Method: This study reports the psychometric properties, factor structure, and cutoff scores for the Short-Negative Acts Questionnaire (S-NAQ) in a Spanish sample (N = 1,409). Results: The S-NAQ demonstrated adequate psychometric properties. Moreover, both Exploratory and Confi rmatory Factor Analysis revealed that a unifactorial model of workplace bullying fi t the data best. Two cutoff points for the S-NAQ were formulated using receiver operating characteristic curves to categorize respondents as “not exposed to workplace bullying” (scores below 15), “at risk of being bullied” (scores between 15 and 22), and “targets of workplace bullying” (scores above 22). Na+-dependent NO3- uptake in leaf cells of the seagrass Posidonia oceanica (L.) Delile

Posidonia oceanica (L.) Delile is an endemic Mediterranean seagrass of recognized ecological significance and, as other seagrasses, this species has secondarily adapted to live in the marine environment. In this alkaline medium with a high Na+ concentration (0.5 M), the high inwardly directed electrochemical potential gradient for sodium is used in the seagrass Zostera marina to energize the uptake of nitrate1 and phosphate that usually occur at concentration below 10 µM. Here we summarize several evidences for the operation of a sodium-dependent high-affinity nitrate transport system at the plasma membrane of the mesophyll leaf cells of P. oceanica. Leaf cells of P. oceanica possess a H+-ATPase as a primary pump, exhibit a plasma membrane potential (Em) of -174 ± 10 mV and show reduced Na+ permeability. The addition of micromolar nitrate concentrations induces membrane depolarizations that show saturation kinetics. Curve fitting of the values renders a semisaturation constant (Km) of 21.3 ± 6.6 μM and a maximum depolarization (Dmax) of 7 ± 1 mV. In dark conditions, Dmax decreases by fifty percent but no significant effect is observed on the Km value. On the other hand, nitrate induced depolarizations show sodium dependence. The depolarizations induced by 100 µM NO3- in media containing increasing Na+ concentrations (from 0 to 250 mM) show saturation kinetics, rendering a Km value of 16 ± 5 mM Na+. Moreover, the depolarization induced by 100 µM NO3- is accompanied by a simultaneous increase of cytosolic sodium, measured by Na+-sensitive microelectrodes, of 0.4 ± 0.2 mM above the resting cytosolic sodium concentration (17 ± 2 mM). Finally, nitrate uptake rates, measured in depletion experiments, decreases by 50% and 80% in dark conditions and in the absence of Na+, respectively, compared with control conditions (0.5 M Na+ and light). All together, these results strongly suggest that NO3- uptake in P. oceanica leaf cells is mediated by a high-affinity nitrate carrier that uses Na+ as the driving ion. 1 Rubio et al. (2005). J. Exp. Atención a la e-accesibilidad y usabilidad universal en el diseño formativo

Nuevas políticas avalan la importancia de la accesibilidad Web, y fomentan que los entornos, productos y servicios puedan ser practicables y la posibilidad de ser utilizados para lo que han sido concebidos. La cuestión es qué se debe hacer para empezar de forma diferente a alcanzar la accesibilidad educativa. A nivel tecnológico, tanto software como hardware especializados en ayudas técnicas, se están llevando a cabo numerosas propuestas por parte de las Administraciones Públicas y otras organizaciones privadas. Sin embargo, no se puede olvidar la oportunidad de la educación a distancia a través del e-learning. La Accesibilidad Universal debe llegar a este nivel de integración del usuario en el campo de la formación a distancia a través de las Nuevas Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación. La finalidad de este artículo es desarrollar una base de datos común a nivel internacional, que cubra la carencia de investigación educativa en el campo de la e-accesibilidad y que proporcione a los docentes una fuente de recursos para la creación de materiales didácticos flexibles para entornos de educación en red (e-learning) que promuevan la integración de las personas discapacitadas, específicamente en el ámbito académico.New policies support the importance of Web accessibility, and promote the environment, products and services can be practical and can be used for what they are designed. Sexuality as an important variable in the quality of life (QOL) of people with disability

La afectividad y la sexualidad se han de desarrollar adecuadamente en los individuos aunque no estén en plenas condiciones físicas y psíquicas, indiferentemente si residen en su domicilio o en un centro especializado. La atención a la discapacidad no siempre ha estado ligada al concepto de cuidados de enfermería, pero en la actualidad se considera indispensable hacerlo desde la defensa de los derechos de las personas con Diversidad Funcional (D.F.), ratificados en la Convención de Ginebra de 2008. En este trabajo se presentan datos que forma parte de una tesis doctoral en la que se estudia las alteraciones de la sexualidad en personas con D.F. y como ésta influye en su calidad de vida (CV); Planteado desde el marco enfermero de los Patrones Funcionales de Marjory Gordon, por visualizar los procesos vitales siempre desde una visión integral de salud, guiando de forma lógica al diagnóstico enfermero, contemplando al paciente desde una visión holística y recogiendo toda la información necesaria del paciente, familia y entorno incluyendo su sexualidad

A financial analysis of born-global firms: evidence from Spain

From the beginning of the 1970s to the present day, significant changes have taken place in the competitive and organizational behavior of small and medium-sized companies (SMEs). Recently, some of these factors have applied more intensively, and this has given rise to growth in the number of new companies that undertake overseas operations almost immediately (known as born globals). The phenomenon of early internationalization is relatively recent, so there are still many aspects that need to be studied. The objective of this study is to contribute to the scarce empirical literature existing in Spain on this topic, by providing evidence on the possible differences in character of the born-global firms compared with the rest of exporting companies. To this end, the focus of the study is on the analysis of variables such as the size and sector of activity of these companies, and their principal economic and financial magnitudes. A sample of 1,324 Spanish SMEs that were exporting in 2007 was surveyed; of this total approximately 12% identified themselves as having adopted early internationalization. The results obtained indicate that the born-global firms are, on average, smaller; they are classified mostly to the services sector; and they are much more leveraged than the rest of Spanish SMEs that export
