Beyond the Narrative Visualization of Infographics on European Issues
The dynamic structure of infographics implies users’ interactivity and engagement. The ‘Debating Europe’ platform, launched in 2011 and focused on a ‘bottom-up’ approach, has been using infograhics in order “to illustrate key factors and to help explain complicated issues in an easily accessible way” (Debating Europe-Snapshot Report, 2014). Drawing on the infographics posted on the ‘Debating Europe’ platform, this study empirically explores the discourse-level of these visual images. We will consider infographics on European issues as visual-verbal texts that are socially constructed by the European Union to send its messages to EU citizens. Having social semiotics and appraisal theory as theoretical background, we will provide an insight into the potential navigation paths (information values, salience and framing) beyond these European infographics and into the use of the visual and verbal semiotic resources in the infographics on European issues
Inhaled dry salt micro particles in the treatment of bronchopulmonary dysplasia: a five case series report
Background. Despite current medical advances,
to this day there is no single medical
intervention to effectively prevent or
treat bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD)
in both preterm and term infants. Along
with protective ventilation strategies, various
drugs are being used or are being researched
at this very moment, with the sole
purpose of improving the general outcome
for these patients. Inhaled dry salt micro
particles therapy is now one of them.
Materials and methods. This report presents
five patients, diagnosed with severe
BPD. All of them received, complementary
to classical BPD management and
respiratory support, continuous inhaled
dry salt micro particles, via SaltMed cartridges,
for a period of 12 to 30 days. After
only 24 hours of administration, we were
able to observe a significant improvement
in respiratory function and dynamics. It
was possible to use a lower fraction of inspired
oxygen (FiO2), mean airway pressure
(MAP) and peak inspiratory pressure
(PIP) in all mechanically ventilated patients.
Higher tidal volumes were recorded
and we observed improvement in oxygenation
indexes.
Conclusion. Continuously inhaled dry salt
micro particles, administered complementary
to classic BPD management, could
improve respiratory and overall morbidity
and mortality in infants with any form
of BPD. Further study of these possible
effects is needed, as there is no data published
on this matter so far
Regulation of TRPM8 channel activity by Src-mediated tyrosine phosphorylation
The transient receptor potential melastatin type 8 (TRPM8) receptor channel is expressed in primary afferent neurons where it is the main transducer of innocuous cold temperatures and also in a variety of tumors, where it is involved in progression and metastasis. Modulation of this channel by intracellular signaling pathways has therefore important clinical implications. We investigated the modulation of recombinant and natively expressed TRPM8 by the Src kinase, which is known to be involved in cancer pathophysiology and inflammation. Human TRPM8 expressed in HEK293T cells is constitutively tyrosine phosphorylated by Src which is expressed either heterologously or endogenously. Src action on TRPM8 potentiates its activity, as treatment with PP2, a selective Src kinase inhibitor, reduces both TRPM8 tyrosine phosphorylation and cold‐induced channel activation. RNA interference directed against the Src kinase diminished the extent of PP2‐induced functional downregulation of TRPM8, confirming that PP2 acts mainly through Src inhibition. Finally, the effect of PP2 on TRPM8 cold activation was reproduced in cultured rat dorsal root ganglion neurons, and this action was antagonized by the protein tyrosine phosphatase inhibitor pervanadate, confirming that TRPM8 activity is sensitive to the cellular balance between tyrosine kinases and phosphatases. This positive modulation of TRPM8 by Src kinase may be relevant for inflammatory pain and cancer signaling
Research and Science Today No. 1(5)/2013
Research and Science Today Journal is a publication founded in 2011 and it is dedicated to the students of all levels (license, master and doctoral) of faculties in the country and abroad. We want to offer the participants the opportunity to present their scientific works in the following areas: Social Sciences, Economic Sciences, Legal Sciences, Humanities, Education Sciences, Engineering, Medicine and Sport.
This journal provides students the opportunity to create and/or to improve their abilities to write scientific papers. So each appearance (two appearances per year at which we can add supplements) contains a number of papers written by students, masters and doctoral from the faculties from the country or/and abroad. The journal promotes original studies contributing to the progress of knowledge and it is motivated by the need to address issues of theory and practice in the areas mentioned above

Analysis of sheep and goat milk production by development regions and forms of property in the period 2010-2018
This paper proposes the analysis of forms of ownership (total, private sector, individual farms), for the eight development regions for sheep and goat milk. This paper is based on the analysis of statistical data from a quantitative and qualitative point of view, highlighting the contribution of each development region and the evolution of sheep and goat milk production in the period 2010-2018. At the end, a comparison will be made with the level of production depending on the change of ownership structure, in order to determine the correct sample according to its ownership form. Given the importance of milk both as a product in human nutrition and the role it plays in the economies of EU member states, the milk and dairy market has been and is one of the common markets, which has been dealt with extensively by regulations. it could become a globally competitive market
Study regarding the size and profile of farm holdings
Agricultural land and other agricultural production resources are distributed on farms of different types and shapes. They also differ in the size of the resources held, with special reference to the area and / or the number of animals. The production results depend, of course, on the volume of resources, as well as on the way in which they are valued, although their low degree of concentration, in the case of family farms, makes the exploitation process more difficult. This paper is based on the analysis of statistical data from a quantitative and qualitative point of view, highlighting the determination of the degree of uniformity, the number of agricultural holdings and their size at regional level
Comparative analysis of technical indicators for conventional and ecological agriculture
Conventional agriculture is characterized by intensive mechanization and chemization, making products competitive on the market of agricultural products, while organic farming is a "modern" process of growing plants, fattening animals and producing food, which stands out. fundamental of conventional agriculture. In this paper, the technical indicators for the two types of conventional and ecological agricultural systems will be analyzed. The analysis of the surfaces, the average productions as well as the total ones from the quantitative point of view will be carried out, with the help of the data provided by the National Institute of Statistics (INSSE) and the Institute of Research - Ecological Agriculture (FIBL). This analysis highlights the evolution or involution, retrospective and current situation for the two types of agricultural systems at national level, using the method of comparative analysis, in order to determine the direction of these agricultural systems
An Evaluation of the Efficiency of the Floating Solar Panels in the Western Black Sea and the Razim-Sinoe Lagunar System
The development of novel solar power technologies is regarded as one of the essential solutions to meeting the world’s rising energy demand. Floating photovoltaic panels (FPV) have several advantages over land-based installations, including faster deployment, lower maintenance costs, and increased efficiency. Romania is considered a country with enormous solar energy potential, which is one of the most exploited sectors of the renewable energy sector. With this in mind, the purpose of this work is to assess the energetic potential provided by the sun, taking into account three lakes in Romania’s east and extending to the west of the Black Sea. In this context, we examine the hourly distribution of solar radiation for the year 2021. The solar radiation data were extracted using the ERA5 database, as well as data collected in situ near them. Following this research, we discovered that all of the chosen locations have a high energetic potential and could be used as locations for the exploitation of solar energy, thereby avoiding the use of land that could be used for agricultural purposes in these areas. We also noticed that there are minor differences between the solar radiation values obtained from the ERA5 database and the measured ones
