Space-charge effects in the Fermilab Main Ring at 8 GeV
I use computer tracking to investigate the effects of space-charge on particle motion in the Fermilab Main Ring at p = 8 GeV/c. The results are found to agree with the Laslett tuneshift formula. Simple model cases are also studied to speed up the tracking. The effects of synchrotron oscillations, via tune modulation and dispersion, are included. 2 refs., 5 figs
Nanocrystalline MoBi2Se5 Ternary Mixed Metal Chalcogenide Thin-films for Solar Cell Applications
AbstractOptical, structural, morphological and photoelectrochemical properties were investigated of ternary MoBi2Se5 thin film prepared by simple arrested precipitation technique (APT). The precursors used were molybdenum, bismuth, triethanolamine complexes (TEA) along with organic additives. Ammonium molybdate, Bismuth nitrate and sodium selenosulphite were used as sources of Mo4+, Bi3+ and Se2â ions. The optical band gap of thin film was estimated to be 1.78eV. X-ray diffraction data reveals that the grown MoBi2Se5 thin film was highly nanocrystalline with orthorhombic structure. Scanning electron microscopy studies reveal that porous layer having elongated fibrous morphology with high surface area. The film was obtained with a well-defined composition, very close to the expected one. PEC application of prepared thin film were checked in Sulphide / Poly sulphide electrolyte which revealed that MoBi2Se5 thin film deposited on FTO coated glass exhibited maximum values of fill factor (FF) and conversion efficiency (Ρ) with n type semiconductor nature

Studies and calculations of transverse emittance growth in high-energy proton storage rings
In the operation of proton-antiproton colliders, an important goal is to maximize the integrated luminosity. During such operations in the Fermilab Tevatron, the transverse beam emittances were observed to grow unexpectedly quickly, thus causing a serious reduction of the luminosity. We have studied this phenomenon experimentally and theoretically. A formula for the emittance growth rate, due to random dipole kicks, is derived. In the experiment, RF phase noise of known amplitude was deliberately injected into the Tevatron to kick the beam randomly, via dispersion at the RF cavities. Theory and experiment are found to agree reasonably well. We also briefly discuss the problem of quadrupole kicks. 14 refs., 2 figs., 3 tabs

Electromagnetic form factors of charged and neutral kaons in an extended vector-meson-dominance model
A model is developed for electromagnetic form factors of the charged and
neutral K-mesons. The formalism is based on ChPT Lagrangians with vector
mesons. The form factors, calculated without fitting parameters, are in a good
agreement with experiment for space-like and time-like photon momenta.
Contribution of the two-kaon channels to the muon anomalous magnetic moment

Measurement of isolated photon production in pp and PbPb collisions at sqrt(sNN) = 2.76 TeV
Isolated photon production is measured in proton-proton and lead-lead
collisions at nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energies of 2.76 TeV in the
pseudorapidity range |eta|<1.44 and transverse energies ET between 20 and 80
GeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. The measured ET spectra are found to be
in good agreement with next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD predictions. The
ratio of PbPb to pp isolated photon ET-differential yields, scaled by the
number of incoherent nucleon-nucleon collisions, is consistent with unity for
all PbPb reaction centralities.Comment: Submitted to Physics Letters
Physics with the KLOE-2 experiment at the upgraded DANE
Investigation at a --factory can shed light on several debated issues
in particle physics. We discuss: i) recent theoretical development and
experimental progress in kaon physics relevant for the Standard Model tests in
the flavor sector, ii) the sensitivity we can reach in probing CPT and Quantum
Mechanics from time evolution of entangled kaon states, iii) the interest for
improving on the present measurements of non-leptonic and radiative decays of
kaons and eta/eta mesons, iv) the contribution to understand the
nature of light scalar mesons, and v) the opportunity to search for narrow
di-lepton resonances suggested by recent models proposing a hidden dark-matter
sector. We also report on the physics in the continuum with the
measurements of (multi)hadronic cross sections and the study of gamma gamma

Measurement of the inclusive production cross sections for forward jets and for dijet events with one forward and one central jet in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV
The inclusive production cross sections for forward jets, as well for jets in
dijet events with at least one jet emitted at central and the other at forward
pseudorapidities, are measured in the range of transverse momenta pt = 35-150
GeV/c in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV by the CMS experiment at
the LHC. Forward jets are measured within pseudorapidities 3.2<|eta|<4.7, and
central jets within the |eta|<2.8 range. The double differential cross sections
with respect to pt and eta are compared to predictions from three approaches in
perturbative quantum chromodynamics: (i) next-to-leading-order calculations
obtained with and without matching to parton-shower Monte Carlo simulations,
(ii) PYTHIA and HERWIG parton-shower event generators with different tunes of
parameters, and (iii) CASCADE and HEJ models, including different non-collinear
corrections to standard single-parton radiation. The single-jet inclusive
forward jet spectrum is well described by all models, but not all predictions
are consistent with the spectra observed for the forward-central dijet events.Comment: Submitted to the Journal of High Energy Physic
