NICE prostate cancer quality standards

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the United Kingdom. Over 42,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. In June 2015, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) finally published five key statements regarding prostate cancer care. The quality standards are mostly derived from the NICE prostate cancer guidelines. In this article, we discuss the development process by the NICE Advisory Committee and highlight the five key priorities proposed by NICE to drive quality improvements in patient safety, patient experience and clinical effectiveness. We also discuss areas for potential improvement to improve the standard of care for men with prostate cancer

EntiTables: Smart Assistance for Entity-Focused Tables

Tables are among the most powerful and practical tools for organizing and working with data. Our motivation is to equip spreadsheet programs with smart assistance capabilities. We concentrate on one particular family of tables, namely, tables with an entity focus. We introduce and focus on two specific tasks: populating rows with additional instances (entities) and populating columns with new headings. We develop generative probabilistic models for both tasks. For estimating the components of these models, we consider a knowledge base as well as a large table corpus. Our experimental evaluation simulates the various stages of the user entering content into an actual table. Collision metastasis from prostate adenocarcinoma and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma to a lung nodule

Introduction Prostate cancer and pancreatic cancer are often complex pathologies that affect millions of patients worldwide. However, the incidence of a distant collision metastasis of both malignancies remains a rare and often poorly documented incidence. Case presentation A 75-year-old male patient with past history of prostate cancer on maximal androgen blockade was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer for which he underwent radical surgical resection of pancreas with curative intent. A metastatic lung nodule was noted on surveillance CT imaging and, subsequently, biopsied. A diagnosis of collision metastasis from two distinct primary malignancies was histopathologically confirmed following immunohistochemical evaluation. Conclusion We report the first case of collision metastasis of prostate and pancreatic adenocarcinomata to a lung nodule to the best of our knowledge

Urinary bladder melanosis with complete resolution case report

Background Melanosis of the bladder is a rare condition characterized by multifocal, diffuse melanin pigmentation of the urothelial mucosa or lamina propria without any proliferation of melanocytes. Less than 25 cases have been reported so far of which only four patients had concurrent urothelial carcinoma. Case presentation We are reporting a case of melanosis of the bladder in a 58-year-old female associated with pTaG1 transitional urothelial cell carcinoma (TCC) of the bladder who presented with symptoms of recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI). Cystoscopy and biopsy results confirmed benign melanosis. Conclusion Our case is unique because bladder melanosis associated low grade TCC with complete resolution of both conditions within one year

Shear Bond Strength Evaluation of an Experimental Dentin Adhesive In Comparison With 5 Commercial Adhesives in a Dental School Setting

The aim of the in-vitro study was to evaluate the shear bond strength of a newly developed experimental dentin adhesive and compare it with the shear bond strength of different commercially available dentin adhesives in a dental school setting
